CORRECTION: killing a give-up-warlord-trait tank ace doesn't actually give up slay the warlord. It'd still be your named warlord, they'd just not get a trait. Apologies for the error! It's certainly more helpful to us that way. Thanks to sairence for pointing that out :)
So picking a tank ace instead of a warlord trait doesn't actually make slay the warlord easier on you. You still nominate your warlord as normal, but you don't pick a warlord trait. Instead you give one of your tanks an ace-trait. So your Company Commander will still be your warlord, he just won't get a trait for it.
You can double down on the same Tank Ace ability RAW. So that's two basilisks with Full Payload in the vigilus detachment. Add a second detachment with Hammer of Sunderance Tank Commander from Vigilus and you have three vehicles with flat three damage weapon profiles.
Ah really? Hadn't considered that, they're usually pretty good at restricting that kind off stuff. Two Tank Commanders at 2+ sv or -1 damage has potential too...
I think its worth mentioning that old grudges is against a datasheet - like say guardsmen or deathwatch veterans This means its criminally good against ranks of intercessors or whatever (Or maybe I've got the rules wrong!)
This is off topic from the video but just after some help. What units can be issued orders from a company commander? Is it just standard infantry units or any unit with infantry keyword? For instance could a heavy weapon squad or veteran squad be issued orders?
It is any Infantry unit with the same Regiment as the officer issuing the order. So if you have a Cadian company commander, he can give orders to Cadian infantry squads, veteran squads, heavy and special weapon squads, command squads, whatever. Just so long as they share the same regiment. He CANT order Scions or Ogryns though, since they have their own fixed regiment keywords, or obviously a Tallarn infantry squad, unless you also make him Tallarn.
You should put up a US affiliate link mate, at least for Amazon or something lol. Good work tho, found you the other day while looking for tips on getting back in after a looooong hiatus.

Try playing against imperial fists while your iron warriors. The cover system doesn't exist then lol. you play astra militarium? I might be able to help you out if give me some more context. Imperial fists are especially good against vehicles which guard are processed of a lot of good options for sadly. keeping distance might be a good option, basks, leman rus tank commanders with battle cannon, the wyvern. The emperors wraith and emperors fist specialists detactments are two great options.
@@dominusbalial835 i play guards, ad mech and necrons. my bad, but i ll let it here so other don"t make the mistake : Hi man, a slight correction, slow and purposeful only let you reroll A wound roll of 1 for each attack, not all of them. Thats quite underwhelming.
Each shot is an individual attack so it's full reroll all wound rolls of 1. It's worded the same as a bunch of similar rules that function the same way, but I admit the wording isn't the most helpful for people understanding it!

@ArtoriusaurusRex Thats a good thought! Yeah, getting the 2CP without locking you into the cadian trait is very interesting :)
sry i dont get it. if you want to have two aces, one has to be the WL to get the WL trait isnt it? so this one gets shot instantly`?
Yesterday I first tried out Tank Aces...my Commander with Hammer of Sunderance and the extra -1 AP one got two engine kills and one shot abbadon:-)

Thanks for the catch, I recorded this one before I'd realised that! Will post a correction above, cheers :)

As always a great video, backed up with hard facts and stats
Valkyrie! Valkyrie! Valkyrie! (that means guard AND scion valkyrie btw, im including a guard based one in my army and need some tips and buffs fast!)
It'll certainly be done before long :)
@@auspextactics can you stick a tank ace on a valkyrie? i see it just says astra miltarum vehicle.
Tallarn, Steel commander and inspired tactis and you now have 3 leman russ using 'Get around behind them' to move-shoot-move it's awesome !!!
Good content. As always. Thx

As an Iron Warriors player it's good to know that Hull Down Deployment is useless against us.
Fiendish chaos :D
Does it mean that I can set my Baneblade/Hellhammer as a warlord, but on the other side not being able to give tank orders?
how can we make a basilisk hit on 3+
New stratagem, 1cp, +1 to hit when firing direct fire w indirect platform

I might be mistaken but isn't it possible to make a basilisk ace+vigilus strategem make a unit take -4 penalty to Ld?
seems so. but is it worth it? marines are often in 5 man squads
Against marines i agree. How about vs Necrons Ld 10 and 10 man squads.
i think givening a tank ace to a relic tank will waste you relic tanks as its priotity no1 and you will lose your tank ace to
i woud rather us the super heavy ones
They are fun, but not as effective as leman russ ones..
master machanic is rubbish anything that shots a lemanruss is going to be a big gun with very high damage.
Your spelling/ grammar is rubbish 😁

Tank Ace abilities are pretty meh apart from 2-3.
