- Join me as we go hunting for dassies in Africa using a 22 long rifle for pest control. Watch as we take down these pesky pests in the most effective way possible using a rimfire. Pest control with a long rifle is one of the oldest ways to take care of pesky pests on farms.
This 22 long rifle hunting episode was filmed in africa on a farm in need of pest control. All rimfire hunting was filmed for education purposes to teach upcomming hunters how to use a 22 long rifle the right way and how to do hunting clean and humane.
The long rifle used in this hunting video is called a CZ 457 and the ammo used for this rimfire hunting adventure was sk standard plus. Camera used for filming this slow motion footage was a go pro hero 7 and sideshot camera system.

I'm an Italian fan, and I'm very fond of small game with both airguns (I own a Reximex Tormenta .22) and rimfire, and I had been meaning to try a winchester wildcat .22LR. I wonder if you might even review some of them in your video one day. It would be equally interesting to see some videos of a complete comparison in pest control between this excellent .22LR and a high powered airgun, perhaps FX panthera with some scientific data on FPS, joules, range and type of bullets and pellets.

why do you shoot a standard .22 LR and not a HP bullet?
Most of the most accurate match grade .22 ammo is loaded with the standard round nose bullets at subsonic velocities. For precision hunting and shooting like this accuracy is king. Also .22lr hollow points bullets don’t really expand much so the disadvantages far outweigh the advantages.
I understand that precision comes first. But then why are H&N hollow point used in air guns?
@@diflowbase every gun is different, some rifles may be most accurate with a hollow point pellet or slug. Airgun pellets are usually made of very soft lead and can expand and deform in some cases. Probably in part due to the hourglass shape of the pellet. The h&n airgun slugs specifically, I'm not sure about. Some slugs like the FX hybrids have massive hollow points compared to rimfire hollow points, which helps them expand. If you're small game hunting I'd say just hit them where it counts and forget out the rest. Big game is another story. Just my opinion. Good luck
