This is fantastic... Fyi... Mayer inducted SRV into the Rock and roll hall of fame, will eulogize Clapton, was invited by Billy Joel to play at his last play at Shea (along with Sir Paul McCartney), and had a band with Buddy Guy.... If you have an issue... that is a YOU thing. John IS Dead.
Being able to re-interpret songs that were done differently while as part of a band from decades ago is a great way into the artist's mind. Bobby's interesting chord progressions and intonation is why at age 17 he was a vital part of a progressive band that shaped the times for years to come. Not you, not me.. Bobby. Rock on. If you can't wrap your head around it, that's okay. Come on back when you are ready.
John does an awesome job and I like when he puts himself in there along with Jerry feels. I've been playing for 35 years and met Bob in a hotel hallway where he played my junk acoustic. I got my own feel with Jerry in there but for John to get all these licks down and remember them is amazing.
I've heard a lot of Scarlett fires and I have to say that that was the best solo I've ever heard John play during fire. it was absolutely perfect with Oteil. that was probably the best version of scarlet fire that I've ever heard this band play I could be wrong but if you feel me let me know. Lol.
I feel you! Mayer and Chimenti get better with each show. They are what makes Dead and Co rock, not Bob, Bill and Mickey. The complainers don't want to accept that. Mayer always delivers a great Scarlet-Fire and plays the solos longer than Jerry did.

Absolutely loved this show... Danced all night out on the lawn! Just wish the volume on John Mayer was a bit higher. While he's not Jerry, he's still an incredible player that deserves the spotlight in this band, especially during solos.
I got great seats up front for this last min. Missed Shakedown & Alabama Getaway due to security being extremely slow but, it was fantastic from It's All Over Now till we left right at the end of Stella Blue. We heard Touch of Grey from the car leaving. I saw them also at Fenway Park June 17th of 2017. It was a couple fun shows! Scarlet thru Drums/space was really sick... We were in the center section up front right behind the pit.
For those who've paid attention to this band from the start will know this night was merely a soundcheck as they don't hit their stride till at least the 5th-8th shows of the tour...looking forward to seeing them in 3 weeks!
Stepping into Jerry’s shoes, so to speak, is no easy feat, such that, watching as Bobby pulls Mayer out from under his signature B-road venturing during “Stella Blue” showed just how hard Mayer’s role actually is. In other words, all I can say is: ‘John Mayer, you’ve got balls.’ PS: Thanks so much for posting.
Really digging drum/space with Dead and Co. I never didnt like it but this stuff is somehow......more immersive? Beats me, just been "appreciating" it like i didnt when i was younger. :)
I have to agree with u on that because I didn’t like the drummers of old but they r so much better ! I think having them young genius,s with Bobby & drums make them feel younger also !
blonzo woww. I didn't know am a septuagenarian. Probably that's why I like this laid back aura about it. Not like the current slogan that you have to attack the song. Thank you for bring this new word in my vocabulary.
For those of you that are negative you are obviously free to express yourself but if all you have is negative comments perhaps this scene isn’t for you. ReListen App will let you relive the good ole days with Jerry! I think the boys sound great and it’s exciting to watch Bobby work out new ways of playing these songs, Bobby and Jeff are a 4 armed monster.
The first time I heard No Such Thing, I knew whoever made it was going to be a star. I didn't even know his name. Not a huge fan of John outside Dead &Co., but it was fresh and a great summer song. The man can play guitar. He's not Jerry. He just respects him. Sounds good.

Whether you like Dead and Co or not, you should be happy that they’re keeping the spirit alive. Some Heads still follow the band around. There’s still a Shakedown Street. There’s still a sense of community and a “vibe” throughout the air/music. And Dead and Co have only been going on for a few years. Just wait a few more years and they will be improving and injecting life to the Dead. Plus, the Dead ALWAYS evolved. If the original Grateful Dead kept touring into 2018, they could have turned into what Dead and Co is/will be. Finally, at least they still have most of the original members.
Sorry a noob when it comes to the Greatful Dead. Really loved them when they played Band Together for the fire relief here in SF. The songs I really like are Shakedown Street super funky, Terrapin Station super long and awesome, Althea, and touch of Grey... Many more I can't name. Any tracks that would you really recommend. Many wished I really got to them earlier.
Mayer's playing gets better by the month. His solos on All Over Now and Brown Eyed Women were beautiful. The arrangement of All Over Now was totally different than the Dead's with a funky beat instead of Jerry's bluegrass feel. It's the band making the songs their own that makes Dead and Co so good with Mayer and Chimenti leading the way. If they could just figure out how to sound good singing Jerry's songs.
Jonny had his cool Nike sweats on last night I gotta get some of those. John Mayer is the Man thank god for him or I wouldnt be going to Alpine and Boulder cant wait ...
I agree wholeheartedly. Especially the All Over Now. They really are making these songs their own while full respecting the original versions. I noticed the same thing. Thanks for speaking it out loud!

Yeah! Thoroughly Enjoyed #THIStm! Its always nice to Groove Again to the smoo-vibe's!
That was just excellent!!
Bobby my dear friend , did very well on this band ! 🤣😂😅🤩😍🥳
John does an awesome job and I like when he puts himself in there along with Jerry feels. I've been playing for 35 years and met Bob in a hotel hallway where he played my junk acoustic. I got my own feel with Jerry in there but for John to get all these licks down and remember them is amazing.
70s dead was real nice and slow some of the best music they ever made slow and loose
The greatest 70s Dead clip on UA-cam and it's nice and slooooowwwww ua-cam.com/video/r7LrdKDDbYc/v-deo.html
Chimenti and Otiel on Eyes imo were the highlight of this show.
Smokin' hot! Thanks for sharing.
For the first time - for Dead and Company (with Mayer) - "Alabama Getaway" at 44:47
bob looks and sounds like he is on a mission. Never lose that magic Bobby...
the loose lucy > birdsong transition was the highlight of the 1st set.
Love Otiel's Fire On The Mountain.
I put on D&C during my hour break at work. Put my earbuds in & sunglasses on and fall asleep 10 mins in.
I was at this show and always come back for that 2nd set.
I really enjoyed the first set of this show after giving it a second listen.
The Scarlet-Fire was fucking beautiful! Glad to have them back, they make every summer better
I was there. They just get better and better
I wish someday I can b there backstage so I can meet the new guys !
I was at this show and it really brought a tear to my eye.
@@jleighwolfe so was I and it did the same for me. Always does. That song holds a special place in my heart.
I love this band that Bobby put together but don’t ever say a thing about Jerry ! Nobody could do what he did !
I was there, It was a great show. Thanks for posting it, Chris!

The energy there was crazy
Brown-Eyed Women piano solo! Damn that was great.
Jeff should have taken Vince Welnick's job even though he was maybe 14 at the time.
Couldnt hear it
Rich Sadowsky yeah it seems! Lucky you.
It’s cosmic baby & addictive , u can’t get enough of them ,dead& co.or greatfuldead!
Grateful Dead I mean !
Absolutely loved this show... Danced all night out on the lawn! Just wish the volume on John Mayer was a bit higher. While he's not Jerry, he's still an incredible player that deserves the spotlight in this band, especially during solos.
wanna go but due to a car accident, have guitars in pawn that need freed. Thanks bunches to Nugs, and UA-cam.
Awesome
Birdsong is magical
I got great seats up front for this last min. Missed Shakedown & Alabama Getaway due to security being extremely slow but, it was fantastic from It's All Over Now till we left right at the end of Stella Blue. We heard Touch of Grey from the car leaving. I saw them also at Fenway Park June 17th of 2017. It was a couple fun shows! Scarlet thru Drums/space was really sick... We were in the center section up front right behind the pit.
What does sick mean ? Good I hope !
Very jazzy evening of music
Was a great show!
2/3 way into the show and Althea just started. Work is much more enjoyable this morning....
Those Althea solos give me the jitters every time I listen to this show
Shakedown sounds amazing on 1.25 speed
Great set list!
Thank you SO much putting this online!!!!!!
For those who've paid attention to this band from the start will know this night was merely a soundcheck as they don't hit their stride till at least the 5th-8th shows of the tour...looking forward to seeing them in 3 weeks!
Cristian Plummer Haha I agree, but I felt this show had some very creative moments! Looking forward to seeing them out west!
Now last night #2 was more like it 👍
To me it doesn’t matter because the dead r still alive !,!! ❤️🌹☮️🥳😵💫😱🥰💀🫶🏼✌️🪐👻
love Oteil's new strap! fancy! :)
love those bare feet...Oteil is such a mellow hippy...and right at home with Dead & Co.
Sounds Great!
Making Dead songs Great Again!!!
Amazing job at showing wrespect
Thank you Nugs. You made my day. And you are about to make my year with your couch tour
Great show was there..✌️✌️🤙🤙
Really digging drum/space with Dead and Co. I never didnt like it but this stuff is somehow......more immersive? Beats me, just been "appreciating" it like i didnt when i was younger. :)
In the old days you'd often get this screeching feedback sound during the space jams. I like 'em better these days, too!
I have to agree with u on that because I didn’t like the drummers of old but they r so much better ! I think having them young genius,s with Bobby & drums make them feel younger also !
Initiation 24.50. start 26.15
plus ginormous breaks (understandable for septuagenarians. Come to think of it no different from 1976!)
blonzo woww. I didn't know am a septuagenarian. Probably that's why I like this laid back aura about it. Not like the current slogan that you have to attack the song.
Thank you for bring this new word in my vocabulary.
I love The Grateful Dead , I have seen them over 60 times in the 80's and 90's -have to admit it , they sound tired !! lol but still amazing !!
I'm glad they still love to play !
Me too Mappy thank u ! ❤️❤️🌹🌹☮️✌️🫶🏼❤️🔥💥☄️🪐👽👻🥳
I enjoyed that
For those of you that are negative you are obviously free to express yourself but if all you have is negative comments perhaps this scene isn’t for you.

Fucking wow , incredible . Bobby blew me away with shakedown street , his energy was amazing. See you guys at autzen , peace.
Yes I agree with u the varietyBros.
TY for the Upload! I love You'z 4 it!!!!!!!!!
Weather Report Suite, Morning Dew, Doin That Rag, Golden Road to Unlimited Devotion. And the list goes on n on. Enjoy my brother.
Ralph
lee zarnke 🤣
36 Gemini
I liked Jerry the best in his red t-shirt. That was a great era of the Dead. No pace complaints then.
It actually does sound really good at 1.25 speed... especially the shakedown.
agreed
I think ol johnny is dosed hahaha ,thank you for a real good time !
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE COME TO PHX THIS SPRING
