I'm thinking "angry girlfriend + bass + stairs = GOOCHED."
He probably "cheated" or she dreamed he did.
BuzzcutGtr for sure 😂😂😂
Angry girlfriends are guitar destroyers
not possible.
bass players don't have girlfriends.
@@Cole-ek7fh No, we have wives...
As someone who actively plays new and old cassette tapes:
My advice for a cassette tape that's not been played in a very long time - fast forward and rewind both sides before playing. You'll want to loosen up the spools before having them drag across the play head. It'll go a long way towards keeping things from getting out of whack. Cassettes are very resilient; if they are kept within a reasonable temperature range while stored the playback should be just fine.
Sometimes they bleed through if they've been sitting a while. You might wind up hearing a weird out of sync doubled track.
Guy buys a heavy relic Fender Custom Shop guitar, takes it to Dave to restore it to like new condition.
LOL that is too funny !
Love that you're occasionally helping the poor....young guitar players. We were all there at one time...
Jeez, Dave literally took a bass from the garbage bin and brought it back to life.
I'm constantly amazed at the abuse guitars receive from their oafish owners
Drives me nuts, too. You have to respect your tools in any profession.
@@smasica Even if you're not a professional
Even stickers on a guitar irritates me to no end unless it's some kind of art project. It's a guitar, not a billboard!
@@Axess-sv8nq My friend gave me a Kramer Baretta because someone had covered it in skateboard stickers and the output jack was ripped out. $ 8 for a switchcraft Jack and some Goo Gone and polish it's in excellent condition. I even offered to give it back to him.
Wow! That's awesome! That's a heck of a guitar to get 'given'! Pure EVH! :-)
You know things are going good when a big thing is changing the paper.
Nice commemoration of Dad.
I ran over my Fender Precision 5 string bass with my 3/4 Chev P/U (not on purpose). It was leaning against my truck in its gig bag, I was leaving my rehearsal space and forgot to throw it in the truck. I felt it when I backed over it, felt like a speed bump. To my surprise, not a scratch or issue with the bass.
Why would a drummer from California want to watch this dude from Toronto? Don’t know, but I do. Rock on Dave. I love Guerrilla tape too!
It's because Dave is an awesome guy
Very cool tribute to your friend. Very classy.
"This slab of heartache..." classic Dave. Love it!
Looks like it got the Paul Simonon quality assurance test.
You’re a good man Dave
It was 1981. The venue was the McIntyre arena in Timmins, ON. It was the first concert my younger brother and I were allowed to attend on our own. I was 13, he was 11. We stood in the front row, squashed against the stage. I was mesmerized, I couldn’t take my eyes off the guitar player. After their set, he bent down and handed me a guitar pick. The bass player followed right behind him. Thank you Brian McLeod and Ab Bryant. They help launch me on a lifelong passion for guitars and music. I still think there is no such thing as “too loud”. \m/, ,\m/ RIP “Too Loud McLeod” I hope yer busting ear drums up there!! :)
Chilliwack ! A name from the past. They played an all-city dance in Tacoma, WA in 1970.
Yes! Very find memories of Chilliwack in '70.
That's such a shame that someone beat the crap out of and didn't take care of this bass. I've wanted a J/J jaguar for the last decade and haven't much luck finding one...
A jag would be super! I've only been playing 2 years and treat my basses like they were made of ceramic.
Dave, you really inspire me to keep my work area clean.
"New Paper", just in time for that piece of firewood !
You WISH you had a guitar that nice. ;-)
@@Axess-sv8nq lol
Come on now, who else could say they have a road rash bass?? lol!
There was also a dedication at the end of the season 2 episode 1 of the show Titans which is what (I believe) he was filming at the time of his passing.
I love this guy! Thanks for all the great lessons!
New paper!! Way to go Dave!
really love your work sir..more power and god bless,,from your avid fan here in the philippines
Funky Slap so you’re D’avid fan in the Phillipines eh 😉😁
Cool shirt....and nice gesture for his family .
Ooh it's just gonna be fine... best words ever and that's why you are Dave.
Hey Dave, thanks for the paper. I'm looking forward to watching it age as you continue to do videos. Thanks again, your pal, Craig
Man ... I love the sound of new round wounds ... nice repair ...
f the haters; cassettes are timeless!
Very enjoyable. She looks and sounds great.
That is true "road ware."
Damn, you resurrected that thing...
Loved the Headpins. Darby's voice was raw rock'n'roll.
Rest in peace Dad. Fun video as always, I do productive stuff while listening :3 keep it up
Dr. Dave is in the house!!!
“Trussrod Roulette” ! 😂👏
I ran over the entire length of my '64 Precision bass with my truck one morning after leaving it leaning on the rear bumper after a gig the night before. The bass played so much better after that.
That must have taken one heck of a hit. Fender necks are damn near indestructible.
Nope. Only headstock crack I've had was on a Fender. It fell off it's stand
Quincy, M.E. Jack Klugman lives!
Poor thing. OUCH! You wrap your table in new paper like one wraps a Christmas package - neat, clean and tight. Slab of Heartache ~ that's a cry-in-your-beer song just waiting to be written.
Excellent work! I have that exact same bass and have gigged with it for about 12 years now. Hope whoever's that is takes care of it after all the work you put in.
Love the shirt. I was thinking, "Dude has too nice a face to be some kind of satire."
Know what Dave, i don't watch all the videos but the ones i do i always learn something and you get one of those blue like things.
We understand Dave. If you don't charge for your time, no one else value it either.
....... This Slab of Heartache .......
The BEST
Maybe the bass was used to beat back an over aggressive groupie.
not likely
Yea it’s a bass...
Groupies avoid Jag players. Too many buttons to fiddle with.
Another cool half hour of fun.
Dave, sign and date that workstation paper then auction for charity next time you change it.
Nice job Dave. That bass was really gooched up! Back in the late 80's I bought a really nice Guild Pilot bass. Couldn't wait to gig with it. We were playing at an outdoor festival on a concrete slab . I tune up my bass real good then put it in the case for safety. I picked up the case but forgot to latch it. Well, you know what happened next. Ouch! What a moron....
Great Save!
It sounded fantastic in the end!
Nice new papper Dave , :))
I'm in love with the Dave's pricing policy. Dave, you are a fucking legend, a true Gent.
Yeah trying to put strings that were on a MusicMan on a Fender... we've all been there.
Boy Dave, you sure do get some interesting specimens.
Instoneation love it cheers.Oh yea keep up the vids dave from australia.
When this bass fell out of the bottom of the tour bus doing 70mph, a loud "gooched it" was heard said by an innocent bystander
Betting is now over folks, the paper has finally been changed!
Woah woah woah! I thought you were the JANITOR of the temple of the rush song.
Tidy work space, tidy mind! That bass is in better fuckin' shape than me! Can you clamp me Dave & glue my spine back together?I love Jag basses! ;)
You had one like it on the bench in 2017. Not the same one, if I go by the neck pocket, and the sheilding.
I LOVE the rash.
lol, I thought same before you said it. Chet Clamp-it!
A bit off topic, but I was watching a Killer Dwarfs video and (I think it's Ron) has a Lado bass. Have you ever worked on a Lado and do you see them around ever any more?
I always thought they were so cool. Steve Harris and Adrian Smith had a couple back in the day.
That's what Guitar Center does to guitars before they throw them in the dumpster. They smash them on the floor. They probably found the same crack in the neck, and wrote it off as a loss.
Tele's fall off their hangers at GC!
headpins, long time no hear !
This is what happens when you get too drunk at your show and your bass goes down with you and you both get Gooched on a serious note I love the shirt by the way
I love your videos, Dave, particularly the cooking episodes. What I'd really like to see is a setup and adjustment of a strat-ish guitar with a "vintage" six-screw vibrato tailpiece that goes both ways, that is, can pull the strings sharp or slacken them flat. Screwing it down hard so that it becomes a hardtail doesn't count---even I can do that. Thanks and be well . . .
Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Glue is another good glue to use on a guitar. A glue syringe can come in handy too.
I can't believe how bent in the metal plate is where the control knobs are. What did they do try to Surf this down a flight of stairs.
They didn't just try, they were successful judging by the road rash and crack lol.
I still have tapes too. I have a stereo that can play those tapes, and also a 19 inch CRT TV/VCR combo, whereas the VCR part works flawlessly.
That not what "light in the loafers" means, Dave. :)
"Too Loud" used to drop his lady and her Jeep off with me at our garage in Van because "he trusted me" with them both. Nice guy.
I have seen people who own nice guitars totally abuse them. Makes one cry a bit.
Dave, did that CBS record manufacturer you mentioned be the one that used to be in carrollton ga.? If so, that's where I'm from and my wife worked there. She met Ozzy, Jake e. Lee, and several other big name artists at the time as the industry people would bring them in for tours and schmoozing. It was the largest, and newest facility they had at the time about 50 miles west of Atlanta.
Will we get sandwich recipes more often? I would love one of those Japanese Jags.
I’ve done that tape battery box cover thing in the past. It lasts for ages and when it does start sticking to your shirt you just stick a new piece on.
you had me Run Over By A Car
That was once, a beautiful neck.
Was hoping you'd fire up that Lasalle. I'm an old fart too and I think I've heard of 'em.
With bent metal like that, I've had pretty good luck putting it between two pieces of wood in a vise and cranking it flat. Sometimes, there's a little spring to the metal, and I have to hammer out the rest. And I've flexed a neck before using a clamp in the middle and blocks under each end.
Nice paper, Dave.
Wish I still had my CIJ Jaguar, which was not run over.
To abuse a lovely bass like that is enough to make you weep. Good job Dave.
Kinda looks like it fell out of a moving vehicle or fell off a bike while using one of the really thin backpack gigbags.
🤣🤪, reliced falling down a set of stairs
Don't we all become Master Builders at some point.
I live the Japanese Jag Basses. Wish they had made a Jazzmasyer version. People I think want them to things that they aren’t necessarily designed for. Nonetheless, they are cool and sound great.
I got a clawhammer LETS RELIC!
So there is no need to protect the fretboard with masking tape when polishing the frets with fret erasers?
I think someone’s wife threw it out the 2nd story window.
*threw!
John Harlan but I would've gone 'through' the window ☺
Shades of Jaco's Bass of Doom.
This battle axe from a player in a metal band Dave? That would actually be minor wear if so ;) BTW- I like the way the back of the machine heads/tuners look Very beefy 8:35
Great job as always, Dave! What's the next episode: "RIC 4001 Got tossed into a chipper/shredder?"
Maybe he did a stage dive and they didn't catch him before he landed on his face and his bass? You know they would have caught the singer and the guitar player!
Fixed up the old campaigner, just to be thrown out into the fray again.
that shirt! great guy; so sad!!!
Intentionevents.com is always there for Dave.
Used strings make for really weird intonation or buzzing problems sometimes, too.
Dave shows concern over a bass, very touching, if it was a chibson it could go F*** itself hahahaha, Great videos BTW. Liverpool🇬🇧
Dave is a snob? Oh dear.
Those aren't scars that's proof that it was loved and not a closet case queen.
AGD = Angry Girlfriend Defenestration
Is the T-shirt Of Dan from that Pedal Show? Amazing..
