I drive a 1989 Suzuki Sidekick. Manual trans. Crank windows, manual locks. Not even power steering. LOVE driving that old thing! And as a valet who drives every car under the sun, I can promise you that shiftin' gears really ain't what it used to be.
I was born in 1968, so the only decades from the 20th century I'm old enough to remember are the 70's, 80"s, and 90's. To me, those were the good old days. Except for having a Smartphone, I'm pretty much stuck in the 20th century way of life. And I like it that way! I can relate to to this song so much! It just speaks to my heart.
Hi Kelly, I was born in 1968 too,and I can relate to everything you said in your comment. I love my smart phone too but I still miss the old days when we used to write letters on paper, and make mixed tapes on our tape recorders! Remember those?😅 I still can't believe that I'm nearly 56 years old, OMG 😅 Love from Amanda in Australia
I'm reaching out to everyone I can. I kinda figured it's very important to show my appreciation for the massive love and support towards my music career we've got a long way here ❤ Thank you so much and I hope you don't stop watching for more.😊
It's nice to hear the usual modern country songs about partyin' and such, but I absolutely love when country songs still carry passion and speak the truth. I love this song.
I love these songs because of the how they are filled with imagery I relate with. They seem to come from a common place of things mothers pass down to daughters, from kitchen scissor haircuts, to punch bowls in the depictions of gatherings, to the way we do not talk about things but say everything. It is the way Mirenda expresses emotion with dramatized retellings and with a sense of lighthearted self-deprecation that feels a little bit like family. The lyrics here are the right reflection of how we, crazy woman, express emotion the way we tend to do. The language of these emotions and experiences are not precisely articulated by words, but with all the other elements the songs convey just the right meaning. It's how her songs capture the lessor understood female expression of personal histories that makes her songs so great.
Real Country Music is still alive and kicking. It's taken a beating over the years with Pop and Rap being thrown in where it doesn't belong, but every now and then a song comes out that takes me back to the good old day's when Country Music was pure gold. This song is one of those songs. Thank you Miranda.
snakebitmgee what the hell is up with the unnecessary capital letters in your comment????? Literally zero words in your comment needed a capital letter. Ok other than Miranda's name. Other than that NONE of the words needed capital letters at the beginning
I'm only 19 and remember my grandma and grandpa even my mom and dad showing me and telling about that life!!! Honestly I would prefer that life style than this life!!! Yes to an extent this life is good but I would love to have grew up in this era of life!!! These days there are to many electronics such as cell phones, video games, etc. Thank You Miranda For making such a true song!!!
I couldn't agree more, the world done got itself all in a hurry. The older generation had everything figured out, the young generation went and complicated everything.
It doesn't matter when you were born, it's what you had while you were being raised. I was born in 1990 and I can completely relate to this song. This song was literally how I was raised. Beautiful.
Last November I gave my daughter her first car. It was a1955 Chevy Belair. Never imagined that a song so close to us would come out in a song from Miranda. How perfect this song is for my daughter and I. We are hundreds of miles apart but it does not even matter.
She did it again! From Small Town to The House That Built Me to Automatic; she is a music writing AVATAR!!~! Miranda never forgets her grass roots; She will eventually go down in history as REIGNING QUEEN OF COUNTRY MUSIC!!!
I miss those times! I was born in 1986 and I still remember recording songs from the radio on the cassette and the video tapes and all the other stuff.
Every time I hear another Miranda Lambert song, it strikes a chord in my heart. Love this lovely young lady and her ability to chose songs that have such deep meaning for people like me. Keep it up, Miranda, and I'll keep buying all your albums!
These lyrics sort of hit me. It's maybe what i've been thinking.. thanks Miranda. We take everything that gets given to us for granted and destroy it and forget that we have to keep and work for the few things we have. Don't give up on your loved one people is my advice. The grass is not greener on the other side. Slow it down. Press reset. Don't let these fast time confuse you.
This song can be so appreciated for those who were around before everything became automatic I wish more people could understand that it’s beautiful and true❤❤❤
You said once that you're building an empire. No one can deny you've done exactly that. Don't let it stand in the way of building a family legacy. George Straight has a song about how it all ain't worth nothin'if you don't have someone to share it with. Yes, you have many, but how bout the one who'll be there when the ride is done? I love you, Miranda, so I'll keep praying for true joy to fill your heart😊😊😊
Did anyone else just close their eyes and hear the voices of Tammy, Loretta, maybe some of Reba in her voice? THAT'S keeping country automatic....just Miranda's way. Amazing.
Miranda looks so beautiful and elegant while reminiscing about the good ol' days while simultaneously lamenting the fact that anything and everything in today's day and age is automated. I'll never, ever, ever grow tired of kicking back in my cowboy boots and listening to Miranda soothe my soul while keeping me both grounded and at total peace.
I sure hope you keep raising to the top. You are a true artist and should not let lifes little setbacks hold you back. Love your music. And remember you are the better woman!!
Nothing is more refreshing than a song about the good ol days instead of beer, jacked up trucks, and mudding. Love how down to earth this is. Miranda is the best!
I dont know if Miranda ever reads this stuff .......Just wanted her to know how her music is so moving and always takes me back to Happy times ....and her voice is I cant even describe how much i love it ......your an amazing girl from what i have seen. keep being you! your songs get me through some rough days ......from a country girl to another :)
This is what I'm looking for! Besides everything being automatic these days, newer country music has no emotion in it or anything. It's all about sitting on a truck drinking and maybe with a woman. Everyone just comes up with a different way to sing about it. Florida Georgia Line has about ten of those songs. Glad someone can still come up with something good! Go Miranda!
This is a really great song. I'm only 28, but I completely relate. I already miss the "good ol' days". And I'm a computer programmer so my entire life is computers... So yeah. I think people are getting too used to things being automated. The best things in life are simple.
Great song ! Take me back to when I was a young child and a teenager. Those days were the best times to be in. It just a shame those days are gone. Like they never happen.
A world premiere of the lead single song of your new album and you only get 484 views in 7 hours? ... Your kidding me? .... Were are all the other Miranda Lambert fans besides me?
I'm so glad you made this song Miranda Lambert! This song has so much meaning and feeling. It reminds me so much of the past . When grandma and grandpa's were alive ,people had respect and morals. Good old days are forever gone. They never be back .. Thank you Miranda for another amazing song!!!!!
I love this song Miranda! I cried honestly. So sad how so many today expect everything handed to them on a silver platter. :( Keep it up! Your hard work paid off for you!
I’ve never been a country music fan but Miranda Lambert and Automatic have changed all that. This is among my all-time favorite songs now and ML is on my short list of favorite artists.
Thank you for your kind word.. I'm blessed to have such a fan following keep calm and stay country 🤠 Bet you're truly a fan of me ? If yes mail me directly
Thank you so much for the great love and support towards my music I really appreciate can't do this without you all❤ I have burden in my heart I wish to share with you.this has to do with my mental health 😞
I love this song! Kids today just don't know how spoiled they really are, with cell phones, video games, computers and cars that almost drive themselves. Americans really have lost something in the past 15 or 20 years.....Their patience, their tolerance, their independence, their drive, their will, their faith, their compassion, their endurance, their morals.........
She's 31... and talking about pocket watches and drying clothes on a line... This song is just pandering to 70+ year olds who actually did do those things. She has two producers on this track plus an uncredited vocalist. She did not do this song old-fashioned. Also she supports piracy..? Interesting. Garbage. I miss country singers that actually tried to be unique, such as Dixie Chicks.
Yea we should go back to Polaroid Cameras! Let's go back to not having cellphones and having to carry change in our pockets to find a giant box to stand in just to talk on the phone because that's so much more convenient lol
Miranda I’ve lllooovvveeed you and your music for a long time!!! Reminds me of my childhood quite a bit!!! Thank you 😊!!! And also you and your husband are preciously beautiful!!! XOs and I pray for y’all and mb will see you in concert one day!!! ✨

You are in for a treat. Miranda is an amazing singer/songwriter with a beautiful voice and personality. She is a bad ass country girl with a marsh mellow heart.
Jeremy Ferraro here country boy way of life I’m a big fan I truly believe in you and your love of music and your love for me! I wish I could come to Nashville with the chance to go on stage
Every one of these ladies are an amazing talent in their own right, together they define what the very best of music can be, on this song they have made a "Musical Memory" and that is rare in my 71 years.
It's no contest, she's richer than her ex, she's better looking, better voice, better song writer, musician and a smile that lights up a whole room. There's an old saying "don't throw your pearls before swine."
liktom Yo man, who cares which one is richer, better looking, etc. as long as they are both happy now. It’s their personal stuff, none of yours or anybody’s business. That’s what’s wrong with the World today, everyone is in everyone else’s business.
Just popping in 8 years later in 2022 to let everyone know that this was THE song that made this "anything but country" guy a country music fan.
I'll be 81 in May & Miranda is my favorite female singer Love her personality & her great music.Texas proud.
I reckon I was born to like a song like this
Awesome song, Life was so much better back before cell phones and the internet.

One of the greatest songs ever written
It's nice to hear the usual modern country songs about partyin' and such, but I absolutely love when country songs still carry passion and speak the truth. I love this song.

I'm 12, so why is this song giving me nostalgic feelings for something that I have never experienced?
because everyone realizes how worse off we actually are, were one step away from being robots at this point.

I love THIS SONG!!!!!!
The good old days
Love the backroads and scenery. Reminds me so much of my own youth, and friends I've lost over the years .
Miranda looks incredible!
Great lyrics. Reminds me of my childhood in the 70s. Very different - and arguably better - times.
