@Drew Izaiah thanks so much for your reply. I got to the site thru google and im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
only problem you might have is now you get too much gas and thrust..which throws off the tps(throttle position sensor) on some cars..which throws off the solenoid and other transmission sensors...which will cut back your fuel injectors when you need power...on old cars not a problem after 95 if you do this and it runs funny ...now you know why.
***** either or it does not matter.back in the day when i was a mechanic people came in headed home to where ever with the cars skipping really bad and you could smell the converter. it would burn your eyes. so in the 80s we just took a chisel to the cat and rev the engine blew out the pellets..got them home ok. now there are xtra emissions and sensors on cars that rely on the thrust ratio caused converters to run so.taking it off throws of lots of sensors..On my 96 grand Cherokee it changed gears too fast which meant there goes my get up and go because you want the lower gears to start to get up and go quicker..now you are in 4th gear so quick everyone is passing you...lol also i burned lots of fuel. Its ok if you take it off just be prepared for some issues with the computer and tranny and fuel consumption.
what is the bs part you heard..not being rude . just i did my grand cherokee i took it off thinking this would help..it turned out to be tranny solenoids...but with the converter off.my jeep shifted to fast into upper gears...which caused loss of what i call controlled power. put it back on..it works fine and i got my gas mileage back. just saying.
robby844 having the converter slows down engine combustion..hence saving gas.thats its purpose...taking it off increases combustion and rpm..and now the tps.and tranny are having a conversation..oh crap let me shift the engine rpm preset in my computer says shift @ blank rpm..i need to shift...so it does..thrust.power.timing..etc..
Someone told me to make some holes on them to see if they were damaged.... they weren't... but now my question is... can weld them to seal the holes and keep on using them???? They are expensive..!
You just needed one hole - before & after the cat - to pressure test it if that's what you were attempting. Muffler shops do it all the time, then either plug the holes, or spot weld them over...Not good to do it on your own tho...If you did not damage the insides, yeah, you can use it.
Awesome. Just did that to my 2002 bravada while it was still on the vehicle. 240,000km, went from 15 L/100 KM to 9 L/100 KM on the highway. I work in the oilfield and you can't tell me the emissions made in drilling and producing that 1/3 more fuel isn't worse for the environment than a catylatic converter.
If an area is radioactive polluted, what does it matter if 1 or 2 oil tankers break? In the style of your logic (oil field vs automotive pollution) and I +1 billion people should remove the catalyst because the excess pollution of a car by removing the catalyst is anyway lower than the pollution produced by an oil field ... seriously?
@@PopaAlexandru. I think he meant the 6 litres per 100km which the oilfield wouldn't be producing AND vehicles wouldn't be combusting. Over the life of his vehicle alone would have burned 12,900 less litres of fuel without a catalyst. Now apply that to your one+ billion vehicles and how much less does the oilfield have to produce? Now, do those benefits in addition to saving all the precious metals that goes into converters outweigh the negative impact of the extra NOx emissions? That's what I'd like to know.

Why are the inards of those converters worth so much money in scrap?
I believe due to the platinum type of metal
There is gold in it!! They don t thell that but it has gold in it!! No joke
i didnt even remove it from the vehicle....blocked it up...zip cut a hole punched it all out and welded it closed.

Palladium currently trading at over $2000 US an ounce. Hope you haven’t cleaned out your vacuum cleaner lol.
How do you know, how much of palladium is inside of 1 cat? What about other metals? How much of rhodium?

I just put highflow cats on my ford falcon and sold the original cats to scrap metals for 100 Australian dollars each. The originals were full of platinum metals he said. Winning

@Gannon Alex glad I could help :)
Did you notice any difference in your Performance/Sound???
If i did that in my shop in cali i would be in prison.
Well....it IS Cali.....The self proclaimed Guardian of The Universe......
only problem you might have is now you get too much gas and thrust..which throws off the tps(throttle position sensor) on some cars..which throws off the solenoid and other transmission sensors...which will cut back your fuel injectors when you need power...on old cars not a problem after 95 if you do this and it runs funny ...now you know why.
Seriously? I have never heard so much bs in one statement.
what is the bs part you heard..not being rude .
just i did my grand cherokee i took it off thinking this would help..it turned out to be tranny solenoids...but with the converter off.my jeep shifted to fast into upper gears...which caused loss of what i call controlled power. put it back on..it works fine and i got my gas mileage back. just saying.
How could pulling the cat off make it shift faster?
robby844
having the converter slows down engine combustion..hence saving gas.thats its purpose...taking it off increases combustion and rpm..and now the tps.and tranny are having a conversation..oh crap let me shift the engine rpm preset in my computer says shift @ blank rpm..i need to shift...so it does..thrust.power.timing..etc..
This is really interesting material. I appreciate the effort you put into providing it. Many thanks!
Someone told me to make some holes on them to see if they were damaged.... they weren't... but now my question is... can weld them to seal the holes and keep on using them???? They are expensive..!
I hope you didnt do that..
You just needed one hole - before & after the cat - to pressure test it if that's what you were attempting. Muffler shops do it all the time, then either plug the holes, or spot weld them over...Not good to do it on your own tho...If you did not damage the insides, yeah, you can use it.
Yea but they are there to help with emissions.
I need that cutting torch
Are 1 billion ppl gonna do this...? Seriously?
@@warrenmorphis4208 This can be understood by developing Jeff's ideas; or maybe it's a distorted understanding due to GT.
