Hey everybody! So this video started out as a totally unscripted conversation between Ben and me (I didn't even let him know the questions ahead of time lol... which I think really speaks to his genuine knowledge base) but I decided to do something a little more creative with it. If you liked this shortened, more post-produced interview format, please let me know by commenting below! As usual, all the relevant links are in the description. Enjoy!
All your videos are informative and appreciated, but the standard scripted videos with anamations and concise facts are really well done, modern, and what separate you from the rest of the fitness community. Anytime I speak to people about fitness on the fly, I always wish I said something else or something different, him even mentioning Beta Alanine in a top 3 supplement video lends to my point. Even though he was clarifying that it wouldn’t be on his list
I'm very interested in possible getting a guest who is educated in the field of dna and how it relates to how you should train and eat. Like, if any of the Fitgenes and Vitagene websites that take your dna and tell you what food intolerance you have, how you should train based on your fiber type, how to respond to endurance, power, and anaerobic training, etc. any of this make sense?
ARKIN its like Indian drink made by druid which was supposed to “connect” them with spiritual world. In other words - gives you hard trip with hallucinations etc.

As an Indian, I would say turmeric and ashwagandha are very common dietary ingredients. Turmeric is used almost all food preparations and ashwagandha is widely available in ayurvedic stores.
Turmeric is very common, but only contain 6% of curcumin and it won't give any noticeable effect. Curcumin supplement provide 95% of curcumin, so it's worth taking
Pro tip: Curcumin isn't as beneficial when isolated from Turmeric. Consume turmeric powder and make sure to do so with a lipid/fat so it's absorbable and consume with pepper to keep it circulating in your blood for more time to provide its anti-inflammatory benefits.
I'm glad you mentioned Ashwagandha as well. For me, it's a good supplement for recovery, especially when you take it with dinner at night. Ashwagandha is really good for rest, especially if you combine it with Glycine, which is for me, still underestimated.
Heck yes, before I got to the very end I was actually gonna ask your thoughts on Ashwagandha because I feel like it's been a huge game changer for me in terms of reduced anxiety and reduced bloating.. I feel very different when I'm not taking it consistently

CBD is good alternative as well. (If it’s legal in your state/country) It has helped me stop taking pain medication for my tendinitis and now I get decent workouts.
I’m really interested to hear what people with experience using CBD as a pain reliever alternative. What kind of doses and how frequently were you ingesting you’re CBD? Just before your workouts or is it something you can use all the time, and finally, have you had to increase dosages over time to keep the decrease in tendinitis pain? I see a lot of people talking about how they use CBD for pain reduction. I’ve tried out CBD supplementing myself and I didn’t feel too much different, [I was taking the 1000mg doses (sometimes up to 3) from CBDmd] although the pain I was feeling was muscle soreness/tightness in my upper traps/neck and lower back from working out , not tendinitis. Do NOT take poor quality fish oil. For those who haven't bothered to actually look deeper into its effects, a poor quality fish oil is extremely pro-inflammatory and will likely contain oxidized lipids (from the high-temperature processing or sitting on shelves for too long) which are horrendous for organ health and causes cellular damage. Save your money and eat actual fish once or twice a week and you will have more than enough omega-3s to be optimally healthy. The requirements for omega-3 fats are incredibly low in healthy adults (.5% of calories roughly... even for those trying to build muscle), and excessive amounts have actually been shown to have detrimental effects when consumed long term. A lot of bodybuilders hear that omega 3 fats are good for you and will megadose on fish oil everyday, but that's not how the body works. More of something is not always better, and in this case, potentially harmful. If you feel you MUST take the fish oil, opt for a high quality cold-pressed version.
Dr. Brett Osborne a prominent neurosurgeon and the author of the acclaimed book "Get Serious" recommends a minimum of 6g of fish oil a day!!! He is also a CSCS for over 40 years and claims 100% success with clients in his aging clinic in Florida.

I don’t know bout y’all but fish oil absolutely make my veins pop ! I never hear people mention them for vascularity (I get that’s mostly just aesthetic) but I sure enjoy seeing my veins come out to play during a workout.
Anecdotally I have struggled with plantar fascitis for 4 months. I eat fairly healthy foods in general and supplement with fish oil and ginger tablets. Also I have off loaded the foot using special custom inlays and done alle the recommended physiotherapy. One week I decided to make my diet a lot more anti inflammatory - tripling fish oil intake and drinking, eating at least 100g of berries and drinking 3-4 green teas a day with plenty of fresh ginger and turmeric root and lime juice. Results: 3 days in the pain was down 80% and now one week in I am only just able to feel it. Turmeric and fish oil definitely... And ginger I might add
Intelligent Investor I said eat foods that contain those vitamins and minerals not specifically eat the cottage cheese. Plenty of foods out there contain them.

CBD oil, not really a supplement for lifting but if you have any type of chronic pain maybe from lifting or soreness it works wonders. It also helps w anxiety
As someone whom workout often and use an holistic approach, instead of coffee of caffeine from preworkout, y’all should consider Matcha; fairly cheap if u can find it at Ross, TJ maxx or homesgood. Along with OMG Mind (same places mentioned above), consist of various mushroom extract, ashwaganda and cacao for a boost in anti inflammatory, adaptogen and focus. Use a frother to blend the mix then top off with some plant based (prefer SO Delicious brand) creamer to mask the taste. Some off the counter supp that are good is citrulline, arginine and beta alanine. This would cover a lot of your bases. Stay away from overpriced proprietary blend preworkout.
Lol. Ben is a great guy. Constantly makes fun of himself that how small he is and how little progress he makes as an advanced natural, but still looks great because he's very lean. Having GI issues helps with that, at least.
Swap the fish oil for algae oil. Cutting out the middle man (fish) en decreasing your plastics and heavy metal intake. Instead of grinding fish down to get some oil you can get the oil (in better quality) directly from the main source (algae).
Important thing to note for fish consumption. As much as I try to get all my nutrients from food, Salmon is pretty hard to find wild. Most Fish at the markets and stores are all farmed, and if it is, DEFINITELY take more omega 3 supplements. 4-8 grams of omega 3 fatty acids a day (Along with good healthy omega 6's to balance the ratio) I found was very helpful for inflammation and recovery.
Plus as Ben says at 4:27, fresh fish is rather pricey. I live in Pacific salmon territory, I can buy it fresh at the docks without the middleman, and it’s still expensive relative to factory-farmed beef and chicken. If fish oil tablets allow you to get your Omegas more consistently, by all means do that. We see something similar with fruit and vegetables. Well-meaning influencers promote fresh produce but in doing so dump on tinned or frozen. If the net result is people eating fewer fruit & veg due to cost, inconvenience, or spoilage, that’s counterproductive. Tangent: Plus in the case of fruit & veg the evidence suggests fresh isn’t necessarily better. It’s a trade-off. Foods may lose some vitamins in the packaging process, and since tinned fruit & veg have almost always been peeled they tend to have less fiber. But they’re packed within hours of picking, and once they’re packed the micronutrient content is pretty much locked in. On the other hand, fresh produce is picked before it’s fully ripe because it needs to survive the trip to the city and look good in the store. Since it’s open to the elements, the food can lose nutrient content in the few days it spends at the store or in your home. Spinach is a more severe example: if kept in the refrigerator for a week, it’ll lose 75% of its Vitamin C content. (At room temp it’ll lose basically 100%, but by that point it’s probably inedible anyway.)
I always considered myself a hard gainer, but the reality was I had always had a lousy diet. As soon as I started following the Agoge diet, I started gaining muscle fast!
HMB is a MUST! Especially for us older guys to prevent sarcopenia. Boron is another one to free up testosterone and help with bone density and much more. D3/K2, and last but not least Omega 3s.
Great video Jeff! As a medical student I seriously appreciate your approach to diet, exercise and supplementation. I subscribed and hit the bell ;D On a side note, I wish there was more research into SARMs, and I wish they were safer... Everything I've read is kinda risky with all of those animal studies and unknown side effects (like where else the androgen modulators act on).
Jeff, have you thought about covering the vertical diet by Stan Efferding? I think that would be an interesting video and would love to see your take on it.
Took ashwaganda for a couple of weeks. It was too effective, made me feel way to calm and indifferent to everything. I can see how it would benefit a lot if people who are constantly stressed out.
Though beta alanine may be more beneficial to endurance athletes when taken on its own, there is evidence that it shuttles greater amounts of creatine into muscle tissue when stacked.
DUDE! I FUCKING LOVED THIS VIDEO!! I love the style, the information, the editing, by far one of the best videos you have put out on your channel. I NEED PART 2! Keep up the great work!
I worked with a personal trainer who advised me to stop taking Fish Oil pills because of the mercury found in fish and just intake the amount off fatty fish I eat. I retorted with “well wouldn’t the fish have mercury in it as well?” I don’t work with him anymore.
Huh? Have you thought that not all fish absorb the mercury?... Second cheap fish oil is worse than not taking. I guess trainer was glad that he lost a bad client.
Austin Smith Since he told “well wouldn’t the fish have mercury in it as well?” i doubt he had the mind to search for a quality fish oil too, so propably that's why the trainer told him to stop taking it but he is that stupid to not listen him.
So if anyone is looking into ashwagandha there are a few different types. If one doesn't work for you try another. KSM-66 and Sensoril among others, and whatever you'll find on the store shelves. Try the all.
@jeff Nippard i am glad that western culture is finding out the importance of herbs. I am an indian, and i have always used herbs instead of medicines, if i felt sick or had any stomach issues. there are many more in india besides ashwagandha, couple of them are triphala churman(detox), Hajma Pachak/Harithaki powders which mostly focus on stomach issues like constipation etc., because it is believed that most of the deceases start from stomach or GI track. Although there is no proper scientific evidence, i definitely believe in ayurvedic medicines because these herb are been used in india for generations now. I also realized how true my parents were when they said, ayurvedic medicines focus on preventing symptoms but the modern medicines focus on temporarily relieving symptoms with few side effects.
As someone that's trying to lose weight, I'd add 5-HTP to the list. I initially started taking it to help with depression/anxiety/mood, and while it does have some effect there, I find it really good at suppressing my appetite to the point that I'm able to extend my fasting periods to nearly 20 hours AND not overeat after that. As a side effect, it helps me care less about what would bros at the gym think of me, pathetically struggling to bench 1/5th of what they do on a good day. :)
At 05:30 finally someone mentions the fact that statistical significance isn't equivalent to practical significance. As a statistician I'm always suffering a little when statistical significance is treated as the panacea for all clinical studies.
I see Jeff mention Ashwaganda a lot but people need to understand that it can have the literal opposite effects for some people. I tried taking it and became super depressed, it made me nearly distraught. I couldn’t figure out why I felt so off until I dug in deeper and saw that Ashwaganda can have an opposite effect exactly like I was having. A few days after I went off I was fine, but I was in very bad shape, very quickly on this supplement (which I got from a reputable source, too)
I recommend taking large amounts of opiates whether it be diaudid, fentanyl, or morphine coupled with high dose of benzodiazepine like xanax or clonazepam at least 5 mg twice a day
SARMS would be good information to know. I am still hard core natural but I like understanding and I know very little. Love the channel Jeff. Keep it up.
I will say one thing for those who are still watching this, I had very strong inflammation in my body from over activity and caused complications such as lymph node swelling, when I made turmeric tea and drank it, felt instant relief it was like coming out of a sauna.
I would like to add that algae oil is a better option than fish oil. You cut out the middle man and have the same omegas. In that way you lower your intake of toxic chemicals and heavy metals, which are the result of accumulation. (🤘🏼)
Why supplement curcumin? You can easily get the required blood levels of curcumin by eating turmeric and black pepper, which is much cheaper and likely has other health benefits. I like 4 parts turmeric, 4 parts matcha, 1 part cinnamon, a couple of dashes of ground pepper. It's very nice drunk as a warm tea, or just thrown into a shaker.
Beta Alanine? I'm going to give that a go. I am s 57 year old who has only been lifting 20 months & jogs to the gym. I think it might help me. Never heard of the stuff the stuff before. Algal omega is good. North Atlantic mackerel is my go to for fish very good on DHA. Thank you for the informative videos.

Try using krill oil same oils but doesn’t support the corrupt fishing industry
@@Kahleeb. Krill oil is much better. it has more antioxidants and is more absorbable.
Drink two gallons of water a day for 5 days. Your veins will be bulging out of your arms. But be smart that’s a lot of water
Yea thins the blood. Better pumps EVERYWHERE.
DHA/EPA is so important! It’s in each cell’s membrane also great for brain health! Great video! 4 years old video and still biology is still biology!
I really like CBD from Weedborn.
You take cbd pre workout lmao
I'm already taking all 3 of these, good to know I'm doing something right.
But beta alanin ist not worth it
i mean, you can buy all of these and see by yourself wchich one is the best working
I like that you contested some of his suggestions
Jeff is a dam movie director with these amazingly edited videos.
This is awesome. Can definitely feel the authenticity, love it.
If anyone in hurry :
1. turmeric extract
2. Beta-alanine
3. Fish oil
I'm currently taking
Creatine
Carnitine
Citrulline
Soy Lecithin
Whey Isolate
D3 and Vitamin C
What about Zinc, Magnesium, and D3? BONUS: (Fenugreek seed extract)
Cottage cheese has all of those, instead of taking the supplement eat foods that contain it.
Dario 🤢🤮🤮🤮🤮
Intelligent Investor I said eat foods that contain those vitamins and minerals not specifically eat the cottage cheese. Plenty of foods out there contain them.
Dario nearly impossible to consume enough vit d on a daily basis. i never take supplements/pills but this ones important. just picked up a 4 month supply for $2.39 😃
@@Stickykobe420 most of those contain alot of copper which depletes zinc. So supplementing with zinc is very important imo.
Also fish oil is dumb as hell. It has shown to be even more harmfull.
My friend came back from the military absolutely jacked. We call him (S)Army Strong
My stack:
Citrulline malate
Acetyl-l-carnatine
Ashwagandha
Beta alanine
Creatine
L-Tyrosine
Caffeine
Caffeine may wreck you, long-term.
being an indian
turmeric is regular thing in india
when someone is sick in aurvedic side(natural non chemical) turmeric and milk cures lots of things.

Consistency is definitely the key... I work out 2-3 months a year regularly and then always stop for some reason ?
Probably because you have no training partner
@@pierrebernard6469 yeah having a training partner is motivating af
Ashwagandha helps me so much! i had a lot of haedaches and stress because of school. After a week i didn't have it anymore!
And another underated supplement is ginkgo biloba! it helps to memorize and also with inflamations! I
I feel more energised!
CBD oil, not really a supplement for lifting but if you have any type of chronic pain maybe from lifting or soreness it works wonders. It also helps w anxiety
Jeff, can you talk about coconuts? Coconut water to be more specific; but you can think broader if you want: oil, milk, flakes, vinegar, etc.
As someone whom workout often and use an holistic approach, instead of coffee of caffeine from preworkout, y’all should consider
Matcha; fairly cheap if u can find it at Ross, TJ maxx or homesgood.
First thought: "Hmmm, that Guy could be bigger..."
*turns his arm around*
"Nevermind..."
Katerbol Yeah it's that he has a small neck and traps. He needs to get The Yoke!
Lol. Ben is a great guy. Constantly makes fun of himself that how small he is and how little progress he makes as an advanced natural, but still looks great because he's very lean. Having GI issues helps with that, at least.
literally had the same reaction!
You stole my comment!
Swap the fish oil for algae oil. Cutting out the middle man (fish) en decreasing your plastics and heavy metal intake. Instead of grinding fish down to get some oil you can get the oil (in better quality) directly from the main source (algae).
I would recommend getting organic if buying Tumeric and Ashwagandha :)
Tangent:
Plus in the case of fruit & veg the evidence suggests fresh isn’t necessarily better.

I subscribed and hit the bell ;D
On a side note, I wish there was more research into SARMs, and I wish they were safer... Everything I've read is kinda risky with all of those animal studies and unknown side effects (like where else the androgen modulators act on).
No more risky than everyone eating BPA for the last several decades or feeding soy infant formula to babies lol.
LEUCINE, CARNITINE & CREATINE
Great Video Thanks
You should read Caffeine Blues, my man, Caffeine has so many adverse side effects long term it's insane...
Taking ashwagandha changed my life for the better. Without it, I can barely make it through the day. The one I take has magnesium in it as well.
Which on u take?
Jeff, have you thought about covering the vertical diet by Stan Efferding? I think that would be an interesting video and would love to see your take on it.
My top three are tren, rad 140, and Dianabol
When Jeff says take these supplements... you take these supplements!
Ryan Craig ya unless you’re broke. Then you steal, cheat or, beg😈
Took ashwaganda for a couple of weeks. It was too effective, made me feel way to calm and indifferent to everything. I can see how it would benefit a lot if people who are constantly stressed out.
How much was the dosage, I'm looking at a supp with only 250 KSM but they have a few other things mix in there also supposed to help with sleep
@@onri_ I took 500mgs a day.
Love these videos Jeff! Keep it coming
Though beta alanine may be more beneficial to endurance athletes when taken on its own, there is evidence that it shuttles greater amounts of creatine into muscle tissue when stacked.
Can't wait the part 2 !
I was looking for some information on dietary supplements, i was very happy to see you had a video on it, a man i trust
Test, tren, win. Lol jk I know you’re natural 💪🏻😁
As natural as me
Phil Heath nobody is as natty and vegan as you Phil
I am also a Crossfitter.
Natural lmao good one
SALTxTHExWOUND ❤️💪🏽
So much respect for this dude. Short bodybuilder ftw 5’7 here 180lbs
"It may moderately boost testosterone in the range of 10%-20%." Modestly!? *Researches where to buy*
I don't buy it
@Doctor Squidman semen retention boosts testosterone 200% after the 7th day I believe
Only if it's a predatory fish
Huh? Have you thought that not all fish absorb the mercury?... Second cheap fish oil is worse than not taking.
I guess trainer was glad that he lost a bad client.
lordwalrod how do you know it was cheap fish oil
Austin Smith Since he told “well wouldn’t the fish have mercury in it as well?” i doubt he had the mind to search for a quality fish oil too, so propably that's why the trainer told him to stop taking it but he is that stupid to not listen him.
lordwalrod well it would be an educated guess.
Ashwaganda makes me too relaxed for the gym...
Maybe you bench a 1/5th of theirs because you fast for 20+ hour periods... just a thought
(Not sponsored )
a rare sight.
Unbiased.
Kudos to you
Really enjoyed the typography visuals but then I got got by the cliffhanger❣️
“Continued in Part 2” no link or anything for Part 2!👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
How you gonna say not sponsored when every single supplement recommended in the description happens to be from the same brand🤔😅
Because he like that brand 🆗😬
🤫
M.D Records he’s got a referral code
There's an asterisk. That should say it all...
At 05:30 finally someone mentions the fact that statistical significance isn't equivalent to practical significance. As a statistician I'm always suffering a little when statistical significance is treated as the panacea for all clinical studies.
Jeff please do a video on bcaa - when or if to take? awesome content as always
A few days after I went off I was fine, but I was in very bad shape, very quickly on this supplement (which I got from a reputable source, too)
Vitamin D, All of the B vitamins, probiotics. There you go
MVP comment
I recommend taking large amounts of opiates whether it be diaudid, fentanyl, or morphine coupled with high dose of benzodiazepine like xanax or clonazepam at least 5 mg twice a day
SARMS would be good information to know. I am still hard core natural but I like understanding and I know very little. Love the channel Jeff. Keep it up.
Already taking all four. Nice to get some confirmation though.
Damn, I thought the 3rd supplement was cannabis.
I will say one thing for those who are still watching this, I had very strong inflammation in my body from over activity and caused complications such as lymph node swelling, when I made turmeric tea and drank it, felt instant relief it was like coming out of a sauna.
No need to consume Fish oil, when Flaxseeds have more omega 3 and is more affordable.
And more ethical
Are you mad ....fish oil has more epa and dha...dont say anything that you font know fool
Came here to learn what supplements will get me jacked and came out with a supplement that will help me with my crohns diseases. Thanks Jeff 💪
I'll save you ALL some time. Alinine works for me alongside BCAA's and Creatine. Don't forget your carbs and protein! You're welcome.
Two years and no one has called you a twit.
Shut-up, twit.
I would like to add that algae oil is a better option than fish oil. You cut out the middle man and have the same omegas. In that way you lower your intake of toxic chemicals and heavy metals, which are the result of accumulation. (🤘🏼)
stfu you vegan pussy
CAN U DO A VIDEO ABOUT COLLAGEN I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO SEE WHAT U HAVE TO SAY!!!!!!!
*Jeff* : talks about suppliments
*Viewers* : oh damn, that's helpful
*Me* : That looks like the 16 inch macbook pro, did jeff just time travel?
Beta Alanine? I'm going to give that a go. I am s 57 year old who has only been lifting 20 months & jogs to the gym. I think it might help me. Never heard of the stuff the stuff before. Algal omega is good. North Atlantic mackerel is my go to for fish very good on DHA. Thank you for the informative videos.
Beta alanine is great! For me at least
Turmeric should be a regular supplement for EVERYONE!
