Their storyline isn't based on Treasure Island, they're contemporary pirates (of sorts) who travel across dimensions and, among other things, encounter their own counterparts from a dark, oppressive, dystopian universe and get involved in a fight for liberation. The story doesn't progress chronologically and has been only partially revealed so far though so a lot of interpretations are just theories and more or less educated guesswork :)
Their creative team is really brilliant. They filmed the mv for their debut song in the desert and incorporated it into their whole storyline, like saying "they started from nothing".
they have another debut song entitled "Treasure" and it has an MV too. Ateez commonly have douvle totle trcks so they usually have 2 MVs per comeback/album
I dont know much about their storyline, I just know they are 2 versions of them which you can see in Say my name MV. Which I think are actually the Hala Hala version of Ateez. ATEEZ have come a long way since this debut in terms of budget. Like someone else mentioned, they filmed Treasure and Pirate King in Morocco, but used public areas they didn't have to rent more than one location (in the Treasure MV) to do so, with Pirate King just being filmed in different areas of the Sahara. There's even one shot in Treasure where you can see a tourist for a half second, because they missed it when editing. Their company really didn't have much to spend on them at the time, but they did a great job as far as I'm concerned. But ATEEZ really turned that around quickly. They were a big hit internationally from the get-go, and sold out a world tour only four months after this debut, which gave their company both a quick influx of funds and the confidence in being able to spend it early on without risking running themselves into the ground. Since, we've only seen a steady increase in their budget, with much better accommodations, set design, MVs, styling, and even just small things given to or provided for the group. All things considered, though they aren't as successful as the top echelon of kpop groups, they are very comfortably successful and only continuing to grow! On another note, I am seconding another commenter on requesting you check out their dance practices along with the MVs, and I'll be looking forward to your next one!
