The grape stomping story isn't quite right, according to Lucy herself. I heard her tell that story in an interview. She said the woman that was hired didn't speak English and they told her to pretend to fight with Lucy, but she didn't know when to stop so she started to choke her in the grapes and Lucy was actually choking but the Italian woman thought she was acting. The director couldn't see them so he didn't know right away, but they eventually got the Italian woman to stop. LOL

Notorious episode? Grape stomping was a favorite....she wasn't almost murdered. The lady Italian lady didn't understand English and the director's directions. Lucy did say - and say it to me - I knew her - that she almost drowned in a vat of grapes....And the Italian lady while overzealous wasn't actually attempting to kill her, that's crazy....what else you point out here is generally true, but not all that scandalous really. About smoking Lucy and Desi both smoked and may have even played a role in their deaths (I am not doctor and won't speculate) but we didn't know in the early 1950's about smoking and the relationship to cancers as we do today. They just didn't know what they didn't know.
Yes Lucy and Desi did smoke a lot. So what ! I smoke too and I love it. The "I LOVE LUCY ' SHOW actually had a cigarette sponcor. The were Philip Morris Ciigarettes. So there .
In later years, Lucy's cigarette-damaged "smoky" voice was very noticeable. And yes, people DID know smoking was unhealthy, way before the government finally said so in the 1960s. They were insultingly called "coffin nails' from at least the early 1900s.
@@hebneh exactly, it's rumored that Honus Wagner didn't want his baseball card in tobacco because he didn't want teenagers smoking. His card was in tobacco in 1909 - 1911. He knew back then it was bad.
I love this show to this day! Lucille Ball definitely was the main focus of the show, although without Desi Arnaz it would not have been the same. All of the four main characters brought life to the show. Greatest comedy show ever.
My favorite show as a child. This use to air at 11:00 A.M. where I grew up (Maine). I can remember my Mom letting me eat my lunch in the Living room, and watch "I love Lucy" everyday. Fond memories!
Actually I loved the I Love Lucy show as a child; however in this many decades later, I have watched the episodes over and over they are so darn funny. Also, now have watched most of The Lucy Show particularly seasons 4-6.And some episodes of Here's Lucy. As a result of this revival - have watched many of Lucille Balls films that I had never seen before - really enjoyed about 15 of them. She is a treasure. She often was dubbed in singing, but did all her own singing in Dance, Girl, Dance. Also, sang "Friendship"in Du Barry Was a Lady with Red Skelton, and sang"Breezing Along with the Breeze" with Desi in in Long Long Trailer. Her singing was panned in Mame, however it reminded me of the talk/singing Rex Harrison did in My Fair Lady. Also in Mame her voice suited her character.
This show always reminded me of my grandparents, who lived in Queens from before my Dad was born in 1930 until 1968. Grandma had her Lucy-like moments and both were New Yorkers since birth. Enjoying the conversation with the relatives of the other actors too.
I did too David! This series was my parents “favorite”, hands down & she watched her in reruns until she sadly my mom sadly passed away on October 27th, 2017th! My mom “LOVED LUCY” until the very end! “I loved Lucy too”, watching it in BLACK & WHITE AS A LITTLE GIRL! I watch it now, thinking of & missing my beloved “mama!” This series was a breath of fresh air & down right “fun”, when this type of programming wasn’t common. Lucy Arnaz was a smart, talented, beautiful & intelligent woman who was way ahead of her time, in every single way! She will be remembered forever for the remarkable woman that she was!❤️
Well being a Latino is not really a race but a nationality - all people from south and central America came from Spain and Spanish people are white people.
Its an insult to this show's memory to say it had canned laughter when it was the first show in history to use a 3 camera set up in front of LIVE studio audience. Get your facts straight.
She REALLY was a Ground Breaker for Television, I didn't Realise how much until Now!!! Thank You Lucille Ball for Your Contributions to Television And to the way People perceived things!!!
I was born in 1951 so I grew up on Lucy. If you ever watch TCM (old movie ) station, you will see the married couple always sleeping separately in twin beds. Back then people didn’t know how dangerous cigarettes were , even in the 70’s when I dated Drs they didn’t know. I feel blessed that I never smoked. Of course coming from the Hippie generation, almost all the kids I knew did smoke pot, although I did smoke in on rare occasions because I would choke on the smoke.
I can't get enough of the two couples together in seasons one through six; couldn't get into The Lucy Show because I was always looking for Desi and Bill (Ricky and Fred). Their movie, "The Long Long Trailer" is a classic for Lucy fans!
@@FactsVerse I'm not Gail but I loved that film. My favorite scene was where Tacy (Lucille) was hoarding up sentimental rocks + homemade picallili (can't spell it but it's a condiment similar to relish) and Nicky (Desi) insisted she toss it on account of they were about to climb a mountain that peaked at 8,000 feet since it was considered risky for the trailer (the extra weight). Tacy schemes to have it hidden all throughout the trailer; sure enough when they get to 8,000 feet the stuff starts sliding around & @ one moment it seems the trailer was going to go off the mountain for sure, taking them to their deaths - thankfully it doesn't but as soon as they are out of danger, Nicky opens up the trailer door & the evidence is apparent, which he tosses away, infuriating Tacy to no end.
My favorite part of "The Long Long Trailer" was when Desi gave Lucy the title for the Trailer as a Wedding gift, talk about touching! That made me cry!
Lucy hands down. Lucy is what made the show - I Love Lucy. She was so funny and always coming up with with her great ideas. Love her so much. Beautiful wonderful Lady. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💖💖💖💖
I've been watching the Lucille Ball show I Love Lucy 4 years ever since I was a little kid back in the sixties things I heard I was shocked I still watch it today I think Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball we're the best
I really Love this show and still watch this . I am so happy you let Fred play and Ethel it really did come ❤ together I was 5 my first time watching it and loved it. Thankyou. They really blended. GREAT!!! And it was all meant to be
Lucy was without a doubt The Queen & Brightest Star on " I LOVE LUCY" Rightfully so. In addition she wasthe funniest member as well. We all loved LUCY😍🤗
You are correct but I think the problem is that there are many Spanish people that want to distinguish themselves from each other. Someone from Spain is Hispanic, People from South America like to be called Latin-Latin American and people from Cuba like to be called Cuban. We call Chinese, Japanese and Korean.. all Asians. Once I was White, then I became Caucasian and now I am European. This tells you nothing about my beliefs, heritage or culture. I was born in the USA and maybe that’s all that is important to me.✌🏽🌅🎆🎇💕
My favorite episode was "Too many crooks" (a play on words referencing "too many cooks". The old saying was "too many cooks spoil the stew"). The second fave was when they took the trip to California and they stopped at that run down motel (I forget the ep title). That old guy was the first victim in the 1958 film version of "The Blob". He was a riot. And the way their beds bounced around when the train went by and the old guy stealing their steering wheel.
It never ceases to amaze me how life back then as it was portrait on TV and in the movies differed so radically from the way it was lived, both by celebrities as well as common folks. We seem to think that life back then was just like a TV episode, when in fact people swore, were jerks and assholes, and behaved despicably, just like they do today.
@@FactsVerse Generally yes. I think back in the days of I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver, the studios were much more worried about a middle America and Bible belt backlash. So you couldn't even use words like 'hell' or 'damned', and Lucy and Ricky couldn't share a conjugal bed, or be shown pregnant, even tho, like the immaculate conception, nine months later there was Little Ricky.
@@shelbynamels973 Not sure why you say she couldn't be shown pregnant because they did show her pregnant on the show although it was a huge controversy.
It's the same today...tv is just tv...it is make believe and I don't think that was lost on the audience back then as it is to especially young people that cant differentiate between what is real and what is not. When they grow up with a cell phone thrown in their hands.
@@FactsVerse memory of Ricky? Way too many. His reactions to Lucy's craziness was just too much and loved his accent and how Lucy always made fun of it. But that was just in fun. I loved the long trailer so much too. He was so afraid of the train behind him.
My favorite episode of "I love Lucy." Is when the birth of little Ricky" It was funny when Lucy comes out of the bedroom and said "Ricky this is it." And Fred, Ethel, and Ricky go into a frenzy.
I believe Desi Arnaz deserves a lot of credit for that show a talented musician singer bandleader if there was no Desi, there would be no I Love Lucy. He complimented Lucy his wife with excellent lines comedy and great talent he deserves a 5 Star as well he opened the door for many other Hispanic Latin American actors entertainers etc.😊😎👍

Great job. Teresa Tirelli was a close friend of our family and frequently came to our house. She was also an artist; she painted a still life portrait on canvas for us and we displayed it in our house for years. The Italian owner of the vineyard on that same show was also a good friend of the family, his name was Ernesto.
Facts Verse well, I’ve seen every single episode dozens of times; I can literally recite all the dialogue of all the shows. Lol. But I’d have to say the “Lucy is Enceinte” is the one that makes me cry like a baby even today. I remember watching that episode with my late wife when she was pregnant; I cried then and I still cry now.
Hi Tino I just now came across your comments on Teresa Tirelli in the famous grape vat fight with Lucy & you mentioning the vineyard boss Ernesto (last name Molinari) as I am his grandson. our family has relished that episode as it was Ernesto's biggest speaking roll. My aunt Yolanda whose married name was McGinnis was Hollywood's 1st casting director & would tell that same story about Terresa not acting but was quite serious in that seen. Also you'll recall the Italian bell hop at the hotel in Italy played by family friend Sammy Lamedico
Marc Molinari hi Marc, that’s incredible! Where are you? Are any of your family members still in SoCal? I’d love to chat with you to see if we know any of the same people.
Marc Molinari I remember your grandfather being the chef at the Casa Italiana church hall in LA for many years. My father, Tony De Bruno, performed there countless times
There is nothing better than watching I Love Lucy. Each character was fabulous in their own ways. I'll never forget how Lucy & Ethel would think they were going to fool Ricky & Fred. Ricky would find out, and he and Fred would turn the tables on Lucy & Ethel. One of my favorites, is when Lucy thinks Ricky is trying to kill her. FUNNY!
The episode where they switched jobs you know where the guys did the house work and the girls went to work in The Guys’ Place also the chocolate episode was funny and the episode where she did the commercial for the vita vita veggie men or however you say that
I have seen I Love Lucy through all my 69 years. It still makes me laugh and I never get tired of seeing it. But as much as Lucy was the show Ricky Fred and Ethel are equal in my eyes. They were perfectly cast and all very funny in their own right. This was a fabulous foursome that stands the test of time. Thanks to them and Desi inventing the rerun we get to watch whenever we want.

The same goes for me too Gail!
We need more clean funny show on TV now without violence
Lucy hands down. Lucy is what made the show - I Love Lucy. She was so funny and always coming up with with her great ideas. Love her so much. Beautiful wonderful Lady. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💖💖💖💖
I've been watching the Lucille Ball show I Love Lucy 4 years ever since I was a little kid back in the sixties things I heard I was shocked I still watch it today I think Desi Arnaz and Lucille Ball we're the best
She still keeps us together ❤ in 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦 🍁 🇨🇦
I really Love this show and still watch this
. I am so happy you let Fred play and Ethel it really did come ❤ together I was 5 my first time watching it and loved it. Thankyou. They really blended. GREAT!!! And it was all meant to be
Lucy is legendary no one can take her place ever.
Lucy was without a doubt The Queen & Brightest Star on " I LOVE LUCY" Rightfully so. In addition she wasthe funniest member as well. We all loved LUCY😍🤗
Cuban isn't a race. It is a nationality. When are people going to get this?
Some people will never get this ! It may be a 'generation thing'. I believe that most people don't know the difference in NATIONALTY or RACE.
Witchy Poo , your right Cuban is a Nationality not a race. oh and keep trying to get Freddy the golden Flute "Witchy Poo laugh "
I was born in the USA and maybe that’s all that is important to me.✌🏽🌅🎆🎇💕
Plus he looked white af and many Cubans have Spanish heritage
But..... Ricky is of a different race being Cuban. He is of Hispanic race
It was scaled First Stop and the old man was Olin Howlin , who had a memorable role as an alcoholic in a hospital in Them
They all made the show what it was PERFECT
It never ceases to amaze me how life back then as it was portrait on TV and in the movies differed so radically from the way it was lived, both by celebrities as well as common folks.
We seem to think that life back then was just like a TV episode, when in fact people swore, were jerks and assholes, and behaved despicably, just like they do today.
That's an interesting point! Do you think TV shows now portray a more realistic life, shelby?
@@FactsVerse Generally yes. I think back in the days of I Love Lucy and Leave It To Beaver, the studios were much more worried about a middle America and Bible belt backlash.
So you couldn't even use words like 'hell' or 'damned', and Lucy and Ricky couldn't share a conjugal bed, or be shown pregnant, even tho, like the immaculate conception, nine months later there was Little Ricky.
@@shelbynamels973 Not sure why you say she couldn't be shown pregnant because they did show her pregnant on the show although it was a huge controversy.
@@kiranolan7104 They weren't allowed to say the word pregnant.
It's the same today...tv is just tv...it is make believe and I don't think that was lost on the audience back then as it is to especially young people that cant differentiate between what is real and what is not. When they grow up with a cell phone thrown in their hands.
Ricky really had s great accent and really loved that couple and their wonderful friends. Loved that commercial.
What's your favorite memory of Ricky, Sally?
@@FactsVerse memory of Ricky? Way too many. His reactions to Lucy's craziness was just too much and loved his accent and how Lucy always made fun of it. But that was just in fun. I loved the long trailer so much too. He was so afraid of the train behind him.
I loved 🥰 them all they made me laugh it was great fun watching the show thank you for sharing
Lucille Ball is my best "actress's and nobody better, than her. She is still, the best of comedians of all times.
She really was! What was your favorite episode of the show, David?
My, was, I know it's when cousin Ernie, is from Kentucky and he didn't like New York City. But he, was a was a good comedian Ernie Ernie Floyd
There will never be another "Lucy"!
Lucy was my favorite and my favorite episode was switching jobs
Some of those scenes I've never seen in color! Crazy how adding color can completely change the aesthetic.
Thanks for watching!
The Episode where Lucy tells Ricky she’s pregnant has always been my fav episode since i was a kid
I think that this video was very well done. Keep up the good work.
My favorite episode of "I love Lucy." Is when the birth of little Ricky" It was funny when Lucy comes out of the bedroom and said "Ricky this is it." And Fred, Ethel, and Ricky go into a frenzy.
I Love Lucy! I love the entire cast! My favorite show of all time.
@Beautifully Mastered I have always wondered about that considering the name "Braxton " is rarely heard. 😁
Lucille Ball Hands Down... Lucille Ball The Queen Of Comedy..
She’s a icon. I still love to watch Lucy, she stole the show
this is my tabletop series to this day. Even grandchildren are happy to watch it with us when they visit us.
Lucille Ball was the show in all its splender.
She was! What was your favorite episode of the show, M C MAMA?
It is awesome to watch Ilove Lucy everyday
I believe Desi Arnaz deserves a lot of credit for that show a talented musician singer bandleader if there was no Desi, there would be no I Love Lucy. He complimented Lucy his wife with excellent lines comedy and great talent he deserves a 5 Star as well he opened the door for many other Hispanic Latin American actors entertainers etc.😊😎👍
Absolutely love this tutorials;your voice is so easy to listen to and after all these years of watching these shows, it’s really fun to find out so many inside stories xoxo thank you so much. Lisa
Thanks for watching! We're so glad you enjoyed this video. What other types of videos would you like to see?
Lucy was the best
Great job. Teresa Tirelli was a close friend of our family and frequently came to our house. She was also an artist; she painted a still life portrait on canvas for us and we displayed it in our house for years. The Italian owner of the vineyard on that same show was also a good friend of the family, his name was Ernesto.
Wow that's awesome! What's your favorite episode of the show, Tino?
They were both! Enjoyable...loved the show
Lucy was tops no doubt about it,but every one was needed to make the show great.
FUNNY!
Lucy, you have some splaining to do!😂😂😂
When I was young I always thought I Love Lucy was so corny. Now that I'm an adult (43 yrs old) I think it's hilarious.
As a kid i liked the show,55 years later,it is corny
I already knew a lot of these “secrets” since I was a child. Great clip though!
It is and always be Lucille Ball R.I.P.
Ethel Mertz (Vivian Vance) was, by far, my favorite.
Lucille Ball was hilarious and it’s funny how Desi Arnaz played like a daddy to her as well as being her husband
What was your favorite episode of the show, Laila?
The episode where they switched jobs you know where the guys did the house work and the girls went to work in The Guys’ Place also the chocolate episode was funny and the episode where she did the commercial for the vita vita veggie men or however you say that
I know the feeling well.
Will always love them like my own folks
Same here, Marissa!
The entire show was all about Lucy. Everyone else was just a supporting actor/actress. She was and always will be a legend.
I love Lucy. My all time favorite 😅
Loved I love lucy
All of them are my favorite characters
That had to be hard to have to act with someone you can't stand. You would never know it.
It happens more tgannwe could imagine. 🕵👀👀
That's what great actresses does, never let her true feelings show.
RIP Desi and Lucille😭😭😭 Hollywood legends and devoted loved parents to their children lucie and desi Jr
Love the show !!💖
I love Lucy.
We do too! What was your favorite episode of the show, Kim?
