@@kellyottarson3810 Hi Kelly, in Britain we have this dessert bread and butter baked in a raw egg custard, we also have a cake called bread pudding which I've never made but it required soaking stale bread mixing with spices and sugar and baking. It would be easier and quicker to butter the bread before you cut the crusts off and in half. I like the crusts on mine as they make a lovely crispy texture to the pudding.
Thanks for this reminder of a pudding i loved, all new leftover if any was booked for me. We did it slightly different in South Africa by spreading smooth apricot jam onto buttered bread or if you didn’t want it too sweet putting teaspoons full here and there when the egg had been absorbed slightly on top we sprinkle a 10 to 1 mix of sugar and cinnamon before baking. Now I’m drooling, will have to make it for the Spanish side of the family especially my grandson.
Going 'round in a circle is just To draw attention to the growing glory of cutting into it. I've never had custard with it, though. I think I'll stick to making more baked custard in a deeper pan with the bread. It's the cream brulee effect that I like, despite being a lushious custard fan, especially using your ingredients and method.
Creme brulee is Definately more difficult as the cooking temp must be so much lower, so yeah you should find this one easier. But hopefully just as lovely? Thanks for the compliment
I'm British born of Barbadian parents and I miss my late mothers bread and butter pudding she'd make it specially for me. I continue to make it her way. RIP Mummy
Yes I must say. That bread and butter pudding is delightful. I made it here in the states , and Mexican at that. Just as good and tasty , and delightful. Yum.

Alas! I am the only one who will eat it and I love it so.....my grandmother would make this....and on days when the pantry was low she fed us a cheaper version....buttered toast sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and hot milk poured over top. We called it milk toast

i was just talking to a friend about ''back in the day"" bread and butter pudding. And here you are with this wonderful demonstration. only one thing.. I was a little surprised you did not include the crusts.. I always remember the extra, different flavour boost with the crust. It was fantastic to see the ''savoury version'' added in the comments from the 75 years old lady. That sounded scrumptious. I will definitely be giving that a whirl.

Have to agree some of these cooks / chefs waste so much 😡

It would be easier and quicker to butter the bread before you cut the crusts off and in half. I like the crusts on mine as they make a lovely crispy texture to the pudding.
That sounds 😋 yummy
Thanks for this reminder of a pudding i loved, all new leftover if any was booked for me. We did it slightly different in South Africa by spreading smooth apricot jam onto buttered bread or if you didn’t want it too sweet putting teaspoons full here and there when the egg had been absorbed slightly on top we sprinkle a 10 to 1 mix of sugar and cinnamon before baking. Now I’m drooling, will have to make it for the Spanish side of the family especially my grandson.
Thank you
This looks amazing . . . moved from Ireland to Newcastle upon Tyne for 10yrs and never tried B+B pudding 🤔 I think I missed out.
Definitely going to try this recipe, so far the best and easy recipe of bread and butter pudding thanks
I’d need five times that amount of custard! Lovely, easy to follow recipe. Thanks for sharing. 😊

I’m definitely making this. I make great creme brûlée so I think I can pull this off. You’re hilarious btw. 😂. Thx for this video.
Creme brulee is Definately more difficult as the cooking temp must be so much lower, so yeah you should find this one easier.
But hopefully just as lovely?
Thanks for the compliment
That's the best Bread and Butter Pudding I've seen and I've seen heaps of them....love the Jam on top.. Cheers
Love it Matt!! This is something I really miss about living in England 🏴
Brits make the best bread and butter pudding it’s just a fact.
Thanks Sonny, I got your other messages as well, really appreciate you taking the time to explain. Have a great Christmas
This is exactly how it should be, my favourite dessert
I'm British born of Barbadian parents and I miss my late mothers bread and butter pudding she'd make it specially for me. I continue to make it her way. RIP Mummy
Yes I must say. That bread and butter pudding is delightful. I made it here in the states , and Mexican at that. Just as good and tasty , and delightful. Yum.
👍👍👍👍⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Outstanding job! Just the recipe I have been hunting down for many months.Thank you ver much. I particularly love your unique finishing touchs of apricot/marmalade, sugar sprinkle and "setting it aglow"! Heading out now to Lowes to get my little blowtorch.....
thanks so much for your kind words, hope you b&b pud is lovely
Bloody good. I'm divorced so I can really up the raisin content - well soaked in something first, of course,
whiskey is probably the best booze even if you don't like it, it seems to work so well with desserts with custard, thanks Lawrence
@John Coffee Jack would be perfect and marmalade also goes really well with whiskey, so a couple of spoons for glaze would be gorgeous.
Thanks for subscribing, it means a lot
I like to soak mine in spiced rum. Yummy
@@shaggydog563 really nice with rum, and a splash in the custard too?
@@shaggydog563 Mmmm. Rum in bread and butter pudding. Mmmm. I think I have a few ml of rum left. And 3 types of bread halves in the freezer.
Even if I can't cook it , I still enjoy watching you I love your ancient
thanks
Alas! I am the only one who will eat it and I love it so.....my grandmother would make this....and on days when the pantry was low she fed us a cheaper version....buttered toast sprinkled with cinnamon sugar and hot milk poured over top. We called it milk toast
Ahh, the memories of childhood. Milk toast was one of my favorites.
Wonderful. My favorite dessert. I will try make it. Thank you
Amazing recipe!! My dad made this bread pudding and it was sooo delicious! 😋 Your right, I soaked it in the custard and it was even better. Thanks for sharing this recipe!
.....Yum. Not seen a B&B look that delicious for 30 years - certainly a HUGE difference to school dinner lady attempts. Great recipe with relationship tips too.
Thanks Jill
Oh, my stars!!! That looks beyond delicious. Thank you for a proper and clear demonstration of a childhood favourite for your British and Irish viewers. I got given a Pantone for Christmas and it is in my larder taking up room. Do you think that for one time only - just to get rid of it - I could use it for a bread and butter pudding? My little ears picked up at soaking the currants in rum. Yum yum!! You have just got a new subscriber by the way. Great presentation.
Thank you so much and yes use that panettone, you would have to cut into thicker pieces probably but it will be proper lush as they say in my part of the world
I have used stale scones to make bread and butter pudding, too. It was delicious. I only make a small one, now that I live alone.
Lovely recipe, you had me going with the traditional custard rotation thing, you know it's going to be a permanent folklore from now on. Cheers from Adelaide in South Australia. Paul
Thanks for that, it was weird that I did the custard rotation thing?
i was just talking to a friend about ''back in the day"" bread and butter pudding.
This is fabulous I have become addicted to it and it is so easy to make thanks.
Omg I've never attempted to make bread and butter pudding. So checked pretty much all the vids but gotta say yours was the best ever so thank you! Will be trying this out. Xxxx
Really enjoyed watching the Bread an Butter pudding video. Uncle Matt made it seem like even I could make that custard and I'm going to try for our next Zydeco party. Bread pudding is a favorite amongst the fans of both types of Louisiana's French music, but it's made differently. I'm willing to take the risk and bring this kind. Looks and seems totally yummy!
Best ever, can't wait to give it a go😊👍
Lovely very nicely explained
Great! I’ve been looking for a decent bread and butter pudding tutorial for ages. Found it now - just in time for all those winter dinners! Thanks.x
I couldn't agree more.

Could someone please give me the recipe to bread and butter pudding please
Please what is it, the recipe for bread & butter pudding
I am so glad to see you scrape the bowl with a spatula. So many chefs and cooks who have tv shows do not and waste much of the products.
Yay! Finally someone that knows how to make B&B pudding! Enjoyed your vid, like cooking with my mate...new sub here
Such a nice thing to say, happy new year
my thoughts exactly everything else ive seen a recipe for is always dry in the end this is definitely a must to try
Love Bread and Butter pudding, my favorite,, but I do leave the crust on my bread.. it gives a crunchy texture when cooked.. delicious 😋😋
thank you Margaret, I do hope you can watch a few more of my videos, this video is really quite old and I think I've improved somewhat since then. Thank you in advance Matt x
I make this and add a can of crushed pineapple. Delicious
