Saw Andrew Bird doing Caravan with Colbert's band. Not on show but an extra online. Best performance I've ever seen on that show. Worth checking out. The band loved it.
It's like dialing the clock back to the first time hearing these guys play together...can it really be 25 years ago...without losing any of the weathering.
Thank you so much for sharing this with us. I've never been to the US but throughout my life I've always felt a connection to the place through music and these songs give me a feeling of connection to both the city and country sides of the US like Jimbo talked about. Beat Still My Heart is my favorite from among these and it feels like the perfect song to listen to at 3AM while lying on a bed in a dark American bedroom.
10:00. wtf. at first I thought no way this is the recording from outside. going off at 10:00. drop the bow and start whistling like a theramin. whaaaaa? good shit.
@@unwavery Last I heard of him performing was in 2014, Tom Maxwell and the Minor Drag. I had tix to see them in Brooklyn but wasn't able to go. I love his album Samsara. I saw Jimbo Mathus with Squirrel Nut Zippers at Daryl's House in Pawling, NY in 2016. It was ok, but not the greatness of the past, and particularly lacking Maxwell, in my opinion. I don't think that Tom has really performed much since the Minor Drag stint in 2014.
@@stjohnlutheranwaverly Samsara, thats the one I had. Got lost in a divorce. Jimbo's other projects since Tom left SNZ are definitely better imho than the new SNZ lineup.
William Faulkner as "favorite songwriter." Perfect.

Their aesthetics work so beautifully together.
These two gentlemen are proof of soul connection through many past lives together...🪶

I have this lp. These two thrive on each other. Im looking forward to many more duets in the future.
Jimbo and Andrew's voices are perfect for each other. I hope you keep digging and drilling down on this duo sound. The songs are wonderful gems too!

I love when two very diverse stories and lives come together and shape all arts.
Never cease this, please.
Whistle man, my superhero!! Greetings from Brazil!!
I can’t believe I missed the livestream of this masterpiece of a film
I loved it. Thanks gor sending it to me
😍 What a privilege!
Andrew Bird is splendid, always meets great artists!
Thank you so much! ❤
Not new, Matthus is the guitar player from Squirrel Nut Zippers
Andrew was part of jimbos band, the squirrel nut zippers on at least 2 albums. Hit and perennial favorites.
I need this album like yesterday...
Sublime imperfection! Love it.
deeply soulful duo ... they were born to play off each other and together
And they did on early Andrew Bird's big band and jim's Squirrel Nut Zippers
Absolutely beautiful in every way. Thank You Andrew and Jimbo!
Three white horses, that one was beautiful
Perfect together
Amazing!
Very cool x
Lovely album, lovely film!

awesome,thoroughly enjoyed this,majic
Jimbo isnt boasting when he said he has a direct connection to old time greats, look up his benefit record he did, "play songs for Rosetta".

What instrument is jimbo Mathis playin at 0:35
Besides the harmonica lmao
FOUND IT!!! it's called a monkey stick or lagerphone
i like jimbo's jingling johnny
This is fantastic, though I would have expected more ambient sound given they're recording outside. The song recordinga sounds very isolated.
The last song has strong Mississippi Sheiks vibes
Jimbo needs to up his tech game, maybe schedule a sitting with Specimen Products to get electrified...
Noooooo!
Lol he plays electric on several records, this is a country blues project.
Crush, me nota. Pfvr :( só queria um beijinho
Tom Maxwell. Accept no substitutes.
Is Tom still playing music? I got his first solo record and it was pretty good but i didnt hear anything since that.
