- An alien conduct an analysis on love.
XZ3 is used with permission from Emanuele Daga. Learn more at emanueledaga.com.
An elderly couple enjoys an evening in front of the TV when their electricity flickers and they hear a thud. When they investigate the sound, they discover a naked man has somehow "landed" in their kitchen.
But this is no ordinary man. His name is XZ3 and he is an alien from another planet where the feeling of love no longer exists. He has taken on a human form and has been sent to Earth to investigate this forgotten emotional mystery. But the feeling eludes him...until one sublime moment when it all clicks into place.
Written and directed by Emanuele Daga, this charming, tender-hearted short sits somewhere between science fiction, romance and comedy. Much like its titular character, its surfaces are deceptively simple, as is its clean, straightforward visual approach. But with its unabashed open heart, philosophical inquiry and sly sense of whimsy, it exerts considerable charm as it ponders the mysteries and magic of love.
The storytelling has a studied, wry tone, maximizing both comedy and philosophy with the perspective of the alien looking at the strange follies, rituals and mores of human beings. It observes the alien's explorations and examinations as he acclimates to the world around him, as he absorbs languages, media and music with his extraterrestrial abilities, much to the befuddlement of his senior hosts.
The writing finds flourishes of wit and irony in many scenes, and the pacing clips along with entertaining rhythm, while the sci-fi elements are handled with a lightness of touch, economically and deftly accomplished with touches of sound design and performance. But the overall feeling is of genuine warmth, whether it's in how kindly XZ3 is embraced by his elderly hosts (who adorably never question the idea of aliens in the first place) or how earnestly the alien approaches his studies of love.
Actor Carlo Luca De Ruggieri as XZ3 plays the alien with both wan remove and an almost clinical sense of curiosity. Both of these intertwine to make for a fabulously deadpan demeanor, especially juxtaposed against the effusive but confused kindness and generosity of his host couple, played with terrific sweetness by actors Giuseppe Laudisa and Lucia Batassa. Their deep affection for one another is the first example of love that XZ3 encounters, but as the alien absorbs famously tragic love stories like THE SORROWS OF YOUNG WERTHER and ROMEO AND JULIET, his view on love becomes more tortured. But it takes a fortuitous encounter with the music of Romantic composer Liszt -- and the sight of a lovely young woman -- for XZ3 to fulfill his mission.
XZ3 ends on a poignant, wistful note, if not quite an unabashedly romantic one -- one that gives enough of a sense of "passionate tenderness" that the alien was studying, but not quite enough to experience the feeling to its fullest expression. In that sense, the film beautifully captures the elusive mystery that is love in the first place: how we glimpse just enough of its magic and enchantment to keep longing and chasing after, in hopes of capturing its ultimate fulfillment. - Фільми й анімація
A pug asking for a hug, music, a book and just one look on someone in love were enough for the Alien.
It should be enough for us Humans, too, but we have been so picky and arrogant, we ruined everything.
100% true. I use to find happiness in little things when I was kid. But, not anymore. Maybe be we have become arrogant.
@@eighty9 maybe as we grew up and get exposed to more forms of entertainment our demands for love and meaning get unrealistic amidst this whole wreck of a world with so many comparisons on social media. My guess is that we try too hard to desire something extremely profound that we end up becoming unable to fulfil that ideal.
D'accordo. Che triste. 😔
@@eighty9 Never too late to return to the garden!

Good to see Franks career as an alien dog didn’t begin *and* end with MIB.
Little dude is my favorite character.
If only the pug had actually said his name was Frank, then this could of been canon.
“Frank’s” career, not FRANKS career.
Without an apostrophe before the S it means “more than one Frank”.
Every pug looks identical, no?
Alien doggo: "Can you cuddle me a bit?" o.o
i believe doggo was just an earth dog
@@loaiel-hoshy3532 An earth dog can communicate with an alien? It's obviously an alien in disguise.
@@cahidijoyoraharjo7833 I think they're saying dogs are nearly as evolved as this alien but they just hide it, the alien could've just asked the dog about love as a start if he was an alien like him
His name is frank and he first appeared in the movie Men In Black.

Love at first sight....
It's crazy cuz he said that once they achieved eternal life...they forgot feelings of love. I guess once you think about that...makes you wonder how the threat of death anytime makes every moment so precious.
Sarah Ann...you got it!
Bravo
Dude in thumbnail looks like what Bezos would look like if he wasn't a billionaire
Thought the same!!! 😅
I WAS going to suggest Italians as the official alien welcoming party - they didn't bat an eye ,very welcoming, accepting & understanding - *was* - until they put him in the closet! cute, quirky, sweet
Me being Brazilian I gotta put it out there that if aliens want a very warm welcome they can also land here. They’ll have the best fun of their lives hahaha
Silly & precious, reminds me of a 60's TV show, 'My Favorite Martian' starring Ray Walston & Bill Bixby.
After seeing
many weirdly beautiful 1950's & 60's amorphous glassblowers' art, the bowls in particular, I was convinced that, indeed, alien visitors mixed in with the Venetian population, at some point + time, in Venice, Italy. Another location on earth where aliens seem to have mixed in with humans at some point,is Rio di Gennaro in Brazil - which would explain the great love of ornate Mardi Gras masks.. Also, aliens among the Aztecs + Mayans in Mexico & South America, especially at Machu Pichu in Peru. Does anyone reading this agree?
@@westernskies2199 i used to laugh my butt off with my favorite Martian. I was a toddler when one of my older brothers first showed me that show. The three stooges is also an all time favorite. It never gets old for me hahaha
@@westernskies2199 Just a quick correction: it’s “rio de janeiro “. Also yes, Brazil has a lot of ufo activity, also lots of weird stories like the et from Varginha, the led masks mystery, the phoenician carvings on the Gávea stone, operation plate and many more. Look it up. You’ll have fun. Specially with operation plate
As a Brazilian I gotta admit how awesome Italians are. Italian immigrants were very important over here. Much love to our Italian Brothers and sisters
Yeah, if I had to choose any people to welcome aliens it would be Italians. They're all about hospitality and love.
Beautiful story, perfectly composed, directed and acted! And as ever, leaves viewers with having to make up our own _unfinished_ ending!
_Bella storia, perfettamente composta, diretta e recitata! Bravissimo!_ ⭐️⭐️
Since when did Jeff Bezos agreed to be on Omeleto?
After retiring, he is following his passion to become an alien.
This is prior to 1995.
He then started Amazon, shipping books online in the early internet years.
Fast forward to 2021, he now can get back to his planet courtesy Blue Origin Space program.
That was what he was planning all this while...
Fun fact:
Kepler 22 B it’s a real planet and about 600 light years away from us it is in the habitable zone of its star, meaning the temperature is such that liquid water is present on the planet meaning that it does have the capability to sustain life even though we’re not sure if it does.

So, once he felt Love, understood it's nuances, he was transported back to his planet?
I think he killed himself, he felt love for the daughter and then felt pain when she said she was for Luca,
so he vaporized himself in the closet, listening to her favorite Fanz Liszt song, because all he know of love was the desire and denial of it,
and the two books he read were 'Sorrows of Young Werther' and 'Romeo and Juliet', both stories conclude with the suicide of a broken lover.
@@hoppyandhisholidayhelpers1714 I don't think so. This short movie is a comedy, so there's no way that the ending would be as dark as what you just described.
@@cahidijoyoraharjo7833 - there is darkness to love, and comedy.
@@cahidijoyoraharjo7833 Lol...you just want the typical storybook ending!
@@sunwarrior88 No, I'm just being logical, most comedies don't include death in its plot. Just because you want everything to be as dark as your thoughts, doesn't mean everything else agrees with you.

E' stato immenso piacere lavorare su questo piccolo e potente progetto. Emanuele Daga ha saputo donare al pubblico un pezzetto del suo cuore.
Ive watched a lot of Omeleto shorts. This is one of the best. Funny. Poignant. Sweet. Well acted. Quirky. Well done to all involved to the making of this.
6:30 - ah yes the 'good old' no means no (means NO!) - until it's not - no wonder there was (is) such confusion
Bothersome, though I enjoyed the rest of the short.
Good thing he didn't materialize in the U.S. That could have been serious trouble.
Lovely whimsical short, btw, Kudos!
Illegal alien, what.
Everyone a gangsta until an alien read Romeo and Juliet
Finalmente qualcosa in italiano ! Bravi i due coniugi nel recitare e la canzone ha creato una bella atmosfera. Evviva la lasagna ♥️
Cuddle the pug!! Pug hugs shaped the universe!!🐶
De - lightful! Thank you. Wonderful acting; very warm, human, embraceable plotline, too. Thank you.
Ok, last omeleto of the day, things cannot get any better than this...I LOVED IT!!!
For your very first introduction to love, to involve knowing that it is absolutely unrequited, must have been rough. I’d have left too.
I'd be shocked too if a naked Vladimir Putin appeared in my kitchen.
This shortfilm is really amazing. So well acted! To me the alien planet seems to be what earth will become, when earthlings does not change, but go on the way they do.
We shouldn't take for granted the abstract.
Romeo and Juliet is a hard lesson for many.

MATERIALIZE = INCARNATE
Plot twist: The extraterrestrial alien decides to continue his deep analysis of so-called human love, which no dictionary and no words can adequately define, describe or explain, so he reincarnates as XTC and is hosted by a Tantrika (Tantra Master) who shows him how to experience unconditional positive regard for all life and all living beings on all energy frequency vibrations known as Cosmic Superconsciousness.
Im trying to comprehend what you just said
@@ismail91210 same 😂
@@ismail91210, I believe what Andy has so sweetly laid out here is the notion that the alien had just received an _elementary_ level education on love... and he has chosen to go on to do some graduate-level studies. Tantric practices help him to _purify_ love, if you will... to release ego-based choices from the equation so he can experience what then remains -- pure love.
*And this pure love, this pure desire, this experience of oneness without attachment... this is our True Nature. We are already that which we seek.*

What a strange bit of historic trivia.
Weird how the aliens always calls their planets by the same name and number as we do.

He found the crazy meaning of love maybe attraction too. He played her fav song. He super intelligent knows how to read everything and people. He found his analysis of the meaning of love. So he then went back to his planet to bring his analysis of love back on his own planet as he said they lost the meaning for it being immortal. So now he back home and can find lover forever !

Any tennis player would have told him that love means nothing and that if all you have at the end of the game is love then you just lost the game.
I'm not a fan of the pretentious abrupt-ending-without-obvious-closure style of modern story-telling, which often indicates laziness or lack of imagination but in this case it seemed completely appropriate, I'm not sure why. My biggest question is whether the alien got the kiss he needed for his project to be fully realized or if he was forced to kidnap the daughter and take her back to his planet for further study...
What does the last line mean? “But this is…”
i think she recognizes the song, "but this is...(Leibestrum)" like she's trying to remember the name of a familiar song from her old record collection.
Mindy & Mork vibes
O Madonna Santa...I am one of those, too!? 😐 My family treated me just like that. Where am I from...out there? 😔

For a moment I thought its Jeff Bezoz !!
Basically a male Fifth Element. Cool
I don't get the ending.
They told their daughter that as long as she is happy they're OK with her decision, even though, from their reaction, it seems they are not too fond of the idea of "losing" their daughter to marriage.
Meaning that part of loving someone is that even though some things might not be what we hoped for, we accept them because the person you love will be happy. That is probably the utmost demonstration of love, so the alien understood what it meant.
if theres really no love on kepler 22b then what does that leave them with??...shuldnt they have minced each other by now??...our planet is very near that point ☠️...
