Hi Cyd, Congratulations for your videos about Citroen C1. It really help me a lot to understand my 2008 sensodrive model. I would like to suggest you to group your videos in channels by model/maker, which would help us to go straight to the specific kind. Please continue with your videos, you are Great! Regards,
Great video, everything is very well explained. Me and my son gave it a try, we did just that, using these iridium spark plugs, and now our faithful Peugeot 107 purrs like a newborn kitten. :D
This is a remake really. And those new tech Denso plugs really are good. So I wanted to be thorough because it's the little things that rob you of power and economy. No garage will pay this much attention to detail, but if DIY owners do so, they can cut costs AND extend the life of their cars.
@@CycloneCyd Nearly always do the work on my cars now but leave the oil changes for garages to get the service stamp. I agree too many garages cut corners and never have anyone to complain at doing your own work. Keep it up Sid, you do a great job mate👍
Nice video, thanks Cyd. Just to add you don't need to wiggle the airbox loose if you press the ends of the wide spring clip together (clip show in your vid at 1:05) it releases the rubber section from the top of the throttle body easily, no need for lube before or after though your clip looks a bit rusty, so if that clip is tough to press by hand then it might be easier for some people to leave the rubber section on there and wiggle/pull instead :)
@TinnoRambo improved fuel economy will be down to how the car is driven. We don't monitor fuel economy, but it does drive better, so there probably is a small improvement. My Saab defo uses less on the motorway with these plugs
Its so easy so to change i go the KH16TT plugs for about13 bucks for all 3 instead of nearly 120 buck for all 3 iridium ones, atleast in my country. I always measure the gap and put it at the manual settings for optimal performance, i am used to the wrong gap from factory.
I bought these new plugs for my C1 along with 3 new coils. The problem is the new coil screw holes are at a different angle to the old one's, but I'm assured that these are the correct coils. I just have to find a way to lengthen the electric wires to them to fit...like the video.
go 1 by 1 with the wires , you cut it , strip the insulation on both ends around 2cm (if possible) get a bit of new wire to the length you need , have heat shrink with glue (for a water tight seal) for both ends of the joint , do an X (I think I've heard brits use the term telephone wire joint or something like that for this method , I'm not a native English I don't know) with the end of the new wire and the old and fold them over eachother until you have a straight piece of wire , solder it (make sure it's not a cold solder joint) , slide the heatshrink over the newly soldered joint , apply heat to the heat shrink , alternatively instead of heatshrink with glue you could insulate the joints with electrical tape but it is not a sure 100% water tight deal , after you have done this to all wires to the connector make sure to wrap the new wiring with fabric tape for protection and you are done. It may be a bit of work but this is much better than using mechanical connectors for lengthening wires and if done properly these joints should last the lifespan of the car.
It is Very important to get the part number correct on the new spark plugs - IKH16TT - and do NOT use IK16TT which do fit but have a 8mm shorter threaded section moving the spark tip up in the cylinder away from it's designed place, reducing performance and burn efficiency.
Hi, Great Video, thanks. Did you ever add feedback on how good the spark plugs where over standard? I've priced them up and they are 3 times more expensive, just wondered if they where worth the extra cost? Thanks.
@@CycloneCyd In my C1 i replace oil dipstick o ring. The engine run better, is not suck air, there is not insert moisture in the engine and maybe no loss oil from fumes. Dimensions o ring 8,5mm x 5mm thick 2mm.
Hello from Finland, Cyd! fitted iridium spark plugs into my C1 at 221 thousand km and have done 28 thousand kms after that. The car is running very nicely, and also starting in about minus 20 Celsius wihtout any difficulties. Thanks for the video! BTW, your engine seems nice and clean. Have you done a video about how to clean the engine from the outside? My engine is a little untidy from the outside and I have been thinking to give it a good clean. Any advice on how to do that would be nice. Cheers 😊
Great video, just one question, regarding your video on changing antifreeze,my citreon c1 when the engine gets hot the thermostat should open but the thermostat housing is connected to the bottom hose. At so. E point the bottom hose should get hot but, but mine never does, does that indecate the thermostat is not opening?
@CycloneCyd can you suggest me where i focused on my C1 1.0 light up check engine periodically so OBD read first up O2 sensor as issue I change it with Bosh O2 aftermarket sensor, now OBD say poor mixture err. P0171 I check all air pipes I clean PCV valve n MAP sens. havn’t idea what cause repeatlly issue?

Cyclone Cyd, you are fantastic at explaining stuff - so thorough and comprehensive. I wish you would do a full car repair course.

Nice info. Like you my plugs go in dry. I always use a rubber spark plug insert tool. I always torque too. 👍
Great video and the information is well explained in a not a boring way. 👍🏻

Très bonne vidéo et bravo pour le bon couple de serrage des bougies. 👍🏻
Recently changed the spark plugs in my C1.
I chose NGK LFR6C-11 V-Power.
Is mach cheaper than iridium spark plugs and have longevity 30k Miles.
These iridium plugs are more expensive off the shelf, but are much cheaper in the long run. You might even gain an mpg increasing the savings.

You said the plugs are pregapped at the factory, but what should the gap be?
Do you have any info on the iridium spark plugs for the Saab b207 engines? I'd like to know. Because many say don't use them !

Have i missed the gap distance in mm?
No, you didn't miss it. It's unimportant to us because the plugs are pregapped from the factory. As they are iridium, DO NOT attempt to regap them.
Syd, my SAAB 93 1.9 TiD (150bhp) seems to lose power going up steep inclines. Quite severe an issue when inside in the lake district. Any top tips?
So it is okay on the flat but slow up hills? Sounds like you need to change down the box sooner. Those deisels really aren't that torquey low down
@CycloneCyd going up in second takes it over 3000 RPM on cheeky hills. It's an "engage crawler gear" for hgv kind of gradient.
@@DobbsyLondon how steep are we talking? Anything over 1in8 and loads will struggle
Can I do this without dielectric grease? I don't have any and need to do it for tommorow

I did it without disconnecting the wires.
