I was kindly asked to be involved in a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity project with them and cannot say no. To possibly take on the world’s first Scania V8 engine transplant into a Volvo, FH12.
With strong, mechanical knowledge and enthusiasm and passion, for this, there was no doubt this was not going to happen. Although it still did not make the task easy.
Also featuring Porter exhausts to take on custom fabrication of the manifold system.

Well done to everyone involved in this project. And fair play to Trucker Tim for commenting and giving Murdochs the 👍. That’s quite a collection they have there and if they can continue to use the old building that will stop it from being demolished.
Many years ago in S Wales my cousin and myself shared an old railway building with an engineering company. We maintained a fleet of 4/5 trucks from 7.5 ton TKs to a F86 and F88. Some friends who were fitters would help out on big jobs and the crack we had was just incredible. On late nights it always finished with fish and chips and a couple of flagons of woodpecker. If we finished earlier it was off to the pub.
My cousin was infatuated with putting diesel engines into cars. One of the easiest was a 1.5 l diesel out of an ex post office J4 into a very nice Austin Cambridge. We put a Perkins P4 into a Ford Zephyr, but couldn’t get the servo to work for the brakes. A convertible Hillman Minx which he bought and we rebuilt the engine. Actually sold that on and made a few quid out of it. The worse one was another purchase that needed work, but we got it running and used it for a while before selling that on. This was a Rover ?? the big ones that the Prime Ministers used to have. Is it P100? That had a 4 cylinder Ricardo engine out of a Commer truck. Holy crap that thing would pull a house down and absolutely fly. Ricardo’s were good when running and were early direct injection motors but absolute pigs to start, their downfall.
That was close to 50 years ago, learnt a lot as a teenager and the atmosphere at Murdochs definitely reminds me of those great times we had. 🏴🇺🇸 Great content Sandy 👍
There was a company in Karlstad Sweden who put a 141 engine in a F12 so it’s has been done before. But it’s fun to see it in a FH 👌🏼🤗

3 days engine in and started finally seeing progress on a volvo v8 cant wait to see mor eif this and hopfully see it in person at truckfest scotland

In the eighties Solstatrafik in Karlstad sweden had an F12 in good condition but with a bad engine.
They also had a Scania 142 very rusty but with an excellent engine.
They put this together with a special made adapter between engine and gearbox.
Except for some problems with clogged fuel lines that truck run daily between Gothenburg and Karlstad for a couple of years.
The drivers callad it the perfect combination.😊

Well a Cummins engine was fitted into the Volvo FM/FH in other parts of the world so a Scany V8 sounds cool

Well let’s be honest Tims got to many projects and is fannying around. Don’t get me wrong I like his videos and have watched them all and his white scania was a great project and looks mega but he needs to finish stuff before buying more stuff.
wasent there one F12/F16 that was V8 swaped in sweden way back? think ive seen something about it on the scandinavian truck groups on Facebook.

I mean trucker tim bought fhe doner engine and truck for fitting weeks and weeks ago , oh he managed to fit the number plate somehow. Thats you of trucker tim Christmas card list now.
