Publishing checks are probably even better because he's doing original music and not sampling, for the most part, obviously he uses samples occasionally
Yeah he had some hits. He had those mid tempo beats with distinct chords and upbeat percussion that gave it movement; and he combined it with heavy bass. E.I. was hardest one he did to me.
Young kio made old town road beat but the guitar riff is a sample from Nine Inch Nails and that rock group gets about 80% of the record . Sting has been snatching up 90% royalties from rappers who sample his songs too , the latest some was Lucid dreams …. Nick Mari produced that song . There are companies set up now to sue hiphop for sample music now . The new trend is getting loops from loop makers now but you gotta split royalties 50/50 . I make my own melodies but also use loops because if you depend on loops or samples , it will cripple your originality …..meaning everybody is getting the same loops but if you make the whole bet from melody to drums ….. you can’t beat that and it feels great .
The solution is to not sample other people's music. That way you wont have to worry about giving up most or all of the ownership of your song. That includes bs loop samples. Simple as that. Not sure why any musician-capable producer would use public loop samples. Just create your own melodies and loops.
@@dianevrules just don’t do it too much.. sometimes you gotta have this hip hop, if it ain’t no sampling it ain’t no hip hop.
