what ive noticed is that not many people realize how sad the story of got and hotd is, thousands of years of legacy being destroyed, but you captured that perfectly
I think you might have missed the point of the story. It's not sad because it's about the destruction of a legacy, it's sad because how much people relied on these values that eventually lead them to suffering and destruction. The GoT show is very shallow but ASoIaF (the books) makes this rather clear, with the visions and prophecies and arbitrary rights to rule, that all these people in power regard as sacred.
@@australopithecus_lucis i think maybe your right, but i tend to hyper fixate and obsess over fictional things as if they were real, and then it makes me sad when i think of events such as destruction of valyria :(

It's a cautionary tale, similar to Atlantis; the power hungry lords of Valyria destroyed themselves through ambition, simply put, although it isn't fully clear how the Doom played out. Being sad about its fall is like being sad about the destruction of the Empire in Star Wars or the defeat of the Third Reich

I always saw that the destruction of houses was just and almost always caused by the very members that value it putting themselves above others as if they are. The idea they can fall so quickly even when they’ve literally conquered the world and are on top of all others shows that nobody is truly above the others fate. Everyone has their time and end no matter the blood ties
The part at the end where Rhaenyra recited the prophecy and it cut to Jon and then Arya gave me hella goose bumps good shit this perfectly captures their world
