Too much coughing for me to enjoy, I regret to say. I am sorry for the illness and discomfort by the people there, many of whom are clearly unwell. I do appreciate your kindness in posting it, however. There will be people for whom a historical recording like this one will bring great pleasure. Thank you again for posting this.
Some truly amazing moments in the mandara sthaayi. Very difficult to listen to using head phones. Non stop coughing, blowing of noses and near continuous off key humming. Wonderful post. Hari
This is obviously recorded in open hall off the speakers and with it, all the ambient sound debris . How I wish this was a clear rec off the mike ! superb alap ! One of the Pandit's best . Blessed to hear this.
During winter soirees, true blue Calcuttan bongs instead of clapping or appreciating (wah) are used to coughing and sneezing one by one. It is their cultured manners. RS knew.

The rendition is unique. I feel as if dusk is very slowly covering me with sadness with a bit of happiness.

Excellent. No match and I think when this rendition was given Panditji was on the top of his calling.
This is a classic rendition of a raga, with alap, jod, jhala and alap, incomparable.

Divine Alaap for which Pandit Ravi Shankar was wellknown takes one deep inwards. Could the unwanted sounds be filtered?
Was this recording made in a TB ward?
Beautiful rendition in alap, jod and jhala as well as gut in pancham savari and drut in ektal, only coughing of audience is irritating.
Recording is not so good, but amazing sound of Tabla from Pt.Kishen Maharaj.
Sounds quality not good
People destroyed this beautiful recording... Oh my sick Calcutta. Where were ur manners!!!!
