I find it interesting how motifs from “The King” and “Animation Vs. Math” are commonly used during the Lucky Block tower segment, likely because the “villain” is the King’s staff with the sentient lucky block orb, and that lucky blocks have to do with probability, a math subject
I’ve been listening to the soundtrack of “The King” non stop, so to hear the few notes of Herobrine’s theme come in at 7:08 when Red’s staff changes to his head gave me literal CHILLS. The animations are of course phenomenal, but the music has always stood out to me and adds SO MUCH! I love all the callbacks just in the music alone, and it’s honestly so incredible how much thought was put into this. Amazing job to you, Scott, your musical ability and the way you can capture emotions so well is remarkable!! 👏 👏 👏
I loved the animation of Alan and his team, so many details, so many references to past episodes, such as Yellow using the barrier block staff, or Blue using the Potion Block to create effects, or references during the battle to the beginning of the episode when TSC used the block Bedrock in the very first seconds of the video, and then used it again when he needed to protect Ghast, when Green used the Note Block because he loves music, or when Red used the player's head, which he received at the beginning of the video, which later became Herobrine's head and gave him abilities, and this is directly related to him, since Herobrine has already inhabited him 2 times. I also liked the detail of the tower that increased when Lucky Orb returned with his staff to the center of the tower, I liked those moving wave-like pixels from REAL MINECRAFT BLOCKS. It's undoubtedly a lot of work, but what the episode couldn't have done without was Scott's music. Scott and Alan are the best duo in UA-cam animation because you see the tone of the music go from very fun and classic at the beginning to very epic and powerful in the middle and end during the fight. Also, the opponents themselves resemble bosses, each time they are more and more difficult, and thanks to the music you feel that you are not watching an animation, but going through a game. Great job, Scott!
Can I just say I love how seamlessly your music changes to fit the mood? For instance from 12:50 onward, the music went perfectly from "Hooray the bad guy is defeated!" to "Oh wait, we still gotta get out of here"
Am I the only one who noticed the slight reference to the chosen one’s theme from „wanted” at 5:30 ? It’s funny as it is the fragment where yellow used the campfire staff to fly using the same method as TCO
I've listened to this a hundred times trying to hear it but I just don't. I assume if the Chosen One has a motif it's [E B A~ / G-F#-G~], right? I do not hear it here.
@@i-am-linja yeah, and also as I look back it kinda sounded like the part with the TSC-agents fight in wanted but I don’t really know what part exactly. It just sounds familiar
@@piolewus Do you perhaps mean the repeating [E C B G] in the background? Because I do remember a descending four note sequence in the bass at the beginning of _Wanted,_ but I think I compared them before and they're not the same. Even if they were, this is unlikely to be a reference as it plays throughout the entire tower sequence; I think it's the Lucky Idol's theme more than anything.
Yes!!!!! Such an amazing score!!! The motifs, intensity... I'm just gushing over this score so hard haha. You and the team did such an excellent job with this episode. What a good episode and score to close off the year. Well done to you and the team!!!!!

Funky Experiments is such a fun piece! It feels like a working out montage (e: now that I think of it, a marching band!), which is perfect. I love the percussion :D The Lucky Block part: As constant and undulating as the ground of the lucky block realm itself, as relentless and driving as the neverending enemies of the tower, and yet as varied and unique as the different enemies the heroes encounter. And I can hear the orchestra gradually come through, as so many of your other pieces do. And the percussion!!
I knew I’d love the score in this episode, you never cease to amaze and inspire me! Also I got incredibly excited when I heard Herobrine’s theme (7:08) play when watching the episode. I recognised it immediately thanks to listening to The King on repeat (especially Herobrine’s part). I love it when scores use themes.
