Huawei P40 vs P40 Pro | Should I upgrade to the Pro?

- Comparing the new Huawei P40 Pro flagship smartphone vs the standard P40, to see whether that Pro version is worth the extra cash. We take a closer hands-on look at Huawei's hardware, including the camera tech, displays, performance, battery and other specs, to fully compare these mobiles.
I've already done a full unboxing tour of the P40 Pro and its smaller sibling here on Tech Spurt, while my tips and tricks guide will dive into EMUI 10.1 and the apps situation.
I love the compact design of the regular Huawei P40, which will also boast a more affordable price. However, the Pro model does upgrade the camera tech to a new quad-lens setup. It's the same primary UltraVision lens, but the wide-angle and telephoto shooters have been boosted and you also get a Time of Flight sensor.
Likewise, because the P40 Pro is bigger, you get a larger battery stuffed inside. And this beast supports 40W wired or wireless charging, unlike the standard smartphone. There's also full IP68 water and dust resistance, plus a 90Hz display.

I got P40 Pro for christmas and so happy with it.I think i will use this phone for 4-5 years.In my whole life i used mid range phones P8 Lite P20 Lite and i used them for 2-3 years,so P40 Pro is like Lamborgini for me
Bro, it's gonna be my birthday soon, sadly P40 Pro is quite expensive even though I want it, but I've been saving a lot, and will sell some old stuff like my ps3 that I never use anymore, and hopefully I can buy this phone on discount:)

I would like to say that I love how you present the phones. Displays are a huge thing for me and you changing the wallpaper and focusing on them for more than 3 seconds, unlike most vids, showcases them in a way that satisfies me. Thanks for the great and informative video, i see you have quite a few of the popular apps installed on the phones including Google Chrome, what is the situation in regards to the Play Store and downloading apps etc???
Since Huawei is now building his own Ecosystem they won't have the Google Play Store anymore but you can still download all your needed apps in the Huawei "AppGallery" if not there are so many other ways to download the apps without Google Play Store! You actually don't need any Google Services anymore since Huawei already working on his own Maps, HiCar (AndroidAuto), AppStore and so much more. Excited to see their growth
I would go for the p40 pro but I'm curious about the plus when it comes out would you do a side by side on the pro and pro +

As a person who appreciates the compact form factor and also possesses a P30, I concur with your preference toward the standard P40.
2 minor setbacks, though, are that it does not offer the higher refresh rate and does not have Google Play.
Does p40's ultrawide camera have a big differnce with the p40 pro's ultrawide in terms of image quality? What about low light?
Make a comparative video and between P30 Pro and P40 Pro - does it make much sense to replace an old model with a new one?

I like both phones, they both seem like twins that are not identical, with one just growing a little more than its twin... just I wouldn't pay extra just for a little bit of a better mobile when the Huawei P40 is able to do everything that the Huawei P40 pro can do except the little things you pointed out... I want this mobile as my next mobile, just where anyone can save money I think they would do.

Huawei gone for a bespoke standard NM media card - how would one read this on a laptop? Laptops read microSD via the SD adaptor which works fine or SD for cameras - both pretty common.

The main reason to choose the vanilla version over the Pro version (for me at least) used to be the headphone jack, but now there's no reason NOT to upgrade.
Now there is only a price
all the phones are moving away from the headphone jack. its the new norm and that is why I moved to bluetooth headphones.

Also, wired headphones don't need to be recharged and there's no latency when watching videos or playing games. Besides, you can still use your bloody bt headphones if you want to, but there's no reason to remove the jack!

Where I can Buy-in India.
I chose the p30 over the p30 pro because of headphone jack. Now there is no reason to do the upgrade. I understand Bluetooth headphone is the new trend now but why should i pay more if the cheaper version can do both types connection?

Just enable your moving picture on your left camera. And take the picture and go to edit settings you will find remove passerby. Im also p40 user
