This is the best one to date. It was funny and interesting. Loved Nate’s angst over watching you going up and down each isle. Who needs a list anyway. You got this! 👍👏⛵️
I’m not gonna say anything about shopping without a list because I often do that - go see whatever is available, go home, then a make list and go back.
When I was in the US navy our eggs came dipped in a thin coat of wax. They would last us at least a month unrefrigerated. Also when we ran out of real milk and had to use the powdered milk we discovered if you mix it the day before and let it sit in the fridge for at least 24 hours it wasn't bad. Otherwise it tasted like plastic milk. Also powdered eggs aren't bad if you mix them the night before and make scrambled eggs with cheese the next morning.
Thanks for the tips! We’ve seen the wax coat before but not tried it. Haven’t yet resorted to powdered milk / eggs but they may be in our future. Thanks for watching!
Wonderful video guys. Captain Kieran on Scout! Such lovely kids. I learnt a lot about freezing citrus 🍋 Megan thanks. Have a safe sail looking forward to the next installment 👍 peace x Dave, Manchester UK.
I am no expert on boat repairs. However, I have watched way too many boat repair videos. They all apply the sealant to the underneath of the fitting before pushing the fitting down into the deck. Pushing the fitting down flush with the deck, and then applying the sealant around the edges Will not work for long.
Yes, I believe you’re right. It took me some time to get it flush so I didn’t want to goop it too early. It’s been keeping out the water so far but it’s on my list to fix. Thanks for the comment!
And Now it is time to sail ⛵️ The Biggest Ocean of them all. The Pacific Ocean! Where some of the Best Islands on the planet are. Let the Memories begin! To bad you are going to mess 8 of them the " Hawaiian Islands " But the French Polynesian Islands 🏝 are just as good. Ok be safe out there. And until next time ⏲️, Aloha from the Big Island of Hawaii! Aloha and cheers 🍻
Yes!!! Thank you so much for the good wishes!!! We’ve been lucky enough to visit Hawaii a number of times by plane, maybe one day we’ll sail there too!
Just a hint: Check rules and regulations at NZ immigration. As they´re pretty rough on import unprocessed food. Seen a lot of sailors that had to dispose tons of food when checking in to NZ.
I’m trying g convince my girls into full time cruising. I show them your videos and the wish you showed more of ur daughter. Do they can see what it’s like for her
Usually, the whole hygiene thing improves around Kieran’s age or maybe a little after when all of a sudden they discover the opposite sex, the problem is that on the boat those motivations don’t exist, and Kieran can focus on his school work. Maybe, he doesn’t think he needs to change his clothes that often because he is always swimming in his shirts and shorts?
Yeah - pros and cons of boat life. It can be hard with hygiene (or schoolwork for that matter) when there aren’t as many outside influences. There are advantages too - not too much risk of him falling in with the ‘wrong crowd’ but it’s definitely a trade off.
Great video! You guys just seem so much more relaxed and finally having fun! Makes me wish I was there. For the first time i was scrolling thru your other comments and found: @Chris-be1fo.'s comments. It rang a bell for me. When I saw you fixing the deck port with the poly, something bothered me, but It didn't come up to the surface. He is right. If that repair needs to be watertight. the sealant needs to be solid in the gap between the port and the deck AND Under the the S/S flange where it will be smushed into a tight seal when it is screwed to the deck. Keep an eye out for water below.

My new favorite sailing channel!
Thanks so much! Welcome aboard!
@@sailing_scout I just love the vibe of your vlogs. Hope your channel grows!
To store poly I take the rollers and fold them in half, submerge them so that the can is almost overfill, and tap the lid on securely
Thanks for the tip!
And now the fun has started. Be safe and have fun.
Yes! Thanks so much for journeying along!

Yes - thank you! It will be interesting to see what’s long gone by then and what we overbought and is sitting in a cabinet somewhere…
