One of India’s most perceptive political commentators says that the speech made by the RSS Sarsanghchalak in Nagpur last Monday was a clear message to Mr. Modi. Pavan Varma says it was a “pointed and relevant message” and of “seminal importance”. As Mr. Varma put it, it was “extremely important (because) Bhagwat speaks rarely but when he does so he has a purpose and a carefully thought-out message”.
Mr. Varma says when Mohan Bhagwat spoke about the need to “respect diversity, live together and respect others … (and) embrace goodwill to all” he clearly had in mind the comments made by the BJP and Mr. Modi in particular during the recent election campaign. In one striking sentence Mr. Bhagwat said: “We must … treat the sons of our country as brothers”. Mr Varma said it is “explicitly clear” that Mr. Bhagwat was saying Muslims are brothers not infiltrators.
Mr. Varma said although when the RSS Chief said a true sevak does not have arrogance he was speaking generically nonetheless “the inference was very clear” and it was obvious “at whom it was specifically directed”. Mr. Varma said that Mr. Modi’s claim that he is not of biological birth was probably “the final straw on the camel’s back”.
In the interview, Mr. Varma spoke at length about what he called a “Frankenstein monster” by which he meant “lumpen elements” and the kind of unchecked lawlessness and violence that they have unleashed in alleged support of Mr. Modi and the BJP. At one point in this section of the interview Mr. Varma named the Bajrang Dal.
Mr. Varma described the RSS Chief’s speech as “a cautionary voice”. In fact, it’s one of three critical comments made by RSS leaders in the same week. There was Indresh Kumar’s comment as well as Ratan Sharda’s article in the RSS magazine Organizer. All three were said in public not in private. Was that just a coincidence or is it a conscious deliberate message? Mr. Varma specifically answers this question. I will leave you to see the interview to hear his answer.

You should listen to everyone. Otherwise you'll live in an echo chamber and cloak yourself in ignorance. It is especially important to listen to those who you do not like. There is not much point listening to those who you agree with because you already know the thoughts and opinions. But it is vital to know the position of your opponents to know the situation.
The message from RSS is for people. They pretended to show people that they are there and concerned about issues of our country. But infact they are not concerned or worried. It's a gesture to establish their goodwill (if any saved) after a span of 10 years. Nobody logically should believe in what RSS is saying now.

It's so good to hear discourses on this channel which are intelligent, discerning and all sides of the arguments are explored, evidenced by facts and when there is a lack of factual info, the speakers are quick to admit that and are humble. Although initially, I thought the Print had some credibility, Shekhar Gupta was found to be trying so hard to hide the fact that his leanings were with the BJP and he is prone to give opinions, pass judgements, based on his own opinions but make them sound like a 'news worthy bulletin' but ends up being a softer voice for Godi media that he tries very hard to hide. The Wire is a more superior channel and is not afraid to debate and call out the wrongdoings of the ruling party or the ruler's rhetoric without fear or favour.
RSS would never want equal minorities participation/representation in parliament...... This speech is just to make sure that they are not seen as anti minorities in India and internationally

Is Mohan Bhagwat or RSS speaking from the heart or is it just a ploy to regain Manipur and the rest of India from the Congress party? Also isn't the RSS's goal of making India as a Hindu Rashtra responsible for all this mess in India? RSS says it's a cultural organization but its goal is always political establishment of the BJP and its allies. I remember Ram Madhav of RSS going to NE and doing some work there. There after BJP rose to power in NE States. Arambai Tengol also is a cultural organization in Manipur but we know how big a role it played in Manipur violence. Thus,RSS is an organization with political motives in the garb of a cultural organization. Their aim is establishment of Hindu Rashtra.

You can extoll the virtues of RSS all you want but we the citizens know that this is a power struggle amongst the biggest parivarvaad sanstha and they aint fooling anyone. Our Syrian Christian community proudly says we are Hindu by culture and Christian by faith. For me, a Hindu from Kerala is nearer to me than a White Christian from Europe. My dad's first cousin has been in RSS Kerala since 18. This organization's goddess is Bharat. There are even atheist RSS workers. India can only develop if we all move together with the aspiration for a developed Bharat. Yes of course,. Islamism is a threat to any democracy, be it the West or India. It has to be addressed. I was listening to this interview hoping to educate myself on the recent electoral developments. But disappointing to see how cleverly half truths and one sided views are being peddled. Both, by this journalist and his guest who I held in high respect.
Mr Bhagwat, addressing the nation? Why media is discussing the fallouts of his speech?
He is RSS chief. What is his legitimacy and authority to address the nation? How does he obtain the power and recognition?
Is the ceremonial critique about the government, leadership/ achievements, election behaviours etc just a facade? Advices and quoting from the scriptures of great wisdom and their values in high sounding Sanskrit from the high podium are merely part of annual serman coming from the self appointed, self styled moral High Priest. Or not?
What such an exercise, undertaken by the Mother Organisation, is meant to achieve? It gives an impression that it is - Less About The Message and More About Image. Enhancing and consolidating the image as the all powerful institution that has succeeded in becoming the defacto controller and governor of the country. Shadow Power at play. Accept or not.

The goal is to place the Mother Organisation firmly on a lofty pedestal as an all superior in terms of wisdom, credibility, patriotic (nationalist) attributes, empowered and authentic body to oversee, guide and validate the government and the polity of the country. Clearly this is an extra constitutional projection of authority over the affairs of democracy. How far it is legitimate is questionable.
Any organisation/ institution/ association etc bodies are free to operate in democracy. They may assume certain rights and responsibilities for themselves as provided and allowed in the Constitution.
It matters when any one organisation by virtue of being in a position where it's views, assessments and decisions may have profound impact on the government. In doing so it has substantial influence over the kind of governance delivered to the people.
If that is the case then does it have any accountability on the outcomes and implications vis -a- vis the Constitution of the country? Whether that matches with the expectations & aspirations of the citizens and whether conforms with the Constitution?
If such an organisation has allowed a bad / incompetent leadership to take charge of the government with huge majority then who bears the responsibility for the consequences of violation of people's trust, misrule, violation of constitution, oppression of dissent, finish off of the political opposition, capture the mainstream media, control the democratic institutions like ECI, Lokpal, Human Rights Authority, Women's Commission etc, influence education system and it's institutions through policies and appointment processes?
RSS seem to have taken upon themselves to critique their own party/govt and the polity of the country in public. What was the compulsion?
Why RSS has allowed incompetency, corruption and blackmailing to persist to the third term without seeking to change the leadership for the betterment of the country? Political success above ideological preferences seem to have taken precedence. How can the future of the nation be entrusted to such self-interest groups?
Can India realise the aspirations set out in our Democratic Constitution in equal, free and inclusive manner? Who will answer and who will ensure?
The rule is not of one man but two men Modi and Amit Shah.
RSS people should understand that we are temporarily living on this Earth so no need to discuss about Religion and there is nothing belongs to us, because God created everything and every human being so no need fighting Hindu and Muslims. We all know that our lives are very short so because kind and love one another unconditional. Don't hurt anyone.
All such interviews hardly matter to the arrogant Modi.
Unfortunately, Honourable President of India is a rubber stamp otherwise things would have been quite different.
Now the only hope lies with the Supreme Court or say the Chief Justice of India.(Mr Chadrachud).
His affirmative action will make him "अमर" and our next-generation will remember him as a Saviour of this Nation.
RSS are Responsible for Shree Narendra Modiji's terms as Chief Minister of Gujarat and Prime Minister of India 🇮🇳.
Unfortunately Modiji was a below average Chief Minister of Gujarat in February 2002.
Modiji Overtook Shree Lal Kishan Advaniji as Prime Minister of India 🇮🇳 in 2014 which was totally Disastrous Period .
Shree Lal Kishan Advaniji was a Great Statesman and Leader compared to Shree Narendra Modiji who was lacking Exposure on National Economic Level & National Integration in Unity and Diversity and living in Peace and Harmony.
RSS doesn’t mean what they say.
To be very honest RSS itself is feeling unsafe now from the fear of Modi and Shah. Nadda has already made it abundantly clear BJP does not need RSS any more. Look at it this way. RSS is a dogma creating agency but they do not have the power to execute or enforce its agenda in real terms in agencies, such as courts or institutions such as Universities and other similar organizations. However, BJP has all such means of enforcement as we have seen in decisions made by courts and how they deal with protests at Universities and against their agenda such as the farm laws and the CAA, perhaps others areas as well. So given this why would BJP want to have another head ache on its hands such as RSS. It would be a better idea to take over RSS and have a seamless transfer of power as head of RSS with a PM once the PM retires. Modi would be a good start where the incoming PM will be under the direct control of the RSS head. This the reason whey the RSS is so agitated as they can see the writing written on the wall of their death knell approaching.
