Another nod is Clay looking for his sister like how Rob was looking for his sister in Part 4. That always stuck out to me. Anyone who complains about Jason running needs to do their research.Jason actually does runs in Part 2 & 3. My main issue in this movie was we didn't get the iconic "ki ki ki ma ma ma" throughout the film.
I agree. The first four were the best. Everything else after sucked ass. Wish they would have went with the prisoners screenwriter remake. I've really been wanting to see almost like a shining meets zodiac meets Halloween type version.
This is the way to reboot/remake a movie it’s not just a complete retelling of the original, it takes a bunch of elements from the series and mixes it up while adding some new things of its own, IMO this should’ve been done with the NOES remake instead of throwing a few new things but basically making the same movie as the original
Horrifyingly Hillarious f yeah , I had such hopes for that Freddy but they just wanted to remake the first one with nothing interesting besides Jackie earl Haley , like Freddy a f dream demon you can do what ever you want
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO WHEN U SAID “HOYT” INSTEAD OF “TRENT” I LITERALLY DIED 😂 INSTANTLY REMINDED ME THAT HE PLAYS “HOYT” IN THAT MOVIE “ACCEPTED”...which coincidentally Justin Long is in, they should make a new JEEPERS CREEPERS 🤔
Jason growing that ganja. He should have been a lot calmer in this reboot, but he was more aggressive in THIS one than he has been in any other. Maybe he was just a seller and not a smoker, and the entire movie was a drug dealer defending his product. He was literally Scarface.
Also I think he kept Whitney because she took the locket she found....Jason looks at it, she calls his name and he looks at her, then leaves...I think the locket kept her alive
The death scenes in the reboot are the perfect blend of how practical effects and CG can actually work together it’s a shame more horror films don’t pay attention to this film. The level of care to each one is perfect they actually tried and it’s awesome. Edit* That Old fucking dude in the truck is actually a member of the Hewitt family from the Texas chainsaw massacre reboot.
Watched it back when it came out , but wasn't really a Jason fan back in 2009. Well time has passed and am a Fan of Jason and all the 80s icons of horror.i loved this movie
I loved the Friday the 13th movies. but i wasn't a fan of Jason x much and Jason goes to hell was my least favorite. the remake I liked and yeah It was great seeing Jared padalecki cause I'm a huge fan of supernatural:)
I really enjoyed this remake. I like the fact that Jason ran, like its scary enough that he's going to kill you but the fact that he's going to run after you is much more menacing!!
The hillbilly guy in the barn with the weird teeth is the same guy in the Hitcher remake at the gas station near the beginning of the film. It was suppose to be the same character in both films. Then there's the tow truck driver near the end of Friday the 13th where Trent gets killed. The driver was the same guy from the Texas Chainsaw Massacre remake (the guy in the wheel chair and driving the tow truck) with Jessica Biel which was suppose to be the same character. All were Michael Bay produced and loosely based in the same universe. I would've liked to have seen it continue.
Destination Station Trent is also the same Trent from the first Transformers film. Friday the 13th and Transformers are within the same universe strangely enough. Now that would be an interesting crossover film.
I love the concept of two guys just drinking a beer and talking horror. This is my favorite Friday 13. The others just look too old school. New subscriber
I enjoyed the remake I watch it after Freddy vs Jason and before Jason X I know it's a remake but there alot of elements of the movie that don't disregard anything that came before it. In the mine there alot of items that Jason was hoarding from the other film's. Although it's only been regarded as a remake of Friday the 13th (1980), it also combines story elements from Friday the 13th Part 2 (1981) and Friday the 13th Part III (1982), along with several references to Friday the 13th: A New Beginning (1985), Jason Lives: Friday the 13th Part VI (1986), and Jason X (2001). Also in the Camp Crystal Lake Chronicles documentary the cast and writers say that the film was conceived as a sequel and it was later made into a remake but they always saw it as a sequel to Freddy vs Jason.
The people in the beginning when theyre checking the GPS, when they couldn't find where they were going, the nerd mentions that there's also mines in the area that don't show up....so Jason took over the mines, he may have built them or he could just use the existing ones
Liked the reboot but why did that guy in the bear trap just sit there still when he saw Jason coming at him? I know he couldn’t get up and run, but it’s as if his strategy was to block Jason’s blade w his skull...
I enjoyed this movie all the way up to the ending and it just kind of fizzled out for me there. The kills were pretty damn great for the most part and I loved how brutal Jason was. It definitely could have been a good starting point for more movies. Hopefully we get another one soon. If they make it like they did the first 20 min or so of this movie it will be incredible.
You guys are so right. The first part of the movie is awesome. After that, not so much. Willa Ford's part on the boat/in the water is the best part besides the opening.
Great review guys! This is one of my all-time favorite Jason films. It takes the best of Friday 1-3 and has a pretty good story. I liked the angle of saving a sibling. And I didn't mind Jason taking Whitney hostage because it established how she is the spitting image of his mother right before. And she has the locket, so he thinks she's his mom (good nod to Part II). And I would've loved for them to make movies from this one. It's one of the best in the series and Jason in the winter sounds dope. But even if they don't make any (really wish they made the one due this year; script was awesome), I can enjoy this one as a one-off film. As far as Friday movies go, with Final Chapter being the gold standard 10/10, I'd give this a 9/10. Great story for a Jason film, BEST opening in series or maybe even of all horror movies (seriously left me shook when he gets all of them in 10 mins followed by title drop), good cast (I like Jared Padaleki, douche bag Trent was hilarious, and other two guys were good bros), added to the lore of Jason with the tunnels, inventive kills, and stellar ending sequence. This was a great surprise for me.
I got into so much trouble watching this movie. I cut P.E in 7th hour. My dad asked me why I didn't go to P.E? I said whow cares about basketball? So what you make a shot, oh cool 5 points touchdown. I'd much rather watch a movie. Dad walks off shaking his head.
On the note of Willa Ford's death scene, the script actually did have her just drowning because she was getting too tired. Kinda wished they had kept that, honestly
To be honest I liked this reboot film over the nightmare on elm st reboot. I liked the movie. It made Freddy's back story a lot darker than the original, but it fizzled out for me. I liked the 2009 remake a lot and I always wondered why they didn't continue with the series because after part 5 they got ridiculous and silly and Jason X the worst of them all.
I've always believed that part 6 should have ended it. Freddy should have released him from the depths of the lake rather than after 3 bad sequels. The only good thing about those was Kane Hodder.
this film opened huge. it was number 1 at the box office that weekend. however, fans at the time did NOT like it. bad word of mouth killed it. the second weekend it tanked. i think it even fell out of the top 5 for it's second weekend.
It was weird/different seeing Jason holding someone hostage. Used to him showing no mercy on anyone. Everyone in the movie theatre laughed when Trent screamed like a girl. Lol. This reboot was alright.

Michael Trapson Maybe Rob was looking for the, man in the mirror.
Rob wasn't looking for his sister he knew she had been killed by Jason. He was looking for Jason he wanted to kill him for killing his sister.
Darth Vader Jones Instead of looking for Jason, Rob should have just beat it.
111highgh well it was still nod because they were both similar type characters on search mode in Crystal Lake.
I thought it was cool how they basically crammed Fridays part 1-3 into one remake. I dug it.
I liked the remake of friday the 13th it felt like they took elements from the first 4 orginal friday the 13th films
and Jason was much more frightening with the running and shit.
