Thank you doctor. I feel hopeful. My 11 year old son had a complete fracture of ulna and a hairline fracture in distal on right wrist. They was far less damage than some of these examples. The doctor insisted surgery but i have insisted on reductions. The reductions are working well. Thankful for doctors like you who believe in allowing the body to do what it was created for and using surgery as a second resort.
Unfortunately you did not talk about displaced fracture of the ulna and radius instable and what you do in such cases..some distal fracture of the radius with displacement can't be reduced with close réduction...do you sue open réduction...and how to stabilise the fracture?..thank you for this video .
Thanks for your comment. In some cases, I cannot get closed reductions. In these cases, I do a 2-3 mm incision and use a curve hemostat to hinge the fracture and get my reduction, then I pin the fracture using K wires
I healed yesterday and started wrist physio and I thought I should play ps4 but of course and thankfully the raging gave me tons of new movements in my wrist
Thanks for the comment. In general, most cases can be managed by closed reduction only. When the reduction is unstable, or if re-displacement happens, you need to do internal fixation.
Hello, My son is 12 yrs old and had a Salter Harris Type 2 Fracture on the right wrist, he had a closed reduction with wires put in 2 days ago and the day after he noticed popping, snapping, clicking type sound in the area where the cast is. He has no pain but he was not sure if that was normal or not. I called the Orthopedic Surgeon's office but he was in surgery and the nurse told me as long as there was no pain when it does the popping, snapping, clicking sound then once we get in for a follow up I can tell him then. I am a little worried, any suggestions on what it could be? he says it like popping your fingers, thats how he would describe it. I would appreciate it if you could give me any info. Thanks
I broke my wrist and arm at the same time and my left arm lacks behind in growth my ulna is way shorter and my tendons are also shorter is there anything I can do about it or am I gonna have to wait and see? BTW I'm broke my wrist and arm at 5 and I'm now 15
Sir, Same kind of sugery was done in india for my sisters son at the age of 10 for fracture of radius and ulna in the middle of arm. The doctor put two wires in both the bones, one passing through growth plate of the radius bone.Afterwards ulna wire was removed by the doctors in u.k. but the radius wire was not removed saying it is passing through the growth plate and growth may be affected.NOW he is 23 and his radius was 2 cm shorter than ulna and the hand is bent and the arm is lean when compared to otherone. Please suggest what to do?
Hello. I have a question that may not pertain to the wrist, but it might pertain to orthopedics. Have you ever heard of a Doorknocker's sign? I have searched the internet and can find nothing about this. I would appreciate any information you might be able to share with me.

I broke my wrist and a growth plate sealed up. My broken wrist also looks slightly deformed compared to my other. What can be done?

Thanks for such an informative video. Could you please spesifiy, when you use wire fixation and when close reduction is sufficient?
