Father, this video brought me to tears. I was raised Catholic but drove away from God as I got older. I dealt with depression and anxiety for a long time after that, and I always tried to obtain that happiness myself. I never found it. Thank God one day during my lowest point, my good friend introduced me to this channel. Everything in my life changed. I went back to church and grew closer to God. Now I am so thankful, and at peace. God is so good. I am now finally confirmed, and my good friend became my Godmother. Jesus is genuine love and happiness. Thank you for delivering this beautiful message, Father. God bless you.
@Austin Brown there's nothing called trinitarianism. But there's the Trinity,. In Christian faith, the Trinity is God The Father, God, The Son and God, The Holy Spirit
Thank you so much for the excellent information provided Fr. It is the whole truth. God bless you and keep doing a great job. We need our GOD, our Heavenly King and Creator in our daily lives.
Thank you, this is very timely for me. Lately I have been making a more concerted effort to do these things but my problems are listening and receiving. I am often so disappointed with myself and discouraged by all my faults (yes, just what Satan wants) that it actually feels like something is blocking me from receiving God's love. It's possibly pride and/or approaching these things with a works-based/"earning God's love" mentality. A friend told me the other day that I'm "at war with (my)self" because my head and my heart aren't lining up, and she's right. I'm really trying to be kinder to myself - I guess I just need to persist and trust that this time is not in vain. I know we can't always rely on feelings but sometimes it's very hard when you don't have them! "Lord I believe, help my unbelief!" Praying for anyone else who feels like this :)
@Austin Brown Hi :) Yes, I do. I can see this is something you are passionate about as you have asked this of a number of people on another video comment thread!
Hey listen, I read your comment and know EXACTLY where you're coming from. You suffer from what is called a "scrupulous conscience." You may already know what this means, but just as a reminder, it can means, in your case, that you feel strongly about not sinning, so much that that has become your life: a constant effort towards not sinning. In the right context, the instinct that you have developed in yourself to not sin is good; what troubles you, from what I can see, is that it's that instinct that's I overtaking your life, taking away from the freedom and happiness Jesus Christ so desperately wants you to have. I can tell you that among other sins, pride was definitely up there with them. However, when I confessed my sins to a retired bishop, he told me that I had a scrupulous conscience, a phrase previously mentioned He said, "You know, I don't know you, but from what I'm hearing, these are simply sins of weakness." Your pride may be a venial sin of weakness because you don't completely and absolutely will it in full conscience. I hope this helps :)
@@GerardoGarcia98218 Thank you so much, this is very helpful! It is good to have it pointed out that a focus on sin (past, present, and potentially future) has taken over!
@Austin Brown Hi again :) I know the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit are in unity. I have to admit that I am not sure what you're getting at with your questions and comments :)

Thank you Fr. for this video. I actually love sitting in a completely silent church before Mass. I was wondering can you do a video on how to be close to Jesus when living with an illness prevents the person from attending Mass each Sunday regularly.
One little tip I have when you're in that situation is maybe try to find times during the week when you can attend weekday mass at your local parish or if they have some kind of perpetual Adoration
Good! Great! Amazingly simple and clear and true. You gave something concrete and practical to work with 'prayer'. This means acquiring the Holy Spirit and that is the whole point of being Christian ie: 'Christos' 'blessed' or 'anointed' as they say in the Greek Orthodox church to become 'Allos Christos' 'Another Christ' - this is the solid and painful and difficult work of Christianity, to co-operate with grace and with the Holy Spirit to become the 'Icon' or 'Image' of Christ, as you say 'facing Jesus', that we might become another candle against the darkness of a fallen world. Saint Jean Vianney says, 'When we pray properly, sorrows disappear like snow before the sun', but our hearts are hard, 'surrounded by a wall of brass', and they must become soft and receptive to absorb His grace and grow in love until we are perfect in love and able to love anyone and everyone like Jesus, like the Father! You did an excellent job of succinctly stating how to obtain 'the one thing [that] is necessary' - Thank you! Thank you for reminding me! How easily I forget and fail! How important to point that we cannot earn love, we can only receive it as gift! Real love cannot be taken, it must be given! (The opposite ideology of the world as expressed in Godfather part III 'Real power cannot be given. It must be taken') - God is not power, money, pleasure, or even honour: God IS Love. Amen

Father, I’m picking up what you’re putting down (or rather *have* been picking up) as I’m currently going through some pretty trying times, but I haven’t been idle. A month ago I began to start mornings differently. As soon as I wake up, the first thing I do is say a quick prayer, pick up my Bible, and read whatever is the first passage that I see on a specific page I bookmarked with my favorite prayer card (if my eyes go to a chapter or section heading I’ll read it to the end). After I’m content with what I’ve read, or rather, looked at all the footnotes and perhaps a few verses ahead or behind for context, I pray the prayer on the card, then put said card in a random place in my Bible. In short, I essentially do a Bible flip every morning along with some other prayers. I go to Mass every day (although lately I’ve found it hard to get to Saturday morning Mass) and do my best to participate and pray the Mass, so by that effect I’m also praying daily for at least 30 minutes (if you count the hour on Sunday to cover for Saturday). And finally, I’m so very blessed to not have one, but two parishes nearby which have perpetual adoration. So not only am I in the presence of the Blessed Sacrament daily at Mass, but also face-to-face with Jesus in adoration on most days. Yet…I’ve been feeling restless for a while now. Perhaps it’s lack of people around me to share my faith with besides family, or maybe God’s been trying to tell me something and I just haven’t gotten the message yet. TL;DR, I’m doing all three of your steps on a daily and pious basis (to the best of my ability), and I’m still restless, or at least it feels like it.
