PlayStation Move controllers are equipped with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries, which can wear out over time due to regular use. As the battery wears out, it can become difficult or impossible to charge the controller, leading to a decrease in battery life or complete failure to charge. Some of the original PS Move controllers are over 10 years old and they batteries need to be changed to continue using them on our PS3, PS4 and PSVR systems!
This video is an easy guide on how to change the internal batteries in your PS Move controllers! With the current price of Move controllers, this is a worthwhile fix!

If the controllers are anything like the PS3 controllers, they need a data connection to charge, meaning it has to be a full cable with all 4 wires, and it needs to charge in a PC or console that connects to it via data, you cannot charge it with a USB power brick.

I was coming here to say the same thing, except mine wouldn't charge connected to a computer, only to my PS3. It probably negotiates with the controller to tell it to charge. The standalone charging stands must have mocked this signal up.

I think that you meant to say that you should turn the screws slightly anti-clockwise before tightening into the plastic to prevent stripping the threads, not clockwise. Great video as always Mark 👍👍😊😊😎😎

Cardboard, plastic or 'Smurf Poo' could work for securing the battery also, I'd assume. Just a thought! (Might not the use sponge cause it to absorb moisture over time and use? Just saying!).

What a detailed tutorial. Thanks a lot😊🎉❤. My couple controller didn't charge for around two years. It seems the charging speed become very slow or unchargable. If so, I'll try this way to fix it .Hope it will work 😮

@@MarkFixesStuff you know what , the solution is that I charging them in ps4 sleeping mode and after about few hours maybe , they recovered. It seems that I can't charging and playing game both at the same time , that will cause the charging speed very slow. Overall , the battery is still alright, they revived. Maybe it's just a miracle, who knows🙃.

Additional Comment: those 'odd' mini USB leads are just like cheap knock-off Apple replacements then? They sometimes charge at a much slower rate/speed; and the charge percentage is still relatively low after a few hours of charging. Just saying!

This is a perfect application for the chip I think. Some of the first type of move controller batteries are long dead now.

Be sure to be gentle so as not to cause any issues later on. Excessive tugging can tear or damage the ribbon cable. (Obvious, perhaps, but always best to keep in mind). (LOL).

PS Move came out in 2010 on the PS3 and was later adopted into the PSVR system on PS4. The Move controllers are really old.

I probably just said the wrong year for the PSVR. I don't have a script. The point I was trying to make is that the PS Move came out with the PS3 and was later used i the PSVR so there are controllers older than ten years out there. Apologies.
