It's weird that when we are younger without as much to cover we put it all on, and when we get older and may want more coverage we can't pile it on anymore. I use concealer strategically for my 'foundation'.
The NYX concealer in the pump has been life changing for my dry aging skin - the only product I can wear without looking like a cake face. I use it as foundation. The only product that smooths my skin and doesn't cling to texture you can't otherwise see.
@@kerenkrollI agree. So great as a foundation for us older woman. I just discovered the new makeup forever glow foundation. So beautiful and as an under eye concealer it is awesome.
I am in my early 60’s. Through trial and error I have adopted most of these tips. It’s good to hear I am on the right track. The one tip I would add is Don’t skip a moisturizing skincare routine prior to makeup application. It takes a little experimentation to find the products which work well under makeup without pilling. In my twenties and thirties I could get away without prepping my skin. Now it’s a must.
Love all of these tips! I'm 29, but even though I'm not over 40 yet, I think these are also great makeup techniques for those of us (like myself) with dry skin, textured skin, and small eyes. Such a great collab video!
Two incredible beauties sharing their valuable makeup tips for those over the age of forty! Many have worked for me, and I am over the age of sixty! Thanks so much, Marlena, and Lisa, for continuing to offer your knowledge, expertise, and genuine joy, advancing the You Tube beauty community for so many! Love, and hugs, ladies, Sherrey🩷💄🩷
Thanks for the ideas! I'm older and if I'm going to use eyeshadow a primer is a must. Sometimes I can get away with a matte nude look without having lids that look like a jigsaw puzzle but mostly the lines are there without something to fill the cracks first. Also as I've aged I'm finding cream shadows more forgiving than powder.
Please, let‘s just strive for a bit of honesty here. Do shinier lipsticks fill in fine lines better and give the lips a fuller appearance? Absolutely. But the whole „when I wear this people ask if I got filler and I‘m like no it‘s just this lipstick and the way I apply it“ thing is really phony here. These are not Marlena‘s original lips. And that is fine and a personal decision. But be up front about it. For those of us, like me, who have been following you since the start, we‘re not blind. Just be honest about it.
I’ve changed my makeup techniques completely as I hit 60. Nothing under the eyes: no concealer, no liner, no mascara. I have fine lines, but they look better without makeup. I start my foundation on the outer edges because that’s where I need discoloration coverage. On my lips I wear a lip pencil that is not creamy and fill in my lips but I don’t take it all the way to the edges since they are beginning to downturn slightly.
This is a great video! Thank you both! I have probably 20 years on you ladies, and I agree with your statements. I have Rosacea, and I FINALLY learned to use foundation only around and on my nose to cover the redness. As you said, it’s all in the center of my face-but it looks SO much better! The best point you made was that makeup is FUN! We need to TRY things, if it doesn’t work, wash it off! Try something else! I’ve loved makeup since I was TWO! I’m nearly 62, and I adore it! Not stopping now!
I am 38 and rediscovering make-up again since my early twenties! I watched your videos then to help me with my techniques and I am SO glad you have these videos so I can learn with you all over again!! It is almost as if I am reliving my youth 😆😅
Marlena you are a huge inspiration to me getting into makeup and starting my channel! You’ve never lost your passion through everything you’ve been through and watching your videos makes me feel so motivated to chase mine too. Thank you for being you! ❤
Yup! The lip liner is a must! I also lean more towards satin shadows on my lid as well. Marlena, I really feel like I have grown up with you, I started my obsession with makeup with you back in 2011. You have been helping me ever since. Thank you ❤
It does! I HATE when people say you can't wear shimmers when you get older. I find they look more flattering. My mom is 70 and I always apply shimmers on her and it looks amazing
I just want to say Lisa is AMAZING!! I bought brushes from her about a year ago, 1 brush was missing and she replaced it very quickly . I truly appreciate her customer service.
Great tips!!!! Lip liner is a must and brown eyeliner and no powder preferred lol but I usually have to on my nose and chin 🤍🤍🤍 thanks girls you are both amazing!!!!
The BK beauty brushes are really nice. I think I first saw you talking about them and I went ahead and bought one brush. I think it was an eyeshadow brush and I really liked it. So I went ahead and bought the eyeshadow set of Lisa's at Ulta. And I really am enjoying using those brushes. I'm actually thinking about going ahead and getting the bigger brushes that come in a set. I got to say well worth the money. I've been using makeup since I was 11 years old and I've been in theater professionally since I was 16. Now I'm a professional entertainer and I do enjoy those brushes. I think the price point is excellent and the quality is top notch. Thanks for developing such a good and yet affordable product. I am 70 years old BTW
I love you ladies thank you so so much for the tips and ideas! I'm hitting 40 in May and I can definitely tell the closer I get. My skin is so different now.
Thank you very much for this summary of no-goes. Now when I am in my 40s too I also waived black eye liners and fully matt shadows... And I adore naturally looking skin with complimenting slightly shimmery blush and shimmers on eyes are a must! Please let me know what eyeshadows you both wear - they are stunning!!! 😍
Lisa is the nicest person. She truly is. She was incredibly kind to me with an order of BK brushes. Downright charitable. I think I suggested BK beauty brushes to every influencer. A few days before Nikki came out with her Collab, she used a different brush than BK and I left a message, asking her why she was using another brush brand! I am just so happy for Miss Lisa and Mr. Paul, and for everyone else who benefits from the brushes. That would be anyone who uses them. I promise.
As you get older creams and liquids I think are a must. They melt into the skin and look so much more natural and flattering, but it also doesn’t last as long as a powder obviously so my question is, Patrick Ta recommends putting a powder blush down then a cream over it to bring back that skin like look to the cheeks and it always looks gorgeous and more natural. I’ve done this with other blushes and get the same result. So why are we told to avoid putting creams and liquids over powders but recently have been told to do that exact thing? Why does it work sometimes and lifts the makeup or causes patchiness etc other times? Also, why do we sometimes get pilling while other times we do not, even if it’s with the exact same products?
Ok I've been around since the beginning of time with both of you content creator makeup artist/geeks and watching you have fun together is so fun!!! As a retired "girl boss" from a successful 30 year run in my own retail stores I understand all the ups and downs/highs/lows of "running the shop" so to speak! It ain't always pretty and it ain't always easy but it sure is personally fulfilling when it starts to gain momentum. Enjoy that and keep your head! So proud of you two....keep riding the rails...there's so much more ahead! Just your channels alone stand on their own merit. Keep bringing the content, we love it!!
I truly appreciate both of you. Whether you do a video together or separately, I always feel better after watching. Your tips are amazing and both of your kind hearts shine through every time. So thank you to both of you. Big hugs!
I love that you ladies are filming together! I adore you both! Great tips for us ladies with more fine lines ! I’m 60 and while I still like my colors I just use them a little differently now!
Great video, thank you, felt a bit relieved knowing that we women have similar issues in our 40s and makeup techniques require revisions around this age & less is more, glad I am doing some things right :)
Such cool video!! I'm 41 and i'm learning to do my makeup!! Thank you ladys for the tips. And oh, i love and admire you for wearing a cross Marlena, especially in present days.
This was fun! Getting tips from two Ladies I admire a lot is great. I totally agree about the brown eyeliner as opposed to black, even though I still have dark hair, (with a little help of course,) I switched to brown a while back. Black became too stark and hard looking for me. Thanks you two, I loved seeing you together.
Thank you for these ideas. I enjoy seeing the two of you together and having fun. I also appreciate that you are sharing things from your personal experience, and I am going to try a few things this week to see how they work for me. :-) I have learned that for me, I need to pay much more attention to skin prep before applying makeup. I have dry, sensitive skin, and I need to make sure that I am moisturized well before applying makeup. My facial shape has changed a little bit, so I have started lifting my blush and highlighter a little bit higher on my cheeks instead of putting them on the apple of the cheek. Finally, I have to pay a lot more attention to ingredients, especially in foundation, because I find that denatured alcohol causes problems for me. My skin has always been sensitive, but it has become more so over time.
Thank you! These are great tips. Marlena, your makeup is gorgeous, loving the eye shadow and lashes, and Lisa- your skin is amazing and looks pretty. I'm so glad I watched this video ✨
It' s totally the opposite for me😅. As a goth, the only thing I adoooore about aging is fat pads loss, having chiseled Maleficent-ish features and sunken Willem Dafoe cheeks. Not only I don' t try to soften all these constant changes but I enhance hollows and pointy bones even more✨💀✨. The more harsh the better. Treti-suncreen for a lovely skin, at home device + ATO radiofrequency sessions to keep the lower third in its place and Happy Halloween every day! That 2009 photo🥹, I was there! The nostalgia🥺... In spite of not being the target, anyways THANK YOU you for these beyond useful and helpful tips. What a treat collab💫💫 🧛🏻♀️🖤
It’s so interesting how everyone’s faces are different. I have horrible pigmentation/melasma around the edge of my face, so I feel like I go heavy with foundation around there and then much lighter towards the middle.
Before the CT Hollywood glow /Elf dupe mania online, I bought & still use Lisa Eldridges Elevated Glow which gives a beautifully natural skin illumination.
I have definitely found Urban Decay's Ozone pencil to be my bestie. it's clear and keeps my lip liner out of my lines, cures bleeding and also the corners of my eyes. It keeps it from seeping in my fine lines. Especially, because I'm either in the heat training dogs or running around the hospital
42 here and I stopped wearing black eyeliner on top lid as much because I feel like it started to age me unless I wear a super thin line. Something I noticed too is now a lot of my bright red lipsticks aged me too even with lipliner. I saw a tip where a makeup artist warmed up the red on her hand and pressed it and it made the color look less severe. Starting to think muted red lip colors are more my friend.
I stopped lining my waterline as it made my eyes look tiny. In fact no eye makeup below my eyes. Just concealer. At 64 the problem I'm having is thin lips. No more red lipstick, it just doesn't look good. Kathy B
Back in the day women used to bathe with their makeup on to get that glowy look to the skin, or lay a moist washcloth over their face. Now we have setting mists that not just put moisture back into the skin but gets rid of that flat matte, powdery and cakey look. The sponge also makes a huge difference to get a more skin like appearance while being able to even out our skin and add color back on the face. Before the beauty sponge, they used those wedges and before that they used their fingers with the warmth of the body to get that seamless look. We’ve come a long way with beauty products and inventions. Now they even sell “skincare” brushes when any brush will do ya.😂
I love your collaboration, I only wish you would had shown more affordable options for those of us that can't afford to pay 40.00 for a pressed powder.
T zone oily and not the rest of my face. Still need to powder so nothing sticks. Guess I will used ore gloss over my matte lipsticks. Great job ladies!!!
Yes👏🏽, yes👏🏽, yes👏🏽, yes👏🏽 and yes to all! Lol I’ve changed things up as I realize certain things don’t work anymore for me. As a woman who’s 43, I LOOVE L’Oréal’s tinted serum because foundation does not sit on me well anymore. I still love the shimmer and it brings out my eyes. I want to try brown liner. 😁👍🏽💖🫶🏽 Great tips!
Loved filming this with you! So much fun!
Now that I’m in my 40s full coverage foundation is a big no!
And I 100% agree about shimmer on the eyes!!!
Same here 🙋🏻♀️
same! I can do full coverage just in spots but not all over face anymore- it looks cake and thick
We need a tutorial with both their makeup. Please each one make a video on your respective channels, thanks!
Two beautiful ladies......thanks for the great tips!
It's nice to have someone to listen to that is closer to my age. Thanks for validating my opinion of staying away from a heavy bottom liner.
I am in my early 60’s. Through trial and error I have adopted most of these tips. It’s good to hear I am on the right track. Lisa is beautiful just as you are Marlena. Thanks for sharing all of this!
Love all of these tips! I'm 29, but even though I'm not over 40 yet, I think these are also great makeup techniques for those of us (like myself) with dry skin, textured skin, and small eyes. Such a great collab video!
I can't leave the house without a bit of shimmer or glitters on the eyes. I'm older and find it makes my eyes look bigger. 😊
I love shimmer eyeshadows. Marlena, I just love your laugh & how real you are. You're beautiful.
Thank you for being here for us !

I was honestly thinking hmm doesn't she have filler though?
Yes!
Marlena , your makeup is flawless. You look absolutely stunning!!

I’m over 50 and these tips are spot on!
Marlena is gorgeous!
Marlena what’s the lip combo shades? It’s beautiful!
The dynamic duo of tips and tricks. Really enjoyed this!!!

I agree with the shimmer eyeshadow Marlena! I am 60 and it makes me look fresh and goes with the dewy look so good 👍
It does! I HATE when people say you can't wear shimmers when you get older. I find they look more flattering. My mom is 70 and I always apply shimmers on her and it looks amazing
Thanks ladies/great points. Wearing eyeliner in the inner rim is also really bad for your eyes so that's a good reason not to as well!
Love these tips and tricks videos! Are there additional tips for those of us in our late 50’s? Or go with these?
I just want to say Lisa is AMAZING!! I bought brushes from her about a year ago, 1 brush was missing and she replaced it very quickly . I truly appreciate her customer service.
Great video ladies. I always learn something and I can never have too many tips. Thanks so much!
Marlena, Please do a tutorial of the products and eye look it’s gorgeous!!! 🥰
You are both amazing people. Inspiring female business owners that support others like that. (Jen Luv and Angelica seem like that too.) So genuine…

I just turned 40 and most of these tips I use. Still it’s nice to have a refresher from wonderful ladies!
As you get older creams and liquids I think are a must. Patrick Ta's formula is made for that technique

Thank you Marlena and Lisa, super tips🤩🤩🤩
I love that you ladies are filming together! I adore you both! Great tips for us ladies with more fine lines ! I’m 60 and while I still like my colors I just use them a little differently now!
Ladies, L'Oreal Infallible lipsticks/ glosses are wonderful & affordable!
Great tips! I specifically started doing less powder all over and also, now I do brown liner. Game changers! Thank you
That was great, and I think your tips are spot on. I quit using black liner a long time ago, brown is so much softer.
I've been watching Lisa J also. Good to see you two together!
Great video, thank you, felt a bit relieved knowing that we women have similar issues in our 40s and makeup techniques require revisions around this age & less is more, glad I am doing some things right :)

Amazing to see 2 of my fav girls together! Been loving the over 40 videos also.
This was so good! Love the contrast of your two sets of features beside one another 🥰
What a lovely duo you make. Thanks!❤❤

THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THIS VIDEO 🙌 now I know what to do in my +40 make up 👏👏👏👏
Gorgeous women!!! I wanna look like you two when I'm in my 40s, so put together 😍😍😍
Love y’all together and all your tips 💖💖
I bought that Fenty powder on your recommendation (and it was on sale!) and I love it!
It's SO good right??? Never gets cakey on me- great coverage and comes in so many colors. I LOVE them
Do u have a link to support your recommendations?@@MarlenaStell
🎉@MarlenaStell what brush do you recommend to apply powder foundation if it is used as an all-over base ?
You girls are so pretty thanks for the video very helpful
Before the CT Hollywood glow /Elf dupe mania online, I bought & still use Lisa Eldridges Elevated Glow which gives a beautifully natural skin illumination.
Now I'm 55years...leaning!! Thank you sisters ❤❤Singapore 🇸🇬
You guys are my favorite ❤️ ❤. Thank you for this video.
Great suggestions 👏🏻
OMG I loved this! It was like a chit chat with your sister friends 🥰
LOVEEEEEEE you guys together!!
Could you please explain how to apply mineral powder correctly, step by step. Thank you 😊
I stopped lining my waterline as it made my eyes look tiny. In fact no eye makeup below my eyes. Just concealer.
At 64 the problem I'm having is thin lips. No more red lipstick, it just doesn't look good.
Kathy B
I agree about shimmer shadows, they're much more forgiving than matte. I'm nearly 70, and mattes make my eyes look more wrinkled and dry.
Love this video of you guys together!!!
Thanks for all the good tips. Im not forty but i have changed skin after pregnancys and have to try new techniques ❤️
YESSS!!! Shimmers!!!! ❤❤
Great video; thank you ladies.🤩
Ahhh love both of you guys! And the BK Beauty brushes are amazing!
I’m still in my early 30s but I still find this informative! ❤
Thanks‼️💕
I love your collaboration, I only wish you would had shown more affordable options for those of us that can't afford to pay 40.00 for a pressed powder.
Yeah, I miss the days when she was using Coastal Scents products, and such. Those were the days!
Love shimmers!
Same im 48 and I use nude or a pink light pink on my waterline. Brown yes but very lightly and smudge it out.
huh, that makes sense. I will buy a good lip liner to see if it will help. Thanks for thr tips!
I am 46 and I do all the things that you are doing, too.I agree with what you both said.
😁👍🏽💖🫶🏽 Great tips!
i always like shimmer shadows.
Great video, ladies.
Thank you ladies for a great video. Marlena, what color lipstick are you wearing? It’s so pretty 🌸🌸🌸
What is Lisa wearing on her eyelids? I really like the color and her complexion is similar to mine!
