They even asked questions to Canadian Permanent Resident status. In 2018 at Frankfurt Airport (via connection), they asked a Canadian PR holder at boarding gate to show proof that he is a resident of Canada. They asked for his Canadian Drivers License and Canadian Medical Card to prove he is a Canadian Resident. They also asked if he converted his PR status through student route. Keep in mind that Canadian PR card holders require minimum 2 years of stay within Canada out of every 5 year period to maintain PR status.
Just to correct the host, any Canadian flight needs to have pre clearance . There is no visa officer assigned and the system pre screen the applicant. Canada visa is very simple and straightforward however you have to truthful and clear about your travel plans.
But Mr. Amarjot Singh ji, didn't you founded it strange that he got trapped in hongkong? That decision should be made by a higher level visa officer or at the Canadian airport but at hongkong, Very strange.... Looks like she's might be a locally assigned Immigration officer ( she isn't Canadian citizen for sure) and she's couldn't digest that how could normal looking guy's gets a visa.

But what I can suggest u is don't apply till 2020 finish. make CA CERTIFICATE of allover ur networth income If u are married apply with ur wife together. If u have property make property valuation documents also. And do mention previously ur visa is rejected. And make sure take direct flight to the destination where u are going in Canada. Hey you done a mistake you fly from India to Hong Kong and it's a negative impact.
