"“The Little Mermaid” is the beloved story of Ariel, a beautiful and spirited young mermaid with a thirst for adventure. The youngest of King Triton’s daughters and the most defiant, Ariel longs to find out more about the world beyond the sea and, while visiting the surface, falls for the dashing Prince Eric. While mermaids are forbidden to interact with humans, Ariel must follow her heart. people not liking sebastion is kind of weird considering in the animated movie he's... a crab with a human head lol. I'll take the real looking crab anytime.
I always saw Sebastian as more of a crab lobster hybrid.
In the animated movie, he was referred to as a crab a few times, but according to the Disney website, official novelization, and Disney-sanctioned reference material, Sebastian is a lobster.
In the animated movie imo, he has features that resemble both, so it would have been cool if they found a way to meet in the middle for the live action remake because he does look a bit off.
You nailed it completely. That’s what it is a humanish like head. So a creature like that wouldn’t actually exist in live action so he is actually going to be a real crab. Just need a little time to get used to it.

@@patricktyler4712 | The new live action Pinocchio movie says otherwise. Instead of making characters like Jiminy Cricket a real life looking cricket, they decided to make him look like a more realised version of his animated counterpart, and that worked out fine.

Melissa McCarthy as Ursula is 👌
Her hair isn't CGI out of the water, its a wig. The CGI is still not finished, Rob Marshall confirmed it will be done by the end of March. I suspect however, that it will be still worked on up until its release.
At 1:45 her hair is still CGI, that’s the only shot I mentioned. I assume cause of the water.
@@Omn1Media It moves like CGI, but that is a wig I'm sure of it. They only have CGI hair when its underwater, why would you need to CGI it on the surface? The water is coming into contact with her hair, but its still not digital, thats real. I think its the way she moves. The hair moves on her shoulder as she turns, so it does move in a CGI way. I get what you mean, but I still think its real. Then again I could be wrong. Its hard to tell what is real and what isnt these days!
It's not a wig it's her natural locs with extensions added

I don’t know man, I didn’t think it moved realistically and the contact with the water looks fake to me as well as it doesn’t completely match the comp of that scene 🤷♂️ Also she’s not on the surface, she’s still partially in the water, we don’t know that the water in that shot is real :o it’s it’s digital then they would need to CGI the hair for the collision simulations to work right. it’s just a minor observation anyway, it’s not a big deal! If it’s real, great but it looked like digital hair to me in that shot and still does lol
I'm fed up with remaking perfectly perfect animated Dis movies into live action. Having said that, I saw this tonight was surprised I want to see this.😄

If they keep making them like this: Keeping the main elements of the original like they did in the Lion King, Aladdin, and Beauty and the Beast, and Lady and the Tramp, than they can keep making as much as they want. Because in my personal opinion, THIS is how you do a live action. Maintaining the same key elements of the original that still make it identifiable as the classic we all know and love, while also adding a few new minor side details. The one thing about this that I don’t agree with is making Scuttle a girl (no offense to Awkafina,who was a amazing as Sisu)
Cinderella was meh. They didn’t have the iconic song “bibbity bobbity boo” song (probably spelled that wrong) and Lucifer wasn’t even Lucifer. He wasn’t chasing the mice or constantly trying to sabotage Cinderella’s work. You know, being the Lucifer that we all know. There was no Bruno. And instead of having the mice struggle to get the key to unlock the room Cinderella was in, they just had the grand Duke hear Cinderella singing upstairs. Mulan was even worse. They didn’t retain anything from the original. At least Lucifer made an appearance, Mushu was nowhere to be seen, and he’s more of an iconic character than Lucifer is. There was no Lee Shang or those three main other soldiers we see in most of the original movie. It didn’t even feel like Mulan anymore. I know this is a very unpopular opinion about live action remakes. Most people want them to stop making them altogether, but I don’t mind them making them as long as they do it right
I think it'll be more interesting if mermaids are vfx into Shape of Water kinds and the witch screw her by turning her into black.
I think being tired of remakes is a perfectly acceptable critique. I am too .
Just hate when people talking about her race .

Looking forward to this version. I do have to say that seeing Sebastian was jarring. I hope they made him expressive.

Halle Bailey’s singing voice was the standout, and saving grace of this trailer. She sounds incredible and exactly as a mermaid should. My main criticisms are the poor lighting and shoddy CGI, especially for the talking animals. Sebastian is terrifying looking. The shipwreck looks well staged, but with mainly of the nighttime scenes, just is too dark.
Prince Eric is played by Jonah Hauer-King. He is a British up-and-coming actor, who has done quite a few projects for the BBC/PBS.
lmao "terrifying" - I don't find him scary AT ALL. It's so funny seeing ppl call him scary and the scared reactions
I want it to be true to the animated classic, but at the same time, add some style, update, I guess what I’m saying is I don’t want them to adapt it scene from scene from the animated movie to live action. It’s a difficult balance. I hope they can pull it off staying true to the classic will bring us something new that works to the live action.
They’re not going to do it 100% scene-from-scene.. they look to add the more important parts, like Kiss The Girl, but the moral is from the original novel.. so that is going to be very interesting..
It looks good to me, everybody looks great all the cast that I’ve seen so far. Sebastian looks a little funny but I know they’re going with a real animals so it’s fine.

OH MY GOD THANK YOU. I've been saying this for awhile. Photorealistic fish singing songs and playing musical instruments just won't be the same in live action, and it NEVER was going to work.

Sebastian is based off a ghost crab and skuttle is a Gannets because they are “diving bird”. I think the adaptation is so funny lol

Halle's hair out of the water is her real hair lol even the director confirmed it like 3 or 4 years ago that some shots they make above the water is her real hair and real practical tails also but the shots they do under the water is all CGI

I went back and checked it, but I still am not seeing the CGI hair that you are seeing, but I am not even close to an expert on that. I do know that the hair is what Halle's hair looks like most of the time in real life though......

I'll be honest, I was skeptical of Melissa as Ursula, but she's probably going to steal the entire movie
As soon as I heard she was being cast to play Ursula, I already knew she was going to steal it. It seems like one of those rare roles that is absolutely perfect for her.
In some parts it looks dark
It looks really dark, just like Neverland in the new Peter Pan trailer.

I would have preferred if they made Sebastian a crab lobster hybrid like he was in the animated movie.
A greyish blue Ursula would've been nice, too, but I guess the budget wasn't big enough to afford the necessary makeup.
That would look weird imo. The realistic look is a little hard to get used to but then again it's a live action.

Yeah he’s a ghost crab and they look like animated crabs in real life, they have black eyes like that and are very cute and fast

I shall probably watch this, maybe… however I had the unfortunate experience of being forced … wrong word, enduring (and surviving) the original cartoon soooo many times. My younger cousin would watch it over and over and I was forced to by having to go to their house after school for some reason around the time when the home video version came out… so, while I’ll probably watch this because I want to see how they translate the film from cartoon live action… I don’t think I’ll be doing it for the story itself, even if I know it by heart and can sing all the songs… it’s like I’ve seen it so many times it’s got me with some kind of Stockholm syndrome or something, okay, maybe that’s a bit much… still. I was very happy when my cousin’s VHS copy finally was eaten back in the day… but i was a younger less mature person, but it was a glorious day.
Sebastian looks so weird and I hate it. We know it’s live action but oof so bad. Everything else looked pretty good and if the music is just as good as the animated movie then that will get it a lot of points for me.

In all honesty I didn’t like the lion king live action film they should have left it animated lol but I’ll give the little mermaid a go and see here’s hoping it’s waaaaay better…

I'm done with the live action remakes I'm sticking to the classic animation movies plus i want new stories not ones we already have... but hope other peeps like it if they wanna see it !!!
This is probably a pass for me. The singing was good, but nothing about this made me excited. This movie was my absolute favorite from child hood, and something about this trailer was just a big meh. I’ll watch it on Disney plus
