My friend Paul and I climbed that as part of our project to climb every named peak over 8000' in Klamath County last summer. That summit is my favorite from the whole summer, such a great view. We could see all the way to Mt. Hood to the north! Great video and good job staying safe!
I went up as a solo hike in May 2015 from the other direction that I think you said you took in October. The mountain was mostly covered in snow. I had cramprons but slipped a few times as I crossed below the ridge to stay away from the bergschrund that I saw along the ridge I ended up turning around about halfway between the false summit and the true summit as thunder clouds were building up. The skies were so clear earlier that you could clearly see McLoughlin and even Shasta all the way down in California. I loved the view of Theilsen through the "Keyhole". Thanks for the video, sorry about all of the smoke from California.
Great video! Beautiful scenery. I'm hoping to add the summit of Diamond Peak to my Oregon section hike of the Pacific Crest Trail in late July. I figured since the trail comes so close to the summit, I might as well. I enjoyed getting to see a bit of what to expect, so that really helps. Looking forward to your next video.
Yes you totally should add it to your pct trek. It’s literally right there 👍🏼. Same with Thielsen, the climber trail is right off of the pct. I highly recommend stashing your equipment at the bottom though and only taking the essentials to the top. It’ll make the climb easier. Thanks so much for watching!!
@@HikeOregon - I'm not sure about doing Thielsen, but I do plan to do Diamond Peak, as well as South Sister. Making it one amazing month of enjoying as much of Oregon in one trip. I appreciate your videos and the information you share. I hope to start adding videos again here soon. Sadly I couldn't get into my old account on here, but UA-cam somehow connected me back to this one.
@@HikeOregon Hell ya. I look forward to it. I bet this year will be so crowded, everyone getting their time in before the changes. Well the video business on my side has slowed down. Ran into some trouble with the bigfoot project and may abandon it. We will see.
Just missed you, hike up Diamond peak on the Friday (16 Nov)! It was a bit windier! I carried spikes but like you chose not to go the last part to the final summit. I love that hike because of the views. Did Eula ridge on the Saturday for the first time but missed hiking with views! Nice video thanks for posting. Sounds like you are a fan of the Altra zero drop trail runners? Planning on buying a pair to try them out sometime. I have been a fan of la sportiva Akyra trail runners for a longtime!
Oh my goodness that’s funny that you were up there the day prior!! Yes I love Altra shoes, I can’t do LaSportiva because they’re too narrow. Altra are wide and super comfy. Literally feels like I’m wearing slippers.
Yep there are a few trailheads. This video was from when we did Rockpile Lake TH. The route I prefer is via summit lake also from the oakridge side. Here is the link to the hike write up. www.hikeoregon.net/diamond-peak-summit.html
Depending on how fast you are and what season you’re summiting in it’ll take you around 7 hours. So in the summer months it’s not a big deal to get a later start.

I can’t wait to Summit it again!!!
@@HikeOregon Is a bit more of a drive but Tipsoo peak is a great hike. Easy trail and the views you get for such an easy climb are certainly worth it!
@@codyandargo906 Yes, Tipsoo by Thielsen! I love that area!
Beautiful views. Another great video! Thanks for sharing this pretty place!
I know those smiles! Nothing like a sunny day and a summit hike to bring them out. Thanks for sharing Franziska.

Hike Oregon is a babe in a big way!! 😍😍😍 from Massachusetts

Awesome exploration as always. You gonna do any videos about the upcoming changes limiting wilderness permits?
Yes once the final announcement comes through this month I will make a video about it.

Yes it will definitely be busy. I will try to hike in those areas during the week as much as possible once I move over to the Bend area this summer.
@Mira culix Sisters, Jefferson and some others will require permits.
In 2020 certain trails in the Mt Jefferson Mt Washington and Three Sisters Wilderness will be permitted.
One day I will get to the west coast for some backpacking.

How cool. Didn't seem like 87,000 feet (16 miles high) though...haha. Really enjoy your mountain vids.
Hahahaha
Lovely........careful on that scree, dear........even with poles, soft scree can bury your leg in an instant! (voe) blessings.............
Very good. Thumbs up from me.
Woohoo Woohoo!!!
hey, hoping to do this hike soon, is the road pretty rough into where you started? did you take the exit at oakridge? thanks
