    If you want to paint oil on canvas you might want to put a layer of clear gesso or acrylic mediums, that way the paint won't absorb into the paper

    I really love your high-fashion girls, I feel they make your paintings very attractive in an "adult" way. Your interview with WOWxWOW was SO eloquent, I loved to read it. It gave a more academic-quality perspective and more insight into your thoughts. You are so smart, it really shows in your work :)

    So beautiful, Lioba! I love it. You mention the need for really bright reds - I use a color of gouache by Holbein called ‘Luminous Red.’ It’s almost neon, but when layered with colored pencil or watercolor it makes a really vivid, bright red. Hope you’re having a great day! Thank you for all the lovely videos you make. 🙂💕

    This piece is Amazing! One of my favorites! [And, no offense to the other artists, but yours was Definitely the best piece in the entire show !! I looked for inspiration!] And thanks for the tip about taking our own flower pictures!! Frog Prince is such a great theme~

    Lovely work!! Your painting technique is so delicate, and Magical!
    As far as gouache goes, the 'designer' colors are intended mainly for reproduction for magazines and the like, not ongoing display, and are not very lightfast. If you buy Artists' gouache, for instance M.Graham or Holbein or Schmincke, the pigments and binder are different and are much more lightfast and archival. Also there are quite a lot of colored pencil brands that are lightfast and archival.

    This is my favourite of your works. I keep coming back and watching it. Have you tried Daniel smith's pearlescent shimmer? It has larger particles of glitter and is so wonderful for silvery sparks. It is my favourite "metallic" paint. And I think of you whenever I use it. Thank you for your channel. I am sorry I am not a patreon - I am on disability, so fixed income, but otherwise I would. Your English is excellent and I love your voice. It is very sweet and soothing. When I was little I lived in europe. when i moved back to the states, I was so badly teased for my accent. Now it is considered more exotic than weird. People are so strange. I tried very hard to lose my accent, but now I wish I had kept it. Blessings to you.

    Lioba, have you tried using watercolor canvas? I have used both oil and watercolors on it. However I haven't used both mediums in the same piece.

    I did a painting of watercolor and water-soluble oil paints in the same painting! I used arches oil paper and I just did the watercolor first and oil last :) I don't know how archival the technique is though.

    Lioba try to use a watercolour tube by US brand Graham. They use some bee's wax in their watercolour pigments and their pigments seem to be brighter than other watercolour brands. Moreover,it is not too expensive of a brand. Keep the gorgeous paintings and tutorials coming. I love them.

    lana diana on youtube here, paints in her sketchbook in oil and she keeps it from seeping thru the page by priming it?? maybe you might want to try that in a piece.? like experiment with some watercolor paper to just prime the part that u want to use oil paint on? idk just an idea !! i love your work

    Interesting! There is one Russian fairy tale "princess frog". It's a nice story, but the plot differs from the br. Grimm, as I remember... Beautiful painting! The frog is adorable. I am subscribed.

    Beautiful painting and really helpful explanations :)
    Just out of curiosity: Was there no issue with copyright using an image by D&G as a reference like this?

    • @LiobaBrueckner
      @LiobaBrueckner  6 років тому +3

      As far as I know it's a greyzone - because I paint the picture and not using the original photograph for my art. :)

    • @JunifarbenIllustration
      @JunifarbenIllustration 6 років тому +1

      Lioba Brückner I did a lot of research about it and as far as I understood it, it‘s not a grey zone. If someone take your drawing and put the photograph next to it and he/she says:“Oh, that looks like the photograph!“ it’s a copyright infringement. So there’s no rule that says: 50% of the drawing need to be changed or something like that, so that it is no copyright infringement anymore. But in this case it’s very clear that you used this specific photo and if you don’t have a written permission from the copyright holder, it’s illegal to make money out of it.
      I will post the reference soon if I find it again 😅

    • @JunifarbenIllustration
      @JunifarbenIllustration 6 років тому +3

      www.thoughtco.com/may-i-make-a-painting-of-a-photograph-2573673
      That was easier to find than I expected :D
      I think is understandable that you can’t just paint from a photography. The photographer came up with the idea/pose/lighting and that’s a creative process. And it’s simply forbidden to steal that to your own advantage. Yes, it is unlikely that D&G/the photographer see this video to make use of their rights as copyright holders. But this doesn’t mean that it is legal to do it :-(

    • @LiobaBrueckner
      @LiobaBrueckner  6 років тому +1

      Dang! how annoying! 😪

    • @forestdesigns9456
      @forestdesigns9456 6 років тому +1

      Yeah, It is kind a Fan Art, :-) but think that D&G probably paid thousands of dollar to photographer and model, and sometimes for every print or displayed picture. And we are talking about top professional photographer. Also... the rights of the picture has D&G company right now. There are a lot of artists that paying photographers for taking pictures for them or there are making they own sessions to avoid this problem. Can I paint your painting and show it on youtube and sell it? You wouldn't like it i suppose. I love your work very much and your channel is great, I don't want to upset you.😘😘😘
