You are absolutely right when you said Gangnam style got nothing on t-ara’s roly poly cus even Koreans think so. In fact, roly poly still outsold Gangnam style with over 4 million digital sales in Korea alone
Thanks for the reaction and hope everything Is okay with your family. this song is THAT song for t-ara when they released the song it was everywhere like literally everywhere it got lots of covers they were known everywhere and also it's the best-selling and most downloaded song of 2011 and best-selling idol group song of all time in South Korea. My Story with T-ara starts with this song when it was released I once opened my tv and they were airing the mv on a Korean tv channel I wasn't fond of kpop but the song was stuck in my head for so long. After a while, I wanted to check a Korean group so T-ara's name appeared and when I searched their name Roly Poly was the first song that I clicked on and of course I was shocked that they were the same group I watched on TV. so I kept looking for more songs and I couldn't stop and as you continue your journey with them you will know why :)
As for the MV T-ara are known for their drama mvs. so if your going to check the other songs which have both drama mvs and dance ver I would recommend you to watch the dance ver first so you will hear the song then watch the drama mvs. Their drama mvs usually have a part 1 and 2 so 2 songs for each story. The songs that have an mv version are: - Cry Cry + Lovey Dovey (the official doesn't have an eng sub so check the links) Cry Cry (Eng sub): ua-cam.com/video/j6CHFSb4sAE/v-deo.html Lovey Dovey (Eng sub): ua-cam.com/video/Q852YeEf5Dc/v-deo.html - Day By Day + Sexy love Day by Day: ua-cam.com/video/brnCe8lL7l4/v-deo.html Sexy Love: ua-cam.com/video/vb___tTA1po/v-deo.html - T-ara N4 (sub-unit) Jeon won diary: ua-cam.com/video/CyOK2kjczo0/v-deo.html
This song is such a bop, particularly as a dance song in the club. Roly Poly is a song that doesn't age. Its beat and fun energy will always prevail in any era. T-ara happened before my entry to Kpop but they made some fantastic music.
this song is seriously the one beat gangnam style in korea ...for korean this is their fave song on 2011 , despite the song released middle of the yr it toke over download numbers than other famous grp as it earns 4.5M more dl in korea, for koreans students on this era it was their fave songs to perform they said hehhe
Thanks for a great reaction. You absolutely nailed it. This song is as catchy and as iconic now as when it was released 10 years ago. Now you need to react to Roly Poly in the Copacabana, which is the same song, but an altogether different drama. Some of us think it's better than their first version. Jiyeon and her bubblegum cannot be missed.
FYI - the girl who everybody was trying to match up with the boy is Boram (actually the oldest in the group but always mistaken as the youngest or Maknae). The woman featured in the beginning is actually her mom, and the DJ at the club is actually her father and a Korean Pop star in his own right. Jeon Boram's parents are Lee Mi-Young, a famous South Korean actress, and Jeon Yeong-Rok a South Korean Pop singer, songwriter, and actor. Did I miss your Bo Peep Bo Peep (2009) reaction?
Conversation after 6:00. Eunjung(spotted turban): Was he that when we was dancing? Qri(striped clothes):The orange pants. How about him? someone: Why why why why? What's your name? Eunjung: Push over, over, over. Oldman: He's nice, he's handsome. Goodluck, ok? Eunjung: What school What's your name? someone: Isn't great today? Wanna dancing? Eunjung: No, no, no(Hear like ania). You have fun, I'm going dancing. I have to go to the bathroom. I'm in hurry. Guy: Hello Boram: Hi Guy: Are you shy? Boram: Huh. [In Bathroom] Eunjung: just so so, right? Jeyeon(Lead dancer):(I can't clearly hear what her said) Eunjung: I want to know the DJ (PS:in real life, the DJ is Boram's Father. He is an actor) All: He's mine, mine, mine. [Boram came in bathroom] Boram: Hey Eunjung: Was he nice? Boram: He kept coming closer so. Jeyeon: so! someone: Did you kiss him? Boram: no! All: huh
I don't think anyone has ever broken down the conversation like that. Thank you I am in the process of learning Korean hopefully I can do it for myself one day.. :)
There is a remix version of this song with its own music video titled "Roly Poly in Cocacabana." If you are interested, you can watch it here: ua-cam.com/video/3Xolk2cFzlo/v-deo.html

At the end of 2020 Daegu show, Itzy covered Roly Poly and Oh! My Girl covered Sexy Love. I was so happy to see T-ARA get some love last year.

T-ara es un grupo que formo un hito en el kpop. Jamás olvidadas, siempre T-ara forma parte de mi.
