I’ve already written a full thesis about this movie in my head and I’ve only seen the trailers. I really like what they are doing with Ken. Most girls playing with Barbies don’t care about Ken AT ALL. You have a Ken so Barbie can have a boyfriend. But they also don’t really know what having a bf means. So in the last trailer he wants to stay over, but he doesn’t know why. I also think the scene with him wanting to be a Doctor isn’t him being sexist “but I’m a man”, it’s him saying “but I’m a human”. Ken never gets to be a doctor/president/vet/lawyer etc, he’s just Barbie’s bf.
I actually wondered the same about “but I’m a man.” Of course, it could be applied to both. After all, the fact that humankind = man, but ALSO male human [for some areas in the world anyway] could be yet another layer to this. Like you said, it’s Barbie’s world and Ken is basically an accessory; the opposite is/was true in the ‘real world.’ Oh(!) and to your point about the “we should be boyfriend girlfriend” scene from the last trailer- The dolls speaking as if controlled by a child suggests that the film is going to be a coming-of-age story, in addition to fish-out-of-water.
I heard an interesting theory: Will Farrell's character wears a pink shirt and tie and has a pink chair. So the theory is that he's an escaped Ken doll. I hope that's the case, i love the idea of a rogue Ken 😂
That is my theory. I think Will Ferrells' character, as Mattell CEO, was a former Ken that escaped "Barbieland" after becoming self aware, and never went back. His pink shirt, and tie, and pink CEO chair are clues. I believe some of the Kens are tired of living in all the Barbies shadows and may try to take over. I also believe that Michael Cera's doll, Alan, the only one not a "Ken" is going to be more important than is being shown, because during the choreographed dance scene all the Kens and Barbies are doing, he is off to the side, doing his own thing and dancing to his own beat, which is the track to one of the songs in the background 😂
Wow, Barbie looks phenomenal for 64 years old! 😄 She was “born” a month before me. As a low-income senior I wait for reviews and borrow select movies from the library when they’re on DVD. I think the first Avatar is the last time I was motivated to actually go to the theater. But I’m going to the theater for opening day of Barbie and saying “Take my money!”
It blows my mind that you are the first reactors I’ve seen to make note of “back in a box.” The dying bit and that were the two most prominent moments of the trailer for me. Then there’s Morpheus!Barbie, of course.😝
I think Ken is going to be the villain in this movie. There is a part in the trailer where "Barbieland" turns to "Kendom"... seems like there is going to be a civil war in Barbieland.
I actually think that that’s gonna be the plot too. Ryan Gosling already revealed in an interview that the Kens in Barbie Land don’t really have a good life. They’re all homeless (I guess since Mattel, the company who makes the dolls, never actually created a house for Ken) and don’t have any money. All the major jobs in Barbie Land are done by barbies and Ken is just there to be her boyfriend. So I think Ryan Gosling’s Ken is going to realise that in ‘the real world’ men have jobs too and aren’t just accessories to women, which is gonna cause a conflict in Barbie Land.
It looks similar to Enchanted and The Lego Movie. Kate's character offering Barbie a choice is similar to The Matrix. In the earlier trailer Barbie drove by a cinema with posters of The Wizard Of Oz characters so Barbie going on a journey is similar to Dorothy. The four girls who don't play with Barbie anymore are either representing Myscene or Bratz dolls.
Good Morning Cinemando team🏜 ,I am not that crazy about barbie or her movies, but to be honest, my sister's little girls are always interested in barbie more than anything else 😀👍....she will definitely go to see it movie...

Great theory! Can’t wait to see if it’s true!
I think he was the only actor who wasn’t identified whether he was human or another Ken in the posters?

❤️good theory right!? ❤️
Just discovered it's from Greta Gerwig and am sold.
Same! ❤️⭐️

Oh shit - love that bonkers theory!
I think so too. In Barbie Land he’s the supportive boyfriend. But with exposure to Real World men he decides the story to be all about him / men.
@@KarenLeeArtist ken becomes a sigma male🗿😂

Margot robbie looks uber cute in this film.she had that teenage knack in her 😅
She’s got the right spirit!
