I've had my SK out since Christmas of 2021 and the battery is still at 80% so I'm very pleased with that. My only complaint is the daylight videos play back with a weird pulsing grainy deal going on. Other than that, it works well.
I have a new xb that won't connect to Verizon while sitting on my porch and it shuts off when I switch it from set up to on. Not overly thrilled with it right now
Go on Facebook and post on the Tactacam Reveal Tips and Tricks page. Customer service will contact you and look into your account. I will say Verizon has been having issues lately on their end so that might be the issue. Also check and make sure the brass part the antenna screws into isn’t broken
I have three of these bought four more that's how much I like and am enjoying this camera. And the no glow is great. Isn't bothering deer like the gen and x with the red glow which will make great for older more mature buck.
I ran a 2nd camera on a good plot and could see the flash from the reveal X. It didn’t seem to bother any deer on the videos. But I guess a mature buck might be easily spooked 🤷🏼♂️
Would this camera be useful as a home or property security device? I guess the real question is how long is the delay between the image being taken and then arriving on your phone?
Yes I know lots of people that use them for that. I have one set up like that too. I think the delay depends on how good your signal is. I would guess around 30 sec from camera to the app.
I work on the road and stay away from home all the time so I use these outside my house and inside. Pictures come in under a minute and no more pictures than they take the batteries last a very long time. Use good batteries though 👍

I’ve ran my sk for 1 month in the woods and field edge. Dual antennas are useless. Solar panel is entirely too small as is the included lipo battery. 400’pics in now and 6 video requests put it at 50% battery. 80% of the time I run pic mode instead of pic and video. Would recommend someone spending shy of 200$ to get the XB model with either the larger Tactacam solar panel and battery or one from herd360. Btw my panel gets about 2.5-3 hrs of direct sunlight per day. Great cam other than these things. Videos are great and trigger speed is great. The included tilt mounts really made this cam a great buy. Like you said, I wish the x model came with it as well.
The solar panel is the wild card. Mine is doing pretty good so far, but that’s the only negative I’m seeing so far from other people. The XB might be the better choice with an external larger solar panel.
@@jb1.. yup. Mine died yesterday with 400 pics. Brought along my usb c connector and charged from 9am to 4pm. Took the battery back and plugged it in. I ordered a back up battery tray since the battery life sucks so bad on these. Will be filling that with lithium’s.
@@JayN4GO I put mine out yesterday on bait pile, I got about just under 500 pics and battery is on 80%, the part that worries me is it has sat all day in moderate sun on a pipeline and hasn't charged up any, still on 80% which is where it was at daylight, as of right now I am disappointed, Main Reason I bought it was to keep from going out and changing batteries, this could be worse, because it you will have to go retrieve it, then bring it home, charge it and then take it back out!

I just purchased another tray and put alkaline in it until I can get a herd360 battery and solar. Wish I’d purchased the xb model. I’m probably getting 80 pics per night btw. Lithium’s are stuck in some harbor somewhere.

Turn video off and let it just do pics. I’ve ran a Gen 1 reveal where it takes pics and vid’s. The batteries didn’t last but a few weeks and it wasn’t even transmitting the videos cellular. It all depends on the number of pics/vids it’s taking. If it’s at night that’s gonna zap the battery even more.
Got the SK. The solar panel is way too small to keep battery charged up. Buy the XB and add a larger solar panel or run a 12-volt external battery. Other than that camera works very well.
Ur prob right. But this camera and the attached solar panel is great for throwing on scrapes or travel routes where u won’t get a ton of pics and it will prob move multiple times per season. That’s my plan with the sk. I don’t know if an XB with an external 12v and solar panel can keep up overlooking a feed sight. I think the battery still might go dead in a week. 🤷🏼♂️
@TripleRwoods Outdoors Nice review, I'm researching cameras to use for our wild hog trap and am narrowing down options. Real time video would be a must. For the weak battery/solar panel concern on this model; could you not use a battery tray instead? I think that's a separate buy. It would be nice to have the ability to use all three in tandem but the camera would be bulky ;)
I agree with Bill Anderson but I would by the SK anyway to get a little bit of solar assistance. The HME 12v battery/solar box that is shown in the video has a different size port where it plugs into the camera. There might be a cross over adaptor available. If not, you'll have to buy a Tactacam panel.
Our other tacatams with Duracell AA's out last the SK by quite a bit! If I turn off daytime pics, and let it sit in sun for 1 day the battery percent will only go up10%.
hate how far it sticks out from the tree - makes very easy for animals to mess with it more than if against the tree -- and the fact that the tree mount is plastic...still lots to improve upon - which is how they get you to "upgrade" -- I run several of the Reveal X and will get some SK's -- but as I said, still much to improve on with the "hardware"
I’ve had bears rip cams off trees that were synched up tight…. If they want it off the tree it’s coming off. I’ve never really had any other animals mess with cams
I have been using the slate river screw in mounts for years with all my cameras. They are awesome. Camera can be aimed perfectly and mounted on anything from a large vine to a massive oak tree. I custom Camo all of my mounts and reveal cameras and without the strap, they are practically invisible to humans. I have gotten pictures of other hunters in my club and they never had a clue their picture had been taken. And of course, it’s equally effective on animals.
The 64 gig SD card size is fine. I have them in both on my cameras. The issue I had was the card was formated with exfat. Needs to be formated Fat32 to work. I downloaded a program called AOMEI and reformated. Possibly same issue with your 64 SD card I do have a question when you go into you app can you change Video format (720 1080) and record time?

Are the dual antennas meant to give it a better reception in low signal areas? My spot has crappy signal, but I do have a wifi signal with my satellite internet. I have a small campground and would like it not only for wildlife in the fall but also security when I am not there. ATT on my phone is crap, but with the big antennas, I wonder if it could pull in enough to work?
From what I have read the dual antennas is an FAA or some federal department requires it for dual modems. 🤷🏼♂️. I don’t think it helps signal any. But you will get 2 SIM cards so you can pick the carrier with better signal
App works great. Occasionally servers will go down but it happens with my Moultrie mobile too. It’s not really in there control. I always question reviews. The normal person with no issues rarely every leaves a review. It’s always the person mad about something. Just my opinion.
I think in the instructions it says to use a 32 gb. However my Gen 1 cams use 64. Some people claim they work fine with a 64. Maybe I had a bad card. 🤷🏼♂️.

I just put up the same model. Is it just me or does the camera take one photo and time out for a minute or two then it takes another photo? And there is no way in the app to adjust how many pictures to take or to adjust the interval between pictures. Also no burst mode?
In burst mode camera will only send the 2nd pic, the rest of the burst pics go to SD card. If camerais set on Timely or instant t there is a 1 or 2 min delay in between pics being sent because it's trying to send photo instantly after taking the pic, and cannot take pics and send at the same time.
Only difference I've noticed is the X allows you to adjust video/video length whereas the SK does not and maxes out at 10 seconds, that's the downside for me

I just bought a X and set it up today, that is a great deal i'll be buying one of those next. You really get a lot more for fifty bucks

What happens if the battery goes dead on this SK ? Do you have to bring home and charge it up or what?

Does this run off your existing cell plan or do you have to purchase a separate plan for the camera?
You create an account through the Tactacam app. And you pay Tactacam $12 a month.
Hey if I wanted to do a live view can I Go on the app and look at what’s going on, is that possible?

Nice video. I've got two I need to get set up. I like my Reveal Gen1 and Reveal X's. I'm sure I'll be pleased with the SK as well.

I’ve got a video I’m gonna put out where I put the small solar panel on the X model and the bigger Tactacam panel on the sk. Works perfect.

I got around 600 pic/video before the lithium battery went dead. I’m going to do a full end of season review here in a few weeks. Stay turned.

Can more than one user receive the pictures to different phones?
Yes they just both have to download the app and log into the app on each phone
To be honest I have Reveal x and best camera I have takes great pictures day and night and service i have with AT&T works great!

What is your experience with the APP. The review on Android or horrible. Just bought this camera today and have not been able to set up.

A feature that the XB does not list but the SK does is “Photo Burst”. Does the SK actually send every pic from a burst or just 1 photo like the X?
I think it only sends 1. I rarely ever use burst. Especially if you can get a video.

32 gig U3 class 10. Any of the name brands sandisk is a good one.

There is a delay for the camera to send the pic. You can change it to send 1 or 2 times per day and you get more pictures cus the delay isn’t there.
