    This video shows the brand new 2015 DF200A 200-horsepower inline four cylinder outboard motor in action. We installed this four stroke motor on our 2150 Bluewater Center Console, repowering from a two stroke 200hp Yamaha OX66. This Suzuki offers boaters a new dimension in 4-stroke power as it delivers the kind of impressive performance one would expect only from a V6 engine. The prop is a 3x16x21.5 stainless steel 3-blade. The DF200A is super quiet and has the following features:
    Direct Air Intake and Variable Valve Timing for exceptional performance
    175 cu in “Big Block” Displacement and a Higher Compression Ratio with for impressive acceleration and low end torque
    Lean Burn Control Technology for improved fuel economy
    Knock, O2 and Water Detection Sensors and systems to monitor and control internal engine operating parameters and improve reliability
    Importantly, the new 4-stroke DF200A weighs in at just 498 lbs, over 12% less than Suzuki’s V6 200 horsepower outboard.

    Very nice engine. I have the older v6 df200. It’s an animal. I think if I were ever to repower I’d go 225 because I’d miss that hole shot power of the v6. Nice video. 👍🏼

    Great review, I will consider this motor, when the time comes to upgrade the power plant on my vessel.

    Excellent 👍. I am happy to have found your video. I'm looking at a very comparable length and weight boat and putting the 200 Suzuki on it and my goal is to be able to cruise at 32 at 4 miles per gallon so when you said that I was like oh yeah! So I see this video was 7 years ago can you tell me what your long-term opinion is on this engine overall life maintenance? versus a Yamaha? Those are the only two I'm looking at and I'm really leaning heavily towards the Suzuki because it seems like that's the direction everybody's going for fuel economy and reliability. Thank you 👍

    Very nice post!
    Purchased ours on Feb 20 and stoked about getting it installed! We sprung for the DF200APX with precision controls. Very similar repower. Going from a 99 OS66 200HP. Boat is a 23.5 WAC Sea Pro with Armstrong Bracket.
    Curios as to your new top speed?

    • @jgriff9434
      @jgriff9434  9 років тому +2

      Nice! I am sure the precision controls will be a good to have. We've gotten our boat up to 47mph so far with the new motor.

      47 is plenty fast.
      Actually just got off the phone with my dealer. Suzuki notified him the APX models haven't even left Japan and could be May getting to the U.S. He was more irritated than me about the unavailability. We have the boating fever too bad to wait that long. So, looks like we'll go with the same setup you have as it can be onsite next week. Will do a video like yours and shoot you the link when we're back in the water.

      So, about 3 years later now... how would you say your adjusted change in MPG has been from the OX66's? As well as how significantly better is the noise and smoke?

    ***** hi J Griff ,what size prop do you have ,I have the same motor with a 3x14 3/4x23 suzuki prop on a epic 22sc. My take off seems slow but my top end is 60 mph. whats yours, you seem to have more initial take off than mine. thanks

    Looking to repower a 1999 20' Seaswirl WA. Replacing a 150 Evinrude, and was debating between the 175 and 200. !75 would be fine, but who wouldn't like a extra 25 ponies, Right? Question is the price difference. Have not had a chance to get a quote on the DF200A and was looking for a ballpark figure, motor only. Understand if you want to keep that info private, but I'm sure there are many others out here contemplating the same swap. How does the new compare to old Yammy?

    • @jgriff9434
      @jgriff9434  9 років тому

      You should be able to get one of these motors (200hp) for under $17k including installation, etc. And I don't think you can go wrong with the extra horsepower!

    • @jgriff9434
      @jgriff9434  9 років тому +1

      And overall it is definitely better than the Yamaha we had. Out of the hole is similar but top speed is a little higher with the Suzuki. Suzuki is a lot quieter at idle and much better fuel economy.

      Timothy Belvin Just mounted the DF200A on our 1999 21' Parker yesterday. It replaced a 1999 Yamaha 150TXRX The price difference between the 175 analog and 200 analog is $900.00. With the 175 analog you are looking about $11,900 for the motor add in guages, harness,, controls, prop and installation you are looking at about $14,878.90. Digital is the way to go with the fly by wire system. You cant beat it. Now for the break in process! Happy hunting.

      probably for the same reason everybody's choosing Suzuki. it's the number one repower for a reason 6-year warranty parts and labor better fuel economy and just as reliable if not more reliable than the Yamaha. you look at the charter market the sea tow guys everybody's gone Suzuki

    You went from a v6 yamaha to the 4 cylinder 4 stroke. Did the suzuki feel sluggish while jumping up compared to the big yamaha? I would love a new 250hp 4 stroke, but my boat would sit really low in the ass end.

    You said you picked up top end. How much? How about cruising speed? I have over 3000hrs on my Yamaha carb 200s. I love the performance where I’m at now. I run 48 fully loaded down and 51 light. I get about 1.3 on the flowscan at cruise on my 1977 25 mako. want to at the least keep those numbers. It’s either going to be twin 200 Suzuki or 200 merc s. Can’t get any answers.

      J Griff if you ever decide to sell it. Let me know! I'd love a bw 2150 for near coastal fishing and nearby offshore when its just me and the wife instead of launching the catamaran to head out anywhere other than the flats.

      Check out the video where they compare a 115 Mercury Optimax to a 115 Mercury 4 strike on the same boat. The 4 stroke DOG wins in both acceleration and top speed. The 4 strokes have come a long way. Or check out the Yamaha 250 H.0.
