- Wild Edibles For Small Pets (part 2)
Another foraging video where I show some more common wild edibles :)
Remember to always double check with ID guides if unsure of a certain plant.

I didn’t know what to expect from this video but this is a freaking vibe. So calm and peaceful plus adorable fluffy babies!
I bet it might get a little crowded taking them all inside for the winter though.
Such a good topic! You take better care of your pets than anyone I’ve seen on UA-cam.
Thanks very much! I'm glad you find it to be a good video topic :)
It always amazes me with the distance between u & me on the west coast of 🇨🇦, how some of the plants & greenery are the same! The lilac coloured butterfly 🦋 bush (i don’t know it’s real name) i had a white one but it died over the winter, but my mom has a beautiful one like yours! And i have the green plantain too that i’m always digging up from my garden! Thanks for another good video!
I enjoyed watching the video
Have a cute life adorable bunnies 🥰🥰
Nice vid !!
I really love your videos - so calm and relaxing! You take such a good care of your little friends, and I really hope more guinea pig and rabbit owners will try out foraging, since it's the healthiest and most natural food (and it's free!) you can provide them with.
I am curious, did you notice any forage preference between your piggies and the bunnies? Like, some specific forage is more popular with the bunnies, while the piggies don't really like it and prefer something different?
And also, did you try feeding them branches from different trees? I used to only offer my piggies branches from apple and hazel trees, without knowing that there are so many more that can be fed. Now I collect a good variety of different branches every week and make some sort of 'forest' in my piggies' enclosure. My boys love it and after a week I store the dry leftovers in a box to feed them in winter and get them fresh ones :)
Hi Ana, thanks so much for the comment! I definitely notice that there tends to be some plants which are preferred by the rabbits, and then the guinea pigs may not even touch them; they can be fussy little things haha! That's a good idea to try some new varieties for branches - I will have to look into it more and possibly include some in the part 3 😊
@@ErinsArk That's interesting - I once read in a forage-guide that for guinea pigs the owner should strive to have more grasses than herbs and plants in their forage (my piggies prefer a 1/3 herbs and 2/3 grass ratio), while rabbits tend to eat more herbs and hence the herb-ratio should be higher in the forage. Never thought they would have different forage preferences. I am definitely looking forward to part 3! :)
If you are interested, these are some branches they can eat: birch (great for the urinary system), oak, garden bamboo, beech (I believe the branch on the right-hand corner at 2:54 in your video is one), hornbeam, linden, ginkgo, poplar, willow, alder, hawthorn, fir and spruce (both in small amounts - great for the respiratory system and piggies/bunnies with URI).
Some poisonous branches: boxwood, yew-tree, angel trumpet, laburnum, dogwood tree, elder, magnolia, rhododendron.
It is so good that you let the animals go outside and enjoy the Lord God's goodness to humans the air that we breathe!!
thank you thank you now I know more or less what to give my grass rabbit and stuff because I was always worried about that and nothing that I love your content what you upload I love it and if you can put translation in the videos it would be great greetings from Chile ❤❤
I diddnt know rabbits could eat raspberry leaves, can they have all types of them or? & can rabbits have twisted Hazel? What's the other plant that looks like plantain but isn't?
