Hello friends, in this video, we will discuss chest pain. Apart from heart-related issues, chest pain may arise from the lungs, blood vessels, gastrointestinal system, muscles, joints, or anxiety. One such condition is Costochondritis, a musculoskeletal pain that commonly affects the area between the 2nd and 5th ribs, often appearing unilaterally.
Symptoms of Costochondritis include stabbing, sharp, and aching pain in the front of the chest, which may radiate to the surrounding areas. This pain may worsen with body movement.
Who is at risk of developing Costochondritis?
It is more prevalent in adults aged 40-50, with a higher occurrence in women (69%) compared to men (56%). Factors associated with this pain may include physical pain, strenuous activity, trauma, chest surgery or infections, arthritis, tumors, and chest wall deformities.
How is Costochondritis diagnosed?
A thorough history and physical examination are crucial. Movements like cross-arm motions can exacerbate the pain. Additional diagnostic tools such as bone scans, ultrasound scans, chest X-rays, MRI, CT scans, or rheumatological scans can also aid in the diagnosis.
What are the treatment options for Costochondritis?
Various approaches can be taken, including topical gels, anti-inflammatory drugs, numbing patches, or physiotherapy. Injections guided by ultrasound can be employed for both treatment and pain diagnosis. Procedures like PRP injections, intercostal nerve blocks, dry needling, and acupuncture, as well as local anesthetics with steroid injections, are among the treatment options available.

sir i found your video very usefull. i was diagnosed with costochondritis two years back.
it went away through medicines. but it comes back in every six months and it gets very uncomfortable. the pain starts with neck stiffness for a few days and the pain moves to back, neck, lower ribs and and last the center. please help sir

I do have the same problem. 1 year back I felt the pain first,
But it was cured by systaflam gel. Now few months back I felt it again and doctors said it may be costochondritis.
He gave me Vit D tablet (one in w week)(Bcoz my Vit D= 24) and evion LC Twice in a day.
Now I don't feel any kind of pain..
I'm little worried bcoz my police training will be started after 6 month.

Sir me saudia me hu mujhe aisa pain ho raha hai 15 din se. Left movement se pain hota ha or burning v hoti rahti ha .left chest or left neck shoulder arm me pain hota hai.

I consulted with doctor and he said it might be costochondritis. I have symptoms like pain but also i have got breathing issue bcz of this. I m not able to take complete breath and when taking forcefully it pains. Doctor said its bcz ribs is not expanding completely and bcz of breathing issue not able to do MRI scan. So can costochondritis cause breathing issue as well? Or it can be bcz of sm other reason?
