I know what you mean Ryan this movie is special to me.......first time my brother and I saw a movie without our parents also the last starfighter that same summer ..........wonderful!!!!
The human chorus in this piece has a haunting, ethereal quality, just amazing and hard to put into words, it makes you feel like you are partaking in this epic emotional journey! Bravo Mr. Horner this is one of your most memorable works!
James Horner gave us some of the most beautiful haunting movie music out there int he movies he scored. He left us way too soon. He was one of my favorite composers. No tell what beautiful music he would have composed if he hadn't died. Rest in Peace Mr. Horner. I miss your beautiful music, thank you for what you did leave us.
Beautiful and this scene, especially the moment at 2:45 really brings home the tragic and bittersweet moment of reconciliation. The film despite it's many flaws also has POWERFUL themes of Fate. Those who are trying to follow their fate-Colwyn and Lysa, Those trying to change their fate,-The bandits. Those trying to avoid their fate-Rell and The Beast....and those finally accepting their fate-Ynyr and The Widow. It's all a cycle that keeps repeating over and over again in time.
Haunting, and I love the cadence in the opening half (I wish I knew how to properly name it), and then it opens up into that great tragic romantic melody in the second half, with the weeping high strings), coupled with the line of threatening music for the spider's attack. Makes me think of my favorite parts of Willow.
OK folks, bear with me. From 3:00 to 3:17, I can see where Christopher Young drew inspiration from James Horner. Listen to the tracks "Headless Wizard" from Hellraiser 2 and "What's the Magic Word" from The Fly 2. That being said, this music will go down in history as classical for future generations. Glad to have lived it!
This movie is far, far better then it should be perceived as, thanks to James Horner's epic soundtrack. Without it, the blatant ripoff of Lord of the Rings ripoff, Star Wars and the Thief of Baghdad Aladdin movies makes you switchoff after 1 minute.
They just don't make heart felt tear jerker soundtracks like this anymore. James Horner you were one of a kind. R.I.P.
RIP James Horner, I love your work on this film
A track that induces me into tears.....now thats an ARTIST!

This was such a great scene and the score made it even more so.
Agreed. My most favorite scene and score from the film.
3:18 to 3:45 is just beautiful
@ 2:45 ...something about that moment of music I love.
RIP Freddie Jones.

Only Love ❤️
Love the Bernard hermann vibe
I am flying like a bird
I feel like I was 10 years old again
No worries at all in the world
Death is but a doorway....
Time is but a window ....
I'll be back?
