I love that so many of your pieces are on leather straps. These days it seems so many people default to steel bands. Don’t get me wrong, steel is great and robust. But there is something so ‘gentlemanly’ about a watch on leather.
That Polerouter is insane! I have a ref. H20217-5 with bumper caliber 138ss with big triangle lume (not the broad harrow hands) and I love it, but yours is a stunner. Congrats!
Absolutely gorgeous collection. Lots of personality. As a seller myself, I see that vintage Omegas are very diverse and its hard to not keep a couple for oneself. Where do you get your straps?
Unlike most youtuber's SOTC, yours is actually fairly interesting. Most youtubers have the most boring collections, they try to pitch as interesting, but they all have the same Rolex, omega speedmaster, seiko divers blah blah blah that is dull to see. The one gripe I do have is when you mentioned whether a watch (omega admiralty) is "worthy" of being in the collection. There is no such thing. You either like it or not, watches are things, pieces of metal, leather and ceramic not some kind of elitist club. My watch collection has watches that go from $9 to $7000 and they all "deserve" to be there.
casualsuede Thank you 🙏🏼 I guess I just meant worth of staying due to my own tastes and if I’d wear it. I wasn’t, so I’ve sold it. It’s a fantastic watch. Just didn’t suit me as I’d expected.
You should do them in the order you bought them. Its a very interesting detail to watch the timeliness of someone's taste, budget, education of watches, etc
Nice collection. Please make a video on investing/parking part of your money in watches. I have spend a substantial part of my money on vintage watches
Great to see how passionate you’re about your collection. Several pieces I would like to have in my collection 😍 much more interesting than all this I have every ss Rolex collections 😅
Appreciate the in-depth look into your collection, which is certainly very classy. This comes also at the right timing, no pun intended haha. I currently have my eyes on the IWC Pilot´s Automatic 36 in part., and almost anything from A.Lange & Söhne as kind of as end goal
@@MattLoberstein Awesome, do you have any specific model in mind? I love their craftsmanship and design but it still feels somewhat off though to carry something worth of a Porsche around the wrist.. so I would be very happy with a Saxonia Auto.
Claas Harrendorf Similar tastes, was going to say 37mm Sax-o-mat. I see cars as a far worse use of $ though haha. So many running costs and taxes. Not hard to use watches as a glorified bank account 👌🏼
@@MattLoberstein Great choice!^^ For me I´m somewhat forced into the 35-39mm diameters having smaller wrists. Never though of the comparison with the running costs, true that. Although its s bit harder to loser your car on the road.. Btw I think you should drop the omega (just my 2 cents)
@@MattLoberstein I have a vintage seamaster like yours, a WWII Omega and a vintage Smiths (which is a British-made watch manufactured close to where I grew up). Funnily enough I was just looking at 1957 polerouter but can't justify pulling the trigger this side of Christmas -- and I lust after an aqua terra like yours. I too like Nomos and may one day acquire one of their pieces. Enjoyed your video Matt. We'd love to see more of your thoughts in watches.
Awesome. A lot of similarities. Funny is I’m actually selling that Aqua Terra now and a couple others - made a big purchase since this video so I’m paring down a few. I made an unboxing video of the new piece - you should take a look!
Quality video! Really loved literally all the watches in your collection! One big elephant aspect you did not bother to mention are all the beautiful looking straps. I suppose everyone else know how to find those quality straps... I always felt a little shaky to order them on eBay...
Hey man, awesome video, thanks! This is one of the few video’s I watched fully (normaly I skip forward but this one I watched without skipping stuff). Just a great video, nice guy and beautifull watches. Nice collection. At the end of the video you said that you can’t part with your watches in order to buy something of more value. But what would be a grail piece for you? Like to hear from you! And btw, what size wrists do you have? 6-6,5 inches? Because those watches look great on you my man. Enjoy them!! Kind regards
Thanks a ton! Yeah my wrist is around that, I forget exactly. A lot of my grails are owned by @bazamu on IG. Same tastes. I’d kill for that exotic UG Tri Compax. I’d love an AP 5402 blue dial. As for moderns, I do really love Lange and could for sure see myself with one.
Matt Loberstein aahahaha yeah Bazamu... have been following him a long time. Great pieces indeed. And that UG 😍 Well thanks for your reply, enjoy your watches and I look forward to more watch related content!
Hi Matt, The majority of my watches are vintage, I own a Gub Glahuette, Tressa, Eterna Matic, Seiko Lordmatic, Seiko Presage, Doxa, Enicar, among others, about 35 watches on my collection. I enjoyed your collection man, especially the Universal Geneve Polerouter. First time on your channel.
I love your collection and thoroughly enjoyed every bit of the video. I also love all the straps. Just curious - where did you purchase the ostrich strap for the Datejust?
Thanks a lot! That’s awesome. I actually bought a ton of those in bulk off an ebay seller years ago when I was selling watches. Still have some but not many sizes
Wow, a good collection video from someone who isn't a watch youtuber. I love that you know the refrence numbers from the watches and have some knowledge about them. Most people who make watch collection video's say, yeah this is my rolex subariner, its black and cool. And you have great taste, not the 44mm wachtes, around 36mm, the perfect size. Thanks and keep collecting!
I would like to have your wrist size :) 34-36mm watches look great on you so you have the whole world of gorgeous vintage watches at your disposal. The Polerouter, Memovox and Omega Admiralty are so funny-weirdish watches but so cool because of that. The ladies blue Seamaster is beautiful as well but this is a great collection. Well shot vid, thanks
Love the video, and the diversity in your collection. Also, I’d be interested in the Polerouter if you get to a point where you’d be willing to sell it. I‘ve been looking for a couple years now to have to wear on my wedding day (which we’ve had to move to next year). I’ve had a tough time tracking any down in that condition so if you’d be willing to part with it, I’m interested.
@@MattLoberstein Really appreciate the reply! I'm saving up for a vintage-inspired sports watch to keep for forever. Can't decide between Tudor Black Bay 58 and Speedmaster. Anyway - thanks again!

great stuff, love your vids. May I make a suggestion that if you are showing your watches, the colour accuracy is very important. So when your editing has lots of blue tints to the whites and shadows, it makes it very hard to see/enjoy the patina and what your actual watches look like. Cheers!
