  • Nik Silver Efex Pro is one of the leading tools for Black & White photography conversions. It’s very powerful and hugely flexible. Despite its power and popularity, there is one area that gets very little attention. In this tutorial, we look at how you create film-like black and white conversions without needing to touch any of the common tools. You will be surprised how much you can achieve before you start to apply Control Points or Contrast adjustments. Learn to use these tools well and they can dramatically improve your black and white photography.

Really great walkthrough on a subject of great value to those (like me) who are focusing on BnW. The calm tempo injects an “I can do this” belief in the novice editor (like me). Thank you for continuing to pass on knowledge and encouragement.

Thank you very much. I try hard to make my videos as simple as possible (but not too simple). I think too much in photography and image editing is overly complicated when it doesn't need to be. I hope you enjoy some of my other videos as well.

I shoot fp4 all the time and use a darkroom and I’ll tell you that fp4 film type is nothing like fp4. I don’t know what they were thinking there, it’s no where near as high contrast.
Also film isn’t boring and flat without color filters. You need to learn zoning metering and proper processing and then printing to get images that aren’t flat with analog tools
Also be aware of how hdr these images get, which looks like bad calendar photos, not good photography.
