Have no fear, The Wiz is here! But is it worth the trip to Emerald City to see him? 🤔 Instagram | / mandelah_ Thanks for watching! ✌ 🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉🍉 #broadway #nyctheater #thewiz
Saw the show & agree with everything you said, including the “Charlie/Chocolate Factory” stuff! That has to be one of the poorest designs I’ve ever seen on B’way & I’ve been around a hot minute.
I enjoyed your mindful overall review! I have followed Phillip Johnson Richardson's career of ongoing opportunities that demonstrates his multiple talents! Phillip's grandmother & I was classmates & friends since our elementary school years & still close friends! My last conversation with Phillip was at Chili's Restaurant in Mt. View, Ca. I encouraged him to continue staying focus on his career goals & health. I was happy to hear your appreciation of his talents! 🥰🙏🎤🎼
I saw this show as well and you're 💯 % correct. I gave it a C- minus. This Wiz is a Fizz! Felt like i was watching an amateurish High school production. Love Love LOVE the Brilliant Timeless Classic film version the BEST ! Its on a whole different level. I would ask THE WIZ for a HUGE winning lottery ticket that would make me set for life. Along with great health to enjoy it and help my mom 😁
@cityboyzusa4733 I saw the stage play with Stephanie Mills. I enjoyed the film much more. It's hard to try to compare movies and live theater anyway. High-school students can put on a theater show so what. But not everyone can put together an elaborate beautiful film which allows an individual to take a real journey and go on a real adventure. I prefer the Diana Ross version.
@cityboyzusa4733 The stage play is a copycat cut and paste of the 1939 film just done in Black Face it was okay for a stage experience, just like a film on a movie screen holds its own. Can't even compare the 2. I've seen better high school productions. Even the NBC Live version sucked. The movie is on a whole other spectrum of grandeur. uniqueness, brilliance, and chic that stage buffs will never fully understand. How about you stick to stage play if that is what you like. You're certainly entitled.
It was great. Music, dancing, omg. ❤

She's back! EDIT: Wayne Brady as The Wiz is unbelievable!
I'm glad you enjoyed his performance!
Such a great review, and thank you for your perspective! I’m excited to listen to the cast album tomorrow. 😊

You need to see the original conception of The Wiz. It was superior to that movie, reconstructed as a vehicle for Diana Ross by Berry Gordy.

Yea, I didn't feel the movie magic. The original was MY favorite.
