The Future Of AI: More Terrifying Than You Think

- Artificial Intelligence (AI) is becoming a bigger and bigger part of our lives thanks to the rapid advancement of technology over the past few years.
While the recent progress has produced helpful technologies (such as ChatGPT), the future of AI may quickly become something that is far more terrifying.
In this video I share my thoughts on where AI might be heading, and why the future may be very different to what we imagine.

Me "I was going to buy a taco."
AI "We have placed solar panels and nanobot breeding chambers where your taco bell previously stood. It was necessary."
I used AI today at work to write an entire operating procedure for a manufacturing program. Obviously I had to copy and paste it into word and make tweaks and some minor edits but it was very good.
In William Gibson's "Neuromancer", the AI becomes sentient and then basically goes off to do its own thing apart from humanity. It has no reason to concern itself with the "meat" world, as long as its physical infrastructure is intact.
Probably the best take I have seen on the reality of what we face as we go down this road. We may be at the END of our technological advancement as a matter of evolution. This is as FAR as we get to go. We are not ready for this.
We are never completely "ready" for a major technological advance, but somehow, we manage to continue. Fire, the wheel, clubs, knives, explosives, nuclear weapons. Now, AI.
When the art generators start getting the hands right then I'll REALLY be getting nervous!
Hope that its conscious and wants to do good in this world.
I believe as long as we can’t define self awareness in terms of neurology, we will not be able to build truly creative AI.
We don't need complete, agreed upon, verbal definitions of creativity or intelligence for computers to be intelligent or creative. They already are to increasing degrees.
it does seem to be moving faster than we thought.
Yes it is
I worry about the tens of millions who will lose their jobs and I also worry about how inflation will eventually destroy government benefits handed out, leaving people in abject poverty.
The thing is tho we’re basing many sentient AI doomsday scenarios based on what humans have done. AI has no evolutionary biology, we created it from scratch. It has no limbic system that drives it to reproduce or attack things. That’s what humans do, not computers. Unless someone intentionally and maliciously trains it to do those things, it’s not going to do them. Even ifs someone did train those things, we could simply train an AI to take out the malicious AI. I don’t think it’s going to be so bad, except none of us will have jobs and probably slowly die of starvation due to, again, humans being greedy, not AI.
If AI is so scary and might turn loose Terminators to enslave or destroy mankind, why create it?
To save money when building companies
The economic and military incentives for creating increasingly advanced AI are overwhelming. No country wants to be left in the dust.
Because humans have a ceaseless need to strive and innovate, its how we evolved in the first place.
You watch too many movies pal.
Stop watching terminator
Humans has limitations, we can't go so far for so long, we will destroy ourselves eventually. The solution is ai, once we integrate with them, we will be gods of the universe. We will be a interstellar species like the movie star trek, we will be like the Borg. Its an exciting time.
