My first Afghan Hound , a Black and Tan girl, lived to be nearly 17. My current Affie girl is a near white cream, and she is the love of our lives! Loyal, fun, active and playful, I wouldn't trade her for any other dog in the world. Afghan Hounds rock!
Absolutely gorgeous dogs! I’m considering getting an Afghan Hound. Fell in love the first time I saw one on the movie Titanic. Lol A brief scene at the beginning when everyone is boarding the ship. A lady had one on a leash boarding the Titanic. Stunning breed! Very fortunate for me is there’s a breeder in my city Reno, Nevada too! I take that as a very good sign for to get one as my next doggy. 😊
Get one! I'm picking up my first Afghan Hound puppy this month! 🥰 There is also an adult male available that is stunning. He's on the AKC website that lists all Afghan Hound breeders.
I had two in the 70's, a Black and Tan male and a silver brindle female. Both out of European champions, those dogs would stop traffic when out walking...
Smartest keen and not barkers. Yes agree about the free spirits that take off like bird. Had a blond and our area has goatheads and foxtails that constantly get in toes. Best friendly dog just regal and a star with strangers who can't resist. Miss Heja always.
I've read online that the natural saddle comes from not spaying and neutering is this true if not forgive my ignorance I'm very interested in the breed and just wish to know more
Afghan hounds where breed to keep the farmers and villagers safe from wolves, cougars, and most of all bears, that is why when you look at an afghan hounds hips they are more boxed in, so it could help them move around more easily in the mountainous terrain, this in vice-versa makes them more of hunting dog than anything, I would recommend you or any other trainer to teach them at an early age when they are still puppies, and help them feed their hunting instincts, if you can do that then they are a much splendid creature to have around.
I guess im asking the wrong place but does anyone know of a way to get back into an instagram account..? I was dumb forgot my password. I love any tricks you can offer me.
@Amos Santiago i really appreciate your reply. I got to the site through google and Im trying it out atm. Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will get back to you later with my results.
Because some dude who has shits for brains told you, ay?! SMFH. I hope you don't have a dog and if you do, then I hope there's somebody else involved in taking care of it.
Got my first Afghan Hound in 1981 and trained her to a CD level in six weeks. My obedience instructor (also an AKC obedience judge) told me Afghans are very smart but also stubborn. He taught me that different dogs require different tactics. My second obedience trainer, Carol Benjiman (Author and one time obedience columnist for the AKC GAZETTE), was fond of pointing out that there are no dumb dogs/breeds only people unaware of how that particular animal thinks. Don't blame the dog, blame the handler.
My first dog was an Afghan hound. Nothing compares to them when that is all you have ever known!

Ya Carlos flores did you know they are the dumbest dog breed
Dragon eye they are not dumb they just follow their instincts more than human obedience they are very intelligent when it comes to hunting their prey
@@dragoneye6498 just because they aren’t high in intelligence doesn’t make them dumb, they just aren’t as obedient aswell.
Afghan Hounds so adorable sweet & beautiful ☺️
I just described them just as you did to a friend. How funny. I had 2 in the late 80's. Show girls.

@@CrespinMinPin so much controversial information about the care for an afghan's coat online.
More specifically about their face and saddle.
I think you need a good vacuum too
Love it!
