Good video Abbie. You make me want to try you tubing at some point. If I ever do, you’ll have watch and like if it’s not too bad. Then I’ll have at least one view and a like.

Good video & lots of ideas for kit. We are experienced hikers & are doing this with our daughters next April. One thing I have that you didn’t mention, is a hiking solar panel so I can charge what I need to at night. Good kit though & it’s always good to get other people’s perspectives. PS: I know how to use a compass! 😂

@@billyspencer7325 of course not, however, the solar panel charges the battery pack through the day so it’s fully charged to charge devices overnight. I didn’t honestly think THAT would need explanation, but here we are 🤷‍♂️

Of the long trails you have hiked in the UK, which would you most likely recommend. If you had to choose only 1.
I am coming to the UK (from Canada) for a long walk.
I will have about 7 to 10 days to hike (plus 2 days on the front of that for travel and 2 days on the back of that for travel).
I have extensive camping experience and some hiking experience.
I am accustomed to remote areas (Canada).

Thats an ace question. Well with that length of time you could either take on two shorter walks, or one medium length. The longer ones take 2+ weeks to walk. Maybe you could do a variety such as the West Highland Way (that will show you a bit of Scotland) and Hadrian's Wall? It depends what you want in a trail. Mountains - Cumbria Way, West Highland Way, Breacons Way etc.. Coastal Path - South West Coastal Path, Pembrokeshire Coastal Path, Isle of Wight Coastal Path etc... Archaeology - Hadrian's Wall, Ridgeway etc... Seeing the UK countryside - Thames path, Two Moors Way, Cotswold Way, Yorkshire Wolds Way, Cleveland Way, South Downs Way etc... I have deliberately only highlighted walks you could complete with the time you have, except the south west coastal path, although it is easy to do a stretch of that. If you did the SWCP then I would suggest walking linear either through Dorset or Cornwall. You could aim to do the entire Dorset Coastal stretch or something like that. Hope this helps!

Really useful video. Thank you. Just one thing, do you have any idea what the total weight was as I don't recall you mentioning the total weight you carry for that kind of walk. Your videos have helped inspire me and I am looking to do one of the national trails with my dog at some point in the future to try and improve my mental and physical health. Just in the process of planning and preparing but I have reservations as she is a very large mountain dog and i've got stuck before in the lake district up on a mountain in bad weather when I haven't been able to lift her over a stile which was a bit worrying at the time. Anyway, looking forward to your next adventure.

You forgot toilet paper😊 or did i miss that? Im saving for a one week trip for a hike in scotland. I need some new hiking trousers, maybe rain outfit, a bigger backpack and some drybags. Its brutal how expensive hiking stuff is in switzerland, if you look for quality stuff. I have the akto too, i‘ll try to stuff it in the backpack.

    Hey Abbie,
I love your videos! Thanks for this one as well. One thing I noticed, though - seems to be quite a heavy load you have there for such a "short" outing. Of course, you mention the functional vs ultralight thing, so we are all different. Me - I came in around 4,5kg for 400 kilometers on the Camino de Santiago. I got everything into the Osprey Talon 33 with space to spare :-)
