My video makes it look like you can get pretty close to the animals, but the fact is that most of them are kept at quite a distance -- and there are almost always fences. My camera has an excellent zoom, and that's what let me get good close-ups. Still, this is a fine display area at the National Zoo.

The footage was spectacular - you provided beautiful views of the exhibits, and great shots of the featured animals as well! Thank you for giving us a brief, but informative, tour of the exhibit. August 2022 UPDATE: Crystal (the female white wolf) and Coby (the male gray wolf) were humanely euthanized in 2019 and 2020. A maned wolf now lives in their enclosure. The former maned wolf enclosure at the Cheetah Conservation Center is now home to an ostrich. P.S. The Bird House closed in January 2017 for a major refurbishment and as of August 2022, it is still closed and is scheduled to reopen in 2023.
That was the opening weekend. I don't know if you've been back since, but there have been some changes to the exhibit. In particular, the wolves are now behind a big glass window that is much less visitor friendly than the way I show it in this video. But I guess it keeps idiots from jumping into the enclosure. :-( There are a few other changes, as well. Thanks for the comment!

Animals on display come and go, so there may have been another eagle but it was not on display at that moment.

Yeah, those are two good looking wolves. When I was at the zoo, the volunteer at the wolf exhibit said these two were both females.

Was the white one really a Gray, or an Arctic?
The sign at the enclosure said "gray wolf," so that's what I put in the video. If I saw either of these two in the woods, I'd figure they were dogs.
