- Today I show you how to make veggie broth in the instant pot from scraps! It is sooo easy to do and saves you money from ever having to buy broth again!
How to make veggie broth in instant pot- add in veggie scraps and enough water to cover them- i usually do 8 cups water and 8 cups of scraps
Set instant pot to "soup/broth" button for 60 minutes. Do a full natural release at the end. The whole process will take about 2 hours total.
Strain out the broth with a mesh strainer and pour the broth in glass containers.

I have a 3 gallon plastic bag I keep in the freezer and just throw scraps in. When it’s full I make broth and freeze. I use all my veggie scraps including beet top stems, broccoli stems and etc. It turns out really good! I always use the papers of onions and garlic. I compost the rest too.
Me too.
That looks so great. Just make sure if you freeze the broth you leave about an inch of space for expanding on the jar. I had to throw away a couple cracked jars by filling them to full and putting it in the freezer too warm. 🙃 thanks for the great video 🎉
I never thought to us my Instant Pot for this! I've been making mine on the stove, which is a big pain. 😄
You need a brand deal with Instant Pot. Best spokesperson ever 😃
I do this also but freeze them in the souper cubes silicone 1 cup molds. Once frozen I pop them into baggies. When I need I thaw in microwave
I need some of those molds!
I’ve been doing this for awhile now, and it works great. I just throw all my scraps in a gallon bag and freeze til I’m have enough to make broth! Glad you’re doing a video on it for viewers who didn’t know this hack 👍🏼😄
Yum. Thank you very much.
Thanks for the recipe and great use of food waste. I was wondering if you have ever tried using pressure cooker in your instant pot for the veggie stock recipe please? It should speed up the process and be even more cost effective.
Great video! I never thought about putting apple cores in. The lemon ginger broth sound amazing. Thank you for sharing. Have a great week
Very helpful! Thanks.
I'm so excited. I always make my own broth but never thought to use the pressure cooker.
Thank you for sharing this. Will be saving all my food scraps and making my own veggie broth. Excited!!
I love doing this! Haven’t done it in a while but now I’m inspired to make some again 😋
That’s great to hear! I’m gonna do it more often now too!
I tried making my own broth but I guess I didn't have the right combo because it was tasteless. Never thought to add the bay leaves. I always put my scraps in large baggies in the freezer and then just dump them into the instant pot. Thanks for more ideas.
You absolutely can can that broth but you have to follow the guideline. It is very easy though. Broth needs to be pressure canned so you need a pressure canner. Presto make a good one and also if you are considering to get another instant pot, the max has that function. You would also be able to can your own tomatoes with no salt. Seriously it is very easy but you need to follow specific guidelines to be safe. But don’t let that intimidate you it is an easy process. You can can just about any vegetable, I know you go to the farmers market which are great places to score veggies that are in season and canned them and then you can have fresh canned veggies all year long that you know exactly what is in it. If you would like more information I’d be happy to recommend some reputable reliable UA-cam canning channels there’s about a bazillion of them but they don’t always follow updated guidelines they follow their great great grandma‘s recipe whatever.
Wow that would be amazing!!
you can pour into ice cube trays, freeze, then put cubes in a zip lock bag
thats a great idea!
Mushrooms also give you a darker broth.
Reuse those green onion ends…put rooted ends into a cup with water and they will regrow 😉
You can pressure can broth, meats and low acid veggies but not water bath can it.
Cool thanks! Obviously you use organic veggies right? Cause
yes its all organic! I think thats important for this recipe
Chanty, Have you ever heard of a UA-camr name Adeline Zook? She have a couple of video about canning.

Fyi apple seeds have arsenic so you may want to remove them next time
You have to eat a ton of them to be affected
@@Lazydaisy646 not a ton and more importantly you don’t want to and them all the time
How come you don't vacuum seal it?
I dont have one!
👋 Chanty, You kinda 👀 like a Blonde version of Bella Denapoli. She was on Ariana Grande Team on The Voice. 🎤 🎼 🎶 🎵 She from New York. She Italian. 🇮🇹
I think you need to be a little careful as some items are poisonous, e.g. bell pepper stems, apple seeds.
I knew about apple seeds but bell pepper stems are poisonous?! i didnt know this!
