Ray doesn't fit koRn as well as early David... but he fits koRn just fine in comparison to some of Davids final offerings. His drumming on Take a Look in the mirror was lazy as fuck. His drumming on Untouchables wasn't even really that crazy. Anyone could have done that shit and I don't even think he did it lol. He got pissed because the producer got him to simplify his drumming on Issues. Not a single album had amazing drumming after Follow the Leader. I think people are just blinded by the first two albums.
@@MarioCastro_o I bet producers were even getting in his ear during the FTL sessions too, because they knew that album was gonna be the one that broke them into the mainstream.. Some tracks on there had some sick beats and really original stuff going on, but you’re right.. David’s prime was 94-96.. It’s almost like it’s illegal to have innovative and technical drumming if your track is planning to be on the radio lol
I always found something magical about the guitars in this song. I don't know if that's the right word for it, but it just mesmerizes me, it's so hypnotizing. Especially at the "be my neighbor parts", you can hear it most as 4:25. And it's not just this song, it's the atmosphere that comes out of that one part, does anyone know how they get that sound? I'm so curious. It sounds so amazing
Yea, they do a quick swipe of the lower "high" strings all in open at the same time while playing the low B, E, and A strings power chords on the 7th and 6th fret's of the guitars. Giving it that dark but really "fuller sound" One of my favorites from them and I love to cover their songs on guitar. Playing by ear, these demo tape make it easier to hear what is going on at the core of the song before they start layering more track on top.
This song has never failed to give me chills. It makes me want to rise above and fight forward! Especially when I view this song with the WWII video montage on youtube, its intense. Keep up all this old footage, I love it!!
It's my favorite song on the album; how am I just hearing this?? The control over his fluctuation during the chorus lines is perfect, since they're clearly not on separate tracks like in the studio version!
Nope, this is just how it was on the cassette! All I did was remove the tape hiss. Check out all their demos on my site ripped from the original cassettes. They are some of the best versions of their demos on the net all in 320 Kbps.
@kornmemorabilia Really great job here. Thanks for providing download links to many of these rips. I noticed you have some other tape demos from the old days do you plan to rip and upload those songs eventually too?
the finished final version honestly sounds like the vocals especially are much better. Is this what happens when you spend more money on production, or is this what Ross Robinson brings out of artists? Cause I feel at least with the screams, they are so much better on the FINAL version of LIP.
lifeleech I actually like this version more for some reason. Just a side note, in the finished version, I find the "Dumb" and "Old Man" chorus lines in the first prologue quite hilarious.
The studio version only sounds better, CUZ of Jon's added backup vocals. "Dumb..... Old Man" "Child....... Fucker" By the way Child and fucker are suppsoed to be two different statements. So many people think he is saying child fucker, but he is actually saying he was just a child when he watched Mr. Rogers, THEN he is calling him a fucker. Two completely different statements.
TWISTER - Sticks (Demo) Need to get the sticks for your third eye Need to get the sticks for your third eye Your rusty like meat, I cant be beat! Ooh, by your soul Said By your soul Said By your soul Said Beat me with sticks, you need these kicks to beat me, I can defeat me and me, in a mirror Your badass and smooth with a reason, oh yeah
wanna know..what followson the final parte of the song...that Two snare kicks...seems Mike the song is larger por maybe have other parts,...you should put the whole song
I know this comment is over 7 years old, but i'll explain it to you. Jonathan wrote this because when he was a kid he watched Mr. Rogers and in the show all the characters are basically the perfect person, this left Jonathan ill-prepared for the real world where only a very small percentage of people act this way.
Well, not really. He hurt himself during after Issues. His drumming on both FTL and Issues was not even close to what he did on the first too albums. He toned it down way before he hurt himself.
Maybe I'm high. But who the fuck you talking to? You make this comment as if your replying to someone or as if this song is about David. Im just lost and genuinely curious
Yeah but he hurt himself playing this LEET level of drumming. His leaving was the final nail in the coffin for KoRn and now they've devolved into mediocre dubstep
It was just a one off album. I know you made this comment 7 years ago but check out the last two albums Serenity of Suffering and The Nothing. Both are heavy af.
Silveria is really having fun on this whole album. I remember him being drummer of the year in Drummer magazine in 1996. I totally get why.
2:29. JD has one of the most badass vocals ever . I've never heard any other vocals that sound THAT angry.
2:29
their most underrated song. this song is amazing....this was david at his best. i miss that man. rays great...but not a good fit like david was.

@@SUNIKIGAMING Actually after Life is peachy, follow the leader is flat as well

One of my favs
Hi Munky
the way he goes back and forth from regular singing to intense rage ! wow!
man i miss david and his pic snare
That snare just POPS.
This is so haunting.. Even if this is the demo version, the lyrics sung by Jonathan are just amazing.
amazing drummer!

A little late, but it's playing open chords with chorus before the distortion

God! I love the sound of this Tape and the DRUMS! \m/
the absolute best
Holy shit I think I like this better than the album version! A criminally underrated song.
i love korn so fucking much ooommmfffggggg 20 years lovin this, KORN!
I fuckin love Davids drumming. If he would've kept this style he would've been an elite drummer.
He was never in that elite echelon but he is one of my favoruites
Did anyone else sing the backing vocals?
ALWAYS.....
I did so much I started hearing em
I like this version better, except for the lack of the backup vocals.
It's my favorite song on the album; how am I just hearing this?? The control over his fluctuation during the chorus lines is perfect, since they're clearly not on separate tracks like in the studio version!
Man you are the best!!!!!!! I love this song so fcking much. It's my favorite on LIP.!!!!!!!!
@DisturbedOneX I think that Munky is plaing in 8th notes on his high strings. Maybe with a chorus pedal or something on too. It sounds amazing indeed
This is so awesome! :)
Nope, this is just how it was on the cassette! All I did was remove the tape hiss. Check out all their demos on my site ripped from the original cassettes. They are some of the best versions of their demos on the net all in 320 Kbps.

i like this version, more than the album version.

The ending tho
Be myyyyyyyy neighbor - Mr. Rogers

Technically both. (im a singer, amateur music producer too)
I definitely like this better. Just feels organic. Jonathan is my favorite singer not just bc of how he sounds, but bc of how I feel his emotion
The studio version only sounds better, CUZ of Jon's added backup vocals.
"Dumb..... Old Man"
"Child....... Fucker"

The Demo is almost always better (my option)
I agree
TWISTER - Sticks (Demo)

Excuse my damn typos.
👍
Meet myyyyyyyy neighbor.......
@BTandthe5LS I thought he was an elite drummer
wanna know..what followson the final parte of the song...that Two snare kicks...seems Mike the song is larger por maybe have other parts,...you should put the whole song
can u upload "kill you"" please! you are awesome dude!!!
This version is better because it doesn't have those goofy backing vocals
1 Dislike.. Maybe a fan of Mr Rogers? XD Is this.. like the Mr Rogers song or something? Completely confused
