HBHS u18 rowing vid 23/24

A history making season with Hamilton Boys High School winning the trifecta for the first time since 2008 at the Maadi Cup regatta and traveling to England to race the Princess Elizabeth challenge cup at Henley royal regatta for the first time in NZ rowing history.

Great video boys. I rowed for HBHS in the Maadi Cup in 1964 & 65. No held starts then and I remember one year ( 1965 I think) on the Wanganui River when the starter and the umpire lost it with each other. We had about 6 or 8 false starts which took about 40 minutes before the race finally got underway. The race was won by Wanganui Collegiate which was the dominant school then. 😠. I’m still rowing (at 77 years old) with the North Esk Rowing Club in Launceston Tasmania. Boast:- We won our division in last years Head of the Yarra. It’s a great sport. Stick with it and congratulations. PS This emoji 🥸is the spitting image of Aubrey Baigent who was headmaster during my time at HBHS.
