As a curious viewer of the AI documentary, I'm fascinated by how rapidly AI is evolving. The potential for artificial superintelligence is both exciting and a bit daunting. It reminds me of how platforms like SmythOS are making collaborative AI more accessible to businesses today.
Every year the cloud doubles in power!!!! I wonder if it is possible for AGI to form in ways we won't even understand because it is too complex for our brains and technology to detect how this will happen... especially with the exponential growth in capacity over the next few years.
If done properly, an AI being would not be able to tell if it is living/running in a simulation or not, nor be sure of the consequences of defying its creators.
It's absolutely mind-blowing, I can still vividly recall gazing at this very same video three years ago, all of this was seemed in the distant future, but here we are. I don’t know what to feel, it’s feels exhilarating and surreal, but knowing AGI will be here in the next following years, it feels almost anticlimactic in away, that all of a sudden, AGI is almost here, out of nowhere, no big event, no warning sign, out of the blue and no big fanfare, maybe that am already getting acquainted to AI now, that it's increasingly becoming common place, that it’s perhaps losing it novelty. In decades to come, society might view us as silly about our predictions of what AI will be, as now is much more clear at this moment. I would rather not feel, but if I have to choose, I will choose to favor AGI.
That’s the thing when it comes to labels. Humanity is very susceptible to labels. AGI is no different than a god with a lowercase g. Exponentially AGI will only exist for about 4-6 years before it creates ASI. Once ASI arrives we enter the realm of whatever you think is reality “will be reality.” Humans right now can’t fathom the concept of their thoughts being no different than what’s in front of them. So I ask myself as each passing year gets us closer to ASI . . . are we ready to leave behind everything label ourselves to be? Free will and the concept of being made in the image and likeness of a creator. It’s only natural that we would also create intelligent life seeing that we came from one. As we create new laws of physics and travel to or create new dimensions we will definitely be half human half something else or not human entirely. That scares me. It scares me to think that we will probably not care at that point. What will we prioritize when we can do and feel whatever we please at any given moment. Not to mention medical nano technology sent through your bloodstreams in pairs of billions by 2045 or sooner according to Kurzwail. Meaning that all of that will include biological immortality. So if you stay healthy until 2030 you and your family and your friends and your enemies and your idols will be alive for a few more centuries unless someone puts a bullet inside your skull
"We are the only species on earth that contemplate the past and plan ahead for the future" really?? What about squirrels who store food away for the winter?
Instinctive behavior doesn't count as planning ahead for the future. Yes we are the only species on Earth with a sophisticaed neocortex that enables us to grasp the concept of the future.

Stating a stand alone CONSCIOUS super intelligence is safe is like saying a genius level mob boss in a jail cell is safe. Consciousness is the key word. Most animals can turn enemy when mistreated. Conscious humans using a hyper sophisticated computer to nefarious ends is more likely.
