QUINTET - by Michael Kamen
This quintet was commissioned by Canadian Brass and has enjoyed great popularity since it's debut. The audio is from the recording Canadian Brass: Takes Flight. The sheet music and CD can both be ordered at Canadianbrassstore.com.
Most beautiful piece ever written for a brass quintet. RIP Michael Kamen.
You should listen to White Rose Elegy if you haven't already. In my own opinion, That's one of the most beautiful I've ever heard. as well as this one here. Michael Kamen had a lot of good work.
Wonderful composition, this great composer has passed away far too early... Thanks maestro Kamen for what you have left us with your music... Many Blessings, Max T.
This is glorious. I loved it so much that I put it in my favorite's bar to hear it months later, (for when I graduated 8th grade) and it was once again extraordinary.
Gives me chills. I am so lucky to have performed this with really excellent players at the Humboldt State Brass Chamber Music Workshop in Northern California. I love this piece.
Beautiful!!
Also called "Magic Horn" in one of the Canadian Brass filmed videos
You may be confused. The Quintet is featured on the Canadian Brass CD recording called 'Magic Horn'. canadianbrassstore.com/canadian-brass-magic-horn-cd/
Perfect!!!!👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 Brazil 😉👍
Wow! I am speechless. My music isn't half as great as this!
Bravo
I think the trumpets are actually pitched in c...
The entire score is in concert pitch.
@@brianbarry5039 It's played on Bb horns. C horns don't have a low concert F. You could try to sound it as a pedal tone, but it will never sound like a full tone.
Beautiful! Kudos to the performers and composer.
(Is this a slow movement from a larger work?)
SOBIESKI No it's just Quintet
Malburg36 Just a single-movement work?
Saddly
@@Malburg36 "just" and "quintet" don't go well together in one sentence ;-)
This is literally the most moving song I have ever heard. On par with Chorale of Jupiter.
I don't know, maybe it's me, but the horn part sounds so much higher than it really is. Glad they put this out so I could figure it out! Awesome piece!
***** Could be. I took my horn to the shop yesterday, and it won't be done for about a week, so I haven't had the chance to figure it out yet!
macnutpro13 It's in concert pitch, the horn notes are (transposed) a fifth higher if I remember correctly :)
@@orunneir9134just the final horn statement...the rest of the Horn part is Cor en Fa (Horn in F).
You are correct. The highest note in the Horn part is a written G just above the staff (only one time). The lowest, however, is a written F below the Treble Clef staff (played twice in a row). Quite a few top-line Fs, though.
Legal mas as notas da partituras não são esse tom. Mas é top
did the horn player take it up an octave at the beginning?
its all in concert pitch because its a score
El papel de trompa está mal puesto, está transportado.
+pablolevel El papel de trompa está en Do
Si, tienes razón. Perdona.
