- In this video, Jimmy Akin joined me to review the STRANGEST Christian movie ever produced. The movie is called "Black Easter." The plot: time travel is invented accidentally, and a wealthy extremist Muslim uses it to send a special forces team back in time to kill Jesus privately before he can be publicly crucified/resurrected.

11:28 My favorite movie announcing that it is based on a true story is Anchorman. It announces boldy at the beginning, "The following is a true story. Only the names, places, dates, and events have been changed."
It’s back, woop woop!
Glad to get a 2nd chance to hear yalls review!
Shoutout to Capturing Jimmy!
yesss! you two should make a series just reviewing christian movies and shows
They should watch Prince of Egypt, greatest Christian movie ever.
I honestly admire anyone who decided to watch the film.
More film reviews would be nice to see from you guys ! 👍
This reminds me of that Saturday Night Live skit in 2000 about the Terminator being sent to prevent Jesus from being crucified and he keeps killing people, much to Jesus' chagrin
The MAD Greatest Action Story Ever Told scared me as a kid in a church. Could have be been brave to know why they played it.
@Myoungkyun It was hilarious. "What", "He'll be back!"
I want Jimmy and Dom to make his own MST3k kind of channel/videos.
Would be amazing
The intro narration reminds me of "Michael" from AA-1025 😂
Candidates for “worst Christian movie” anybody? I nominate “God is Not Dead” -despite Kevin Sorbo, who imho makes watching even a bad movie worthwhile.
Great commentary - there's a part of me that wants to see this movie now - albeit a very tiny part.
More movie reviews...Yes!!!
Subscribed.
This movie sounds insane. I really like the premise but that acting...watched to the end. I'm now going to watch this movie.
They’re getting better…. but still have a long way to go. I’m not sure Evangelicals will ever make really good movies. They seem to have a firm belief that if the movie doesn’t include an explicit call to accept Jesus as your personal savior ( using a troubled character as the proxy for the audience), then they have failed to evangelize- and evangelizing is the whole point of making the movie. Preaching spoils a movie. Good preaching may be an art form, but storytelling is a different art with different rules. And when movie-makers don’t believe that a message can be subtly insinuated into the human psyche by storytelling, but rather believe the message needs to be wielded like a baseball bat - they will never achieve great storytelling artistry even if they hire excellent actors.
God bless everyone
I was about to be all the more baffled that they made two movies with the same bizarre plot, but it turns out that it is the same movie, but it was titled Assassin 33 AD when I saw it, rather than Black Easter. It was fun for me and a group of friends to watch on our "so bad it is good" movie night, and a good choice for a strange movie review as well.
When I first saw the title I was hoping it would be an adaptation of the James Blish novel, "Black Easter," no matter how bad. That would also be a very weird Christian movie.
love it
Jimmy should check out The Lost Skeleton of the Cadaver. It's budget but it's one of my favorite, "horror," movies ever made in the style of old 60s black and white horror.
I *LOVE* The Lost Skeleton of Cadavra! It's *awesome*! I've seen the shared-universe sequels and have multiple books by Larry Blamire, who I also have communicated with via social media.
@@JimmyAkin that's awesome! I know other movies exist, but I actually have yet to see any of them. I am pretty certain that I even own the sequel, but I never got around to watching it. The first one is great, though, and super quotable.
CAN you please talk about The exorcism of roman doe
Could the beginning of the movie where they claim they won all these awards, could that be a play on the time travel aspect of the movie? Like, “this is time travel, we can see the future.”
It doesn’t justify lying, but it would explain it in a very odd way.
My thoughts too! 😊
The movie is blasphermy and should not be promoted.
Is it worth my time to watch this movie first? That’s the million dollar question here
Not really. I just watched it, giving it a shot after watching a couple minutes of this video. It’s pretty bad. But hey, some others here seem to have liked it, so you never know, maybe you would too.
I kinda like some scenes
Writing a screenplay is as easy as painting a portrait.
Can you paint a portrait?
Knowing a bad dialogue doesn't mean you know how to write a good one.
Go ahead and try to write multiple lines of dialogues that sound natural, have personality, and move the plot forward.
Movie time! 🎟️🍿
LoL this was awesome haha
Zombies? They could have done a world where eye-for-an-eye justice continued ( or give double back for what was done to you), ruled by warlords, no cultural assumption about having to treat people well unless there’s something in it for you…The nightmare future would have been harder to write than zombies, but would make more sense.
This is so hard to watch. ima have to tap out.
Get Jim Carroll on your channel, Cameron
I saw this movie before it was renamed and I liked it, maybe I am strange. Question for Cameron, why must there be realism? I watch a movie to escape not to see real life.
Even a fantasy movie needs elements of realism to be engaging and for good storytelling. JRR Tolkein said about fantasy stories that the more weird things are happening to a character, the more ordinary the character needs to be for the audience/ reader to be able to connect with the story. If Frodo and Sam had been neurotic nut cases LOTR would have been a terrible story. If you have a character who is surrounded by bizarre things, and that character is also spouting strange dialog and has weird thought patterns, then it feels more like you’re viewing an Alice-in-Wonderland hallucination rather than a good story. Marvel characters may have superpowers and get immersed in fantastic events, but they are given rational dialog, motivations, and relatable personalities.
Manos.....
This is fun alrite 😂🎉
No matter how bizarre. !
I’m sure you will find a way to hijack it .
More bad movie reviews. Was that woman extra at the foot of the Cross really playing in the sand? What was that all about
Is it weirder than the Bible?
That movie sounds like garbage
"The Most BIZARRE Christian Film EVER" ... Aren't they all?!
No
It doesn’t really make sense for a Muslim to want to kill Jesus since they revere Him as the second greatest prophet in Islam.
Yeah, I looked at the blurb and "whoever conceived this plot knows nothing about Islam as a belief system beyond whatever rubbish they were told about it by a biased Christian commentator". It makes about as much sense as a movie about Christians going back in time to assassinate King David. I've known Muslim folks who had a greater reverence for Jesus and His teachings than some Christians do.
A prophet who failed miserably.
@@MatrixRefugee They revere a man Muhammad called Isa. According to Muhammad, he was not crucified, nor did he die.
However, if he was secretly killed Jesus, then Christianity would never exist. However, it is highly unlikely Islam would have arisen out of the mind of Muhammad.
they revere a made up jesus , not the real Jesus God the Son. it would not be surprising for them to try to kill Him, as they would regard the real Jesus as fake, and their Issa prophet as the real one.
Rubbish they don’t love Jesus they like isa fake Jesus
Wow this sounds terrible. The original is on 'look movie 2.to'.... at 109 minutes, I'm not sure I'd want to waste my time.
